    China and India are brothers.
    Do not be disturbed by those ignorant western media.
    China and India are great ancient civilization and both of us have great potential to become global super power as it was before.
    Respect to India from China.

      +sung kim Not necessarily, considering India is a democracy and China is communist. China is closer with Russia than it is with India, at the moment.

      +David Chang China is communist and Vietnam is communists but they don't like each other

    • @hojichi
      @hojichi 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +David Chang partially true in term of internal politics, ie the PLA belong to the CCP and not the chinese people. but running the country's economic and foreign affair, it is capitalism, tho not so perfect. So even countries like Japan, Vietnam and some other asean countries may dislike the Chinese communist party. but they still do businesses with them. in any case, india and china relationship is far more better between the North and south korea. :D

      India and Taiwan are brothers but not China as China is still occupied by fascist Dictators.
      India and Taiwan are both democracies.

      Exactly, The relationship between China and India should not be incited by US. Anywhere US goes, they inflicts conflicts and reap the benefits for their own. The people of China and India have the wisdom to deal their problems. US should leave them alone.

      +Simon Bartlett Bty, nobody is willing to share the pie with anybody cuz everybody in Asian countries are competing with each other in the economy war. However, America is the benefactors since many Chinese heavily invest in the real estate and other industries in the USA. Indians tend to invest in UK, Canada, Australia and other former British colonies.

      If India and China stretch out hands of friendship and cooperation, they will avoid war with each other, benefit billions of people and become major forces for good in the world. It is fundamentally important for all the good, peace-loving people of both countries to dominate the relationship, and not allow aggressive nationalists to hold sway.

      it would be great if the majority of Indian population converts to Christianity, deism or atheism. Religions like hindu and islam are bad for advancement.

    • @BallyBoy95
      @BallyBoy95 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Adonis Guy Though I'm an atheist, I think you're ignorance on India's religions is deeply disturbing. Hinduism allows for atheism, they're vegetarians, it has no central scripture like Christians have the Bible (which preaches rape, if you've studied the Deutronomy chapters), Torah (Moses kills the non-Jews of Madina) and Qu'ran (too much to list in a single bracket).
      Hinduism has anti-caste scriptures, and pro-caste scriptures, upon the British invasion of the subcontinent, they reinforced it for 200 years, to ensure control.
      Hinduism is perhaps the only secular religion in the world, it has proverbs that state, "there are many paths, whichever you or your friend chooses, they all lead to the same destination," which means it doesn't matter which God you choose, all will find peace.
      Hinduism actually supports the Big Bang theory and Space-time dilation, ask any devout Hindu and they'll tell you that.
      Basically, I've studied India all my life. And your comment is stupid, India could do with less Christianity/Islam, two religions that did not enter India peacefully. India never had any anti-science period, where Christianity and Islam killed people who denied their holy books, because Hindus actually have a God of education, Ganesh, and you must study in order to worship him.
      Also, Chrisitianity has the crusades and inquisitions, Islam has their bloody conquests with religious cleansing, what did the Hindus do?? NONE of that.
      Please, study India, visit the damn place if you like. Just don't post stupid comments like Hinduism is backwards. It is perhaps the most progressive religion I've ever studied in my life. I personally, just can't believe it with all their Gods (though most Hindus believe there is only one God, that manifests itself into billions of entities), nonetheless, if you've studied enough history, you'll realise that the most mainstream religion depends on geography, where you are, and the time, if you're in pre-0BC Persia or Greece, everyone's Zoroastrian and Hellenistic. If you're in 2000AD Persia and Greece, everyone is Muslim and Christian, because the Muslims and Christians killed them all, raped their women and enslaved their healthy strong children.

      I m from india, i m a brahmin by birth and if i had such liberties i wouldn't b fucking up my time on youtube.. I have never even heard of such incident. The Caste System still lives among remote rural areas, who r too stubborn to change. Rest of india has gone beyond it, I really wonder what else wrong u have been teached by ur teachers.
      Being Brahmin gives you no edge.. there r brahmins who r poor, uneducated, or in jails for crimes. just like any other person would have been in their place.

    I am a Chinese, I think the biggest problem in India. Is their caste system. And the low efficiency of the western democratic political system. Caste system makes their social polarization, people can not put their power in one place, resulting in a more unfair society than china. Obvious Western democratic system is not suitable for use in a country with an economy and the quality of the population is less advanced. In fact, when the western advanced countries in the industrial revolution, their system is not a democratic system. Both China and India have brilliant ancient times. In 1960, our economy and infrastructure were the same.

