I’m Japanese and I don’t know if anyone said this yet, but the girl in the beginning with the “crazy makeup” has gyaru make up. I’m pretty sure it’s the manba style gyaru make up. However, we almost never see people with gyaru style nowadays. It was really really popular a while back. Also, turbo granny is based on a popular Japanese urban legend from the Showa period called “100km granny” because she’d literally run a 100 kilometers per hour. According to most legends, you’ll see her on highways often. but it really depends on which area you live in. the writer of the Manga used to work as an assistant (or ashi, as we call it) for Tatsuki Fujimoto! (Sorry for the broken English 😅)
The reason why it reminded you of Mob is because the "turbo granny" is an actual criptid legend in Japan. The tunnel in Rokko mountain is said to be haunted by this ghost. You're just seeing multiple different manga referencing the same story from real life.

Momo walked like a man who came out of a movie theater after watching a yakuza movie starring Ken Takakura during the heyday of Toei Ninkyo movies. This whole ep 1 is the manga's whole chapter 1 as well. It's amazing how this re-reeled me the way I got hooked when I first read this 2 years ago. The whole season will be a good recap for me before I continue the manga again where I stopped binge-reading 2 years ago. Can't wait for the next events that'll make people lose their marbles.

my buddy told me to get in on this anime when it started. idk what I was expecting but it wasn't this lol very different for sure but the mix of comedy with the creepy nature of this first episode got me even more interested for sure. plus that 90s style animation for the OP was AMAZING

So I knew nothing about this until I watched this show about 3-4 hours ago. This was insane. This was so wild that I didn't even recognize the voices of the granny and the alien. Voices I have heard for years. Got a little concerned when we got to the alien scene, but it worked out. Watched a few reactions to try and figure out what the hell I had just seen. Anyway, now I'm up to chapter 7 in the manga (I have a Manga+ subscription). I'll probably read a couple more chapters before I go to sleep. Just can't put it down.

In Japan it's a popular urban legend that tunnels are haunted, thus they come out a lot in ghost related stories. Reason is for car accidents that happen inside tunnels, and the ghost gets trapped inside.

The craziest and also the best alternate version of How I Met Your Mother has its own anime adaptation, lets go! By the way Okarun's real name has been foreshadowed since the beginning by the way he says "jibun" for I instead of the usual watashi / boku / ore. The IRL Ken Takakura also uses it IIRC.
I think that Red nose thing is like a Manhwa style thing and that makes sense why God of Highschool had those (It's not in all manhwas though because if i remember solo levelling doesn't do that so it depends on the author's style) But here it may just be an addition to Anime to make characters look good ?

So I knew nothing about this until I watched this show about 3-4 hours ago.
This was insane. This was so wild that I didn't even recognize the voices of the granny and the alien. Voices I have heard for years.
Got a little concerned when we got to the alien scene, but it worked out. Watched a few reactions to try and figure out what the hell I had just seen.
Anyway, now I'm up to chapter 7 in the manga (I have a Manga+ subscription). I'll probably read a couple more chapters before I go to sleep.

The craziest and also the best alternate version of How I Met Your Mother has its own anime adaptation, lets go! By the way Okarun's real name has been foreshadowed since the beginning by the way he says "jibun" for I instead of the usual watashi / boku / ore. The IRL Ken Takakura also uses it IIRC.
I think that Red nose thing is like a Manhwa style thing and that makes sense why God of Highschool had those (It's not in all manhwas though because if i remember solo levelling doesn't do that so it depends on the author's style)
But here it may just be an addition to Anime to make characters look good ?
