Shooting boards are super useful for woodworking. Loved the rabbit joke. Great video!

Just wanted to let you all know that I messed up on the terminology. I'm making a Dado with the router, not a Rabbet. Guess I got so fixated on the Rabbits that it never occurred to me. "Mistakes are proof you are trying" is what my daughter always tells me. Sorry about that.

Great video for a simple but useful jig. I have made several. Waxing the wood where the plane rides will make it easier to push, too.

I need to get some more wax. Once I do I will probably wax it.

Doesn’t the plane wear against the plywood, where you may end up with a slight depression in the edge? G reta idea, been wantng to make one, and yours looks easy enough.

Would you add anything like a wax to the area where the plane ride to help make it as smooth as possible and reduce friction from the body of the plane against the shooting board?

After using this a bit more after making the video, I did add some paste wax to just the area where the plane rides.

How do you confirm that the upper board is perfectly straight to guide your plane? Or, do you trust the factory edge on the plywood?

I thought about that, and once I get to really using it, I may just add one.
