One of my favourite part are the boss animations. Also the way they dodge and parry your attacks just like you. Despite their bullet hell skills, it feels like your on the same level. Which is only reinforced by the fact you are the same size.
Yeah that's a good point, they aren't huge crazy monsters, just regular people like you
I played this when I heard "Youre mine" by carpenter brut, who also did the hotline Miami soundtrack. So yeah I enjoyed this game
That is the entire reason I bought the game in the first place, have not regretted it since.
This is an insanely good game. It is so much fun to play. The gameplay is fluid, (most of) the bosses are inventive, and it has just the right difficulty, easy enough that it doesn't feel like any mistake you make is because the game is unfair, but hard enough that it is extremely challenging, even for avid game players. The story is kind of weak, but, granted, I have only played till about the 5th boss, but this is just a boss rush game, so it doesn't really matter. PLAY THIS GAME. If you enjoyed titan souls, you will enjoy this. And even if you didn't enjoy titan souls, or found it unsatisfying, play it.
Yeah I liked this much more than Titan Souls (the one hit KO thing made everything much less meaningful imo), but boss games in general are dope
snomaN Gaming Honestly, I did like the 1-hit KO thing in titan souls. I think it fit for that specific game, and it worked there. Here, having a one hit KO would be extremely unfair, and then the parry system(one of my favourite things to pull off)would lose a big part of itself(getting health back). Both are really good games, but it's as if they started development at the same time, and this was released much later. It's far more well balanced than titan souls, because it gives you leniency that doesn't feel too easy.

My favorite part of the combat was deliberately hitting a boss at the wrong time to provoke an attack, parrying it, and dealing a ton of damage

This is my favorite series of videos
I bought this game during the winter sale and had a great time beating the first couple of bosses, then the sniper boss really frustrated me after a couple of instant deaths so I stopped playing. Today I found this video and decided to give it another try. I had a blast again and beat the boss first try. Thx for encouraging me not letting the game catch dust in my steam library.
I love boss games. This looks really cool, and I've always enjoyed bullet hell games as well.

The secret final boss, on Furier... that took me a while. It was the damned fourth phase, I tell you! Hit once, and you just get caught in the vortex with no chance to whittle down her (it's?) health bar at all, and there's hardly room to dodge. Finally beating it was about the happiest damned moment of my recent life, haha.
Speedrun time's still only like, 51 minutes currently, but oh well. It's nice to see the game's getting recognition.

@@Se7enRemain Shovel Knight isn't that hard compared to the games it's inspired by. Like compared to the classic Castlevania and Mega Man and even Ducktales games it's a lot easier and more forgiving with the system its got instead of lives. Once you play it enough, the mechanics of the platforming become natural to you. Also each character in shovel knight has an item or two that completely breaks the game and makes it arguably way too easy
I got this for free on PS+ and I haven't booted it up yet. Thanks for showing me what to expect! I'll get on it soon.

I still haven't beaten it but would like too. I didn't notice the white flash on the weapon until you mention it Snoman.
Tip: During the walking sections just tap the dodge button (A button on PC/X on PS4) to automatically walk.

this was free for ps4 a while back! one of the best free games for sure. Also probably one of the hardest games I've played, and I haven't even beaten the first boss on Furier mode.

I love unique bullet hell games, most bullet hell games are set up where you just use a spaceship or something and you only have to dodge projectiles while autofire does the rest of the work for you, but i love games like Furi, Enter the Gungeon, Nuclear Throne, and Nier Automata(btw you should do a you need to play Nier Automata, because Nier Automata is fantastic)
You can also fit in a few blaster shots before you activate the perfecrt parry cutscene thing.
There's so many little extra things you can do to make fights go faster.
Also, furier is the way the game was intended to be played, think of furier as the true game.
Love this game. It's samurai Jack meets Tron. And man does it have teeth!

