nice, thanks for the video, helped me a lot. formatted my laptop and forgot to take a back up (= teachable moment, take backups !! haha) 1 remark, needed to reboot controller software so ubi's could be adopted !!
Is there anything can I do if it won’t connect via PuTTY to login? I did a hard reset on a standalone AP that the mobile app would no longer let me configure properly after renaming the SSID. Now the mobile app fails to connect to adopt. So now I’m trying by self hosting the network controller with no success. I feel like I jacked it up so bad that I might have to buy a new AP.
Hi Cody. I followed your video for resetting my AC AP-Pro. It already has the latest firmware and it shows in the "Devices" for adoption. However, I cannot get it to adopt. Do you have any other recommendations?
I reset the AP and ssh into again. It worked the second time around. Thank you again :). I'll use this setup until Ubiquiti releases a better firmware for the UDMP. sudo syswrapper.sh restore-default set-inform 192.168.1.1:8080/inform
What would your suggestion be if I set up some Unifi Pro access points a while ago, and lost my notes on the admin console info - hard resets on all of them? Other ideas?
I did a full reset of my own network. I first removed the AP's from console (they showed up as readoptable later). Then I did the same with my switch (also came back) and then I reset pin my UDMP. I went to the setup process via the app with BT, all went fine. I connected my empty switch, it adopted. I connect 1 AP and it fails to adopt, even with reset pin. It does show in OS but as 0.x (and my udm is stil 1.1). A moment later my switch fails also, also going in the 0.x network and not 1.x Euhm... now what lol...
@@MactelecomNetworks yes my controller is connected to the wifi. So my case is that I just moved into my apartment and the previous owner left two AP Long Range installed so i'm trying to factory reset them to utilize them. But as i said, the devices are not seen. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to log in with the previous credentials to gain access to the devices.
You shoudl download a program called advanced IP scanner and then do a scan of your network. You shoudl see the access points on the network. Then you can log on through an SSH session using a terminal like putty. From there you would run this command set-inform ip-of-controller:8080/inform ip-of-controller is the IP of the unifi controller you are using
Is there a way to hard reset the AP without pressing the reset button, without using the controller and without the username and password? My AP is on a super high ceiling and my laptop got formatted. I also forgot the username and passowrd 😅
Why can't I reboot this device from the app? My routers have had that feature for years. My device was fine, lost power, and is now says disconnected. The controller software doesn't let you reboot em. Would want that if these were mounted far out of reach.
James Preiser is the access point visible under devices? Check to see the switch port if it’s on or not. Try turning the switch port on then back off. If you can see the access point under devices then click on it, go to the bottom of the screen and there is a restart buttons. I suspect your access point doesn’t have power to it
@@MactelecomNetworks I am plugged directly to my dhcp router port. I have the ppoe cord in the basement and have powered it off and on. The device shows up in the controller program, but there is only a disable/enable option for the access point. That doesn't cycle the unit. It just turns the antennas/leds on and off.
@@MactelecomNetworks I am using a Windows 10 desktop for my controller software. I shut down the pc each day. Does it need a constant server for the controller software?

the username and password for advanced adoption, is that the local credentials of the user that adopted them?

Why after factory reset the AP still get all IP ADDRESS instead of factory IP ADDRESS which is 192.168.1.20?
Hi do you guys know why Ubiquiti has made the reset button so fragile?
Not sure what you mean. I’ve never had an issue with it
How did you get the devices to appear under your "Devices" in the controller? Mine says no devices found.
Bryan J so you reset to factory default? And plugged into the same network that you’re controller is on?
