    Nathan is not only an Olympic gold medalist ... he’s an accomplished pianist who also plays the guitar and he’s a student at Yale with a double major ... I feel like I need a re-do, but I couldn’t be prouder of this young man! He really is a “Rocketman”!😽🚀🥇

      Yes, I agree that Nathan is really a "Rocketman"! Both the left and the right sides of his brain are so balanced - the artistic side and the logical side having Statistics and Data Science as Nathan's double major at Yale University! What an amazing gentleman!!!

      He’s genuine, honest & grounded, never spoke as if he’s above all or knows all after winning the gold. These reporters should stop placing these weighty directed non-sport issues to the accomplished young athletes & let them celebrate with liberty. Truth will prevail. We all will face God some day.

    Nathan's ovation to Yuzu is trully the best sportmanship ever! He is so humble and so unique and knows he is the best, but he is not afraid to acknowledge the greatness of yuzu. I love Nathan Chen!! I am only sad that we never got to see a clean head to head between these two. I wish I would have a seen a competition where both had clean skates. That would have been sooo freaking cool!

      @@elisabethanderson7124 I am almost certain that yuzu wont be competing at worlds. I mean he has one more chance to land the quad in competition, so this might be a chance for him, but I dont know. This olympics were never about winning for yuzu. He went in coachless, with a jump that nobody else has landed... If feel like he came to the olympics to try and do history with the jump. Even if he did not win, landing that jump at the freaking olympics would have been better than winning.

    • @L1623VP

      Right. Nathan knows he's the greatest male skater since 2018 and really, the greatest of all time. It's just proper and professional to not say that about yourself. I think Hanyu only defeated Nathan twice in his career, and never in the last four years. No skater past or present can skate Nathan's programs jump for jump. Because of that, each time he takes the ice he makes history. Not only does he own the SP, LP and total score world records, but he owns 5 of the top 6 total program scores of all time, 7 of the top ten scores over 300, and the top four LP scores.
      With regard to your comment about never seeing a clean head-to-head between him and Hanyu, giving Hanyu his due respect, the reason for that is because (as NBC stated at '21 Worlds) Hanyu has not skated two clean programs back-to-back with all +GOE and full rotation on all his jumping passes since 2015. Everyone remembers Hanyu's injury in '17, so perhaps that only exacerbated things for him. In contrast, Nathan has skated many back-to-back clean programs, such as at the '19 Worlds, '19 GPF, and many others. Even his two Olympic programs here had no deductions or negative GOE on any element.

      It's stupid, too, because if you know anything about American cultural ideals, particularly those around sports and sporting, you will understand that we love to win, but we do not love to win like THIS. We have a (misguided, but still) deep, cultural belief in our own moral superiority (for better or for worse). This is why, when our athletes are caught doping (Lance Armstrong, anyone?), we turn on them instantly for shaming us rather than defending them to the death (like Russians do when their athletes dope, for example). The fact that our athletes dope as much as the next guy is irrelevant, because we know that they aren't participating in systemic, state-sanctioned doping, so that makes us "better than." I have a problem with all of it, frankly, but you're never going to catch someone like Nathan Chen with a question like that, because his actual, and to be fair, HONEST answer will ALWAYS be that it's not up to him, doping is bad, but he just waits for the authorities to decide. Because for Americans and American athletes, it is ingrained in us from our earliest moments that a win is not legitimate if we had to wheel and deal (or worse, to cheat) to get it. At least, not publicly.

    Nathan's Rocketman routine is up on the Olympic channel but they cut the ending short when Nathan's huge smile came across his face and he celebrated skating off because he knew he nailed it! That was the capper imo - I hope someone else uploads it or they upload a big longer version showing his joy at the end because he was having SO much fun- as were we watching him! The music medley arrangement is incredible picked from both the movie versions of Yellow Brick Road, Rocketman with Bennie and the Jets (Logic's remix). Just go watch it. Then watch it again. 🚀🚀👏👏 He has a landing right when Rocketman crescendos and it's UNREAL.

    Great sportsmanship of Nathan Chen! He didn't have to recognize Hanyu who has been on a losing streak to Nathan since 2018. But Nathan did even Fanyus have been very mean to him !

    • @sl4917
      @sl4917 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I agree. Nathan is so humble and well-rounded. I love yuzu, too, but fanyus are just unbearably annoying and some, even boarder-line sociopathic, which always makes the comment section under Nathan’s videos really unbearable. It’s good that this one remained civil, at lease for now.

    • @Gemini530
      @Gemini530 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I know. Delusional fanyus always making everything about Hanyu. Always discrediting Nathan. They're so delusional that when reading some of their comments, they still believe that Hanyu should've still won. Crazy people

      @@Gemini530 You’re being very hypocritical! You’re being rude about Yuzu’s fans. How are we delusional? Let’s get one thing straight, Yuzu, even though he came fourth, is the only other skater other than those 3 that have been mentioned several times. As good as Nathan is, he will never be called the GOAT, never ever. Yuzu’s career as a competitive skater is coming to an end, please show him the respect he so richly deserves. This is not the way for you to rejoice in Nathan’s gold medal win. I’m not one if Nathan’s fans but I’d like to say congratulations to him on winning the gold medal.

    • @Gemini530
      @Gemini530 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Lynda Fay ... How am I hypocritical and rude? I'm only telling the truth. You delusional fanyus have been discrediting Nathan. Always insinuating that he does not deserve his victories. That it should be Hanyu every time Nathan beats Hanyu. And thank goodness Hanyu's career is over. Hopefully, we don't see you fanyus anymore. The GOAT is the one who holds records, and that is Nathan, not Hanyu. Only fanyus would insist that Hanyu is GOAT, but the truth is, it's Nathan. Hanyu's been losing to Nathan in the last 4 years. Nathan is the new GOAT. Hanyu is a has been.

    Seriously! CNN being totally obnoxious!!! 😡 Nathan has worked SO hard over his lifetime for this and he JUST won! They want to immediately drag him into the political/social mess!! I’m not ignoring that there are real challenges, but let him and us have a moment of celebration and happiness outside of the madness! Many of us Americans and I dare say most (the news does not show us) absolutely DO NOT have any kind of hatred toward Asians or any other people group. Don’t try to use our beloved champion Nathan at such a special moment to try to recover your crappy ratings!!!😡 😡

    • @sl4917
      @sl4917 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I know right. He had already got so much hate from the Chinese natives. I’m Chinese so I have read a ton of negative comments on him. He is humiliated on Chinese social media at every aspect on a daily basis, from his costume to his appearance, from his style to his skating skills. They even called him a cheater because they believe his high scores can only be tribute to his American nationality. It all started with Nathan commenting on the Xinjiang problem and about how the Chinese government was treating the Uyghurs in an interview, though the Chinese officials never really reacted to that, the Chinese social media just exploded and immediately branded him an ass-licking American and China-hater. On top of that, the Chinese fanyus were more than happy to push the hate towards Nathan even forward. So my heart really missed a beat when I heard the CNN reporter asked Nathan about the criticism from the Chinese netizens. Thank god Nathan dodged that bullet and answered with grace. I just cannot see another wave of Nathan hate from my people.

      But the Asian hate is true though. During the height of COVID in 2020, lot Asian Americans, especially elderly grandmas got pushed around, shoved on the street, get pushed in front of a metro train, 6 murdered prostitutes in Atlanta, a grandma get beaten up in San Francisco, an Asian kid got beaten up in the subway train, and so many more. Asian hate crime climbed 200% during 2020 - 2021. It was sad to see why they even pick on poor helpless elderlies most importantly.
