That is the same for Labradorite! Only, labradorite doesnt give you that ability to detect the proper angle with layers you can see. It is really frustrating to cut a stone and realize that the optimal viewing angle is such that no one will see it after it is used in jewelry. I have this problem with Fire Obsidian also. To get that initial cut at the proper angle is critical whether it is for display or jewelry! Great vid Jr!

If you have a big piece of rainbow obsidian and want to cut it for a smaller piece to polish for a display piece do you still cut it at the same angle? Some of the rainbow obsidian that I got from you I want to make into roundish display pieces.

Cut it so the color is showing on the top of towards the top so the color can be seen while sitting there.