I think The Edge (Samurai Dude) has to be the most fun and satisfying on Furier.
Really considering getting Furi for my switch
I picked it up for my Switch during the last sale and it was overall satisfying. The walking part and the last “optional” boss, however, were disappointing. The end credit scene before the final fight and cutscene was much more memorable to me.
Anyway, I’m glad that I played this game. The soundtracks were especially phenomenal :)

Hey snoman. Have you tried any bullet hell games? I feel like you would enjoy that genre. I highly recommend games by Cave Co such as deathsmiles or dodonpachi on steam if you wanna get into them
I've played some, but mainly ones that are blends of other genres with that. They can be really hard but like, strangely relaxing too? lol
i highly recommend playing a camve shooter or a touhou game. They are some really fun pure bullethell games.

One of those games that look really interesting, but just dont run on my old laptop anymore,judging by the specs alone.
Saw this game on a stream once, with the different phases and patterns, it felt very much like a rhythm-game. Definitely on my list of games to eventually pick up, will probably be terrible at it, and will enjoy every minute :D

The gameplay kinda looks like a 3D Hyper Light Drifter mixed with a bullet hell and a little more gun usage and boss heavy. Even the protagonists' fashion senses are similar. Not sure which one came out first.

I’m just gonna add how for dark souls, parrying the snake men is crap because yes your CAN parry them but only SOME of their attacks. Parrying is not all that bad in dark souls for the most part once you learn how it works. Furi gives you a signal when to parry so I’d argue that it’s easier when it comes to parrying
I think the bosses have a lot of symbolism towards The Rider facing his troubles I will explain why.
The Chain: Probably the sadistic part of Rider which he used to have before being locked up after being sent on a mission.
The Strap: What Rider could have became if he didn't get help by the Voice.
The Line: Riders questions about himself if it is worth it to keep going and questions his own identity.
The Scale: Perhaps the revenge nature of Rider of what he want's to improve or destroy depending on what ending.
The Hand: The determination and will power Rider faces to obtain and reasoning to fight, which is to be free.
The Song: Fighting to obtain forgiveness towards this world that isn't his or destroying the forgiveness.
The Burst: Destroying the fact that killing "is a game" and removing the ego from himself.
The Edge: Not fighting because he is evil or good, but fighting because he has to including improving as a person.
The Beat: Both being confused on why they are here and lost perhaps being controlled by something bigger.
The Flame: Destroying the horrible past and pain to move on and finish off the mission.
The Star: Ending the thing that caused world domination and being controlled as a person giving Rider real freedom.
The Voice: The mind of The Rider to convince that there is trust and good people in this world he is fighting in.
I generally think Furi is a hell of an underrated game and it is well constructed as a boss rush game just really thankful to experience this game thank you game baker studios!

Snoman, YOU need to play Cloudbuilt if you haven't already. It's like if Mirror's Edge had a baby with F-Zero and Megaman. It is also not for the faint of heart or easily angered.
YEAH! I tried it out once, but I couldnt get used to the keyboard controls. Wish it was made for controller, but I can definitely appreciate what its trying to do
Try again! If you can get around the controls, it's the epitome of a game that inspires you to get better and rewards you for doing so. The skill/difficulty curve is incredible and you find yourself able to do what you would have thought impossible.
(It DOES have controller support, but it's honestly meant to be played on a Keyboard, so I would recommend just making the adjustment.)

On that dark souls parry comment, the snake men aren’t exactly easy to parry. Only SOME of their attacks can be parried. Aside from that, not a bad review at all

Isn't parrying the super abusable mechanic that fromsoftware had to nerf (both in PvE & PvP) in the sequels? Because of the fact that, in dark souls 1, they were TOO easy?
Seriously..once you learned to parry in Demon's souls..Dark Souls 1 became a literal joke (even if it still is my favorite game of all time)
As Kokostern (a small but pretty good youtuber) said: "Parrying in the souls games is completely unbalanced..the risk-reward is basically 'if you mess up you take a little bit of damage, if you do it right...you win the game' "

I would say the dark souls parry works well for that game, but it's not something that would work everywhere.
Furi is similar to Gitaroo man.
Play Kingdom Hearts Lvl 1 if you like a challenge in gaming its good stuff.
