Mine fell off yesterday evening(Friday) 35 minutes from home... Had to hand shift down and then push the rod with my heel to shift up. Made it home. Thanks for the video. 👍
@@bluesriderDF Well I fixed it but it did leave some scratches on aluminum. It'll buff out but surprised at the poor quality of the linkage. It could've been done so much better. Especially considering what Harley Davidson charges for the kit.
Hey buddy! Ya know I never noticed the one on the Sportster, I guess because it never gave me a bit of trouble. The one they put on the Dyna is a really dumb design. I'm so glad it's replaced.

Oh man, that stinks! That's impressive you made it home!

@@Roger_GustafssonYeah, that stock factory linkage is really garbage.
Shouldn't the helm joint have some play in it when tightened? I could be mistaken.
Yes, some movement at each joint, but not like the old rod which was sloppy.
@@bluesriderDF thank you!
What is the product number for the black shifter rod from V twin manufacturing?
I don't have that, sorry.
@@bluesriderDF thanks for replying. I will do some research.
Should be the same thing as your old Sportster's shift rod. I know my 2007 uses the same (all be it smaller) Heim joint with forward controls.

What website did you use to purchase this product?
I got it on eBay but you can also find them on Amazon
@@bluesriderDF thanks
how did you cover the holes where the shift shaft lever used to be?
This bike has forward controls, the kit came with everything needed to relocate the shifter.