    One cannot compare the two countries, you have to remember India, one of the largest economies for hundreds of years, was stripped of it's trade and commerce by the British for centuries, whereas China had no such problem.
    India has had to rebuild this economy from scratch post independence.
    Now India is developing it's innovation on innovation not copies, and cheap products. I remember the time when Taiwan went the same way, reproducing that same formula works for a while, but then the consumer tends to become wary of the quality and longevity of a product.
    Innovation and new ideas is what India has been in the forefront off, and will promote the growth. As with education, well look at the tech industry and the medical circles, India leads in Pharma development and software innovation.
    To continue to demolish farmland and move into industry causes more conflict within the economy of a county, as how are you going to feed the population in the long term. This is why democracy, and financial sensibilities are more important than putting an international image of success by rapid building enforced by a government, that sees rents too high for the normal person is not the best idea.
    Growing and development takes time and as they say Rome was not built in a day, which China is trying to do, to it's own risk.
    India maybe slow, but it does not enforce on people, but encourages people to develop, this is what the world has forgotten, it is the people that make the country, the country do not make the people.

      i usually dont comment,but allow me to highlight some facts about india , many people here seem to be ignorant about india , if china can do in 20 years , india too can do it in next 20 years , dont forget china and india were almost same in 1990's with respect to economy , living standards , poverty , literacy , everything. india got culture which it preserves , unlike china who is losing on this by betting on money , eventually if this trends goes on , like most chinese people here comment , - then chinese people will end up - working extra hours to pay bills / fill gas in car and again pay bills to work even more extra hours , you cannot eat money ! and this is what india do not desire! we are free people , our govt. may be corrupt , but it does not kill its own citizens like chinese govt. did in 1989 in tianmen square by using battle tanks and assault rifles on people and kids ,battle tanks are to protect people and i can clearly see many chinese educated ignorant people who comment here seem to support such autocracy, and i am glad to inform this is what indian govt. is not capable of doing in a million years ! so good luck to china if they want money at cost of fundamental rights , even USA , they developed un-constitutional zones which ripped off fundamental rights of its citizens, i mean does today's obama govt. question the first independence draft prepared by thomas jefferson in 1800's? and most indians would agrre with me that - indians dont want to be top of world , we just want to be happy , thats it , so good luick china and USA with all your money talk and richness , also until recently land was govt, property in china , so basically if you want to build a road in china , govt, kust storms in people home and tell them to get out and they build roads instantly , but govt. here in india takes people permission to build roads , and thats called civilization if some one is educated here ! but on the other hand let me also tell you people some notable achievements despite of all these hurdles- india has 3 aircraft carriers (1 more developed indigeniously , now undergoing sea trials), china has none , china builds fighter jets indigenously but engines are built under license from russia , china does not own fighter jet engine ,india built own fighter jet engines and fully indeginous aircrafts , also built indeginoues combat fighter in sevice called LCA tejas fully indian except some avionic subsystems from israel, china still developing J- 20 that too with russian engine, and has no indiginous technology to built fighter jet , only build engines in china under license from russia , india indigenously built submarines which also have nuclear capablities ,china does not even have subamrines with deployed nuke bombs, meaning india can launch nuclear bombs from submarines (& our missile like agni 5 can reach beijng even if they launch from delhi, just imagine if we fire nukes by BRAHMOS from submarine from south china sea which has best accuracy till date of +_ 2 metres and it also flies with close proximity to ground as low as 2 metres so that enemy radar cannot detect it , and hits target within 5 seconds , its on of the best missile develped whereas china nuke bombs are shit ! yeah okay big loads , but takes time to reach delhi and also highly inaccurate about 100 m here and there , dont believe me google it ! )and indian submarines got stealth tech. which cannot be detected as of todays technology (since it has stealth technology and no technology developed till today to detect stealth), india got worlds fastest cruise missile called - brahmos developed with russia on 50-50 parity basis, russia india also makind the best fighter fifthe generation jet now called sukhoi/HAL FGFA which wil be best fighter , yes ! better than USA F - 22 raptor , india also develping AMCA (advanced combat fighter which will be first of its type delivered around 2022), fifth generation fighter jet, india sent successful mission to mars , china has not !, indian space programs till date got 80 % success rates , like many nations including USA , china,japan,russia sent mission to moon , indias only 2nd mission to moon discovered water on moon , forget china - not even usa did that ! so india has also achieved phenomenal success inspite of all problems , now some people may argue here that - india must feed its hungry people first then go for mission to mars , i also felt same way - but then i realised our PM words - to feed poor you need people - and for people to be there - you need national security - which comes from investing in defence - thats why india invest so much in defence , millitary,air force,navy , so basically india battling with poverty and development (its called R&D) at the same time , and thats commendable , whereas china only best at copying things , today china fears indian navy , we have hold over china oil supply - which is directly through indian ocean , so dont indulge in fights , india for one has always taught the world - yoga , peace , satyagraha , never invaded any nation in history of thousand years , but all this gave wrong message to world , hence , we suffered a lot in hostory - separation from pakistan , bangladesh, POK kashmir , aksai china, fought 5 wars till date with pakistan & 1 with china , but now india learnt it lessons bigtime from history and hence today is the biggest arms importer of arms and defence technology and also one of the biggest producer of arms and defence tech. , you know what - in 1970 india urged in UNO that nuclear weapons be abolished and destroyed , and guess what UNO council let indian PM down , so india was basically forced to adopt the nuclear bombs and hence we did nuke test in 1971 , so dont point out at india , india alwys been peacefull nation .. and will want to be so for ever in future unless national integrity is compromised ! and about india china - rich and poor - i say indians would like to live and die as they wish , no one question it and democracy gives us that , unlike chinese autocracy where common man not allowed to speak about any wrong doings of govt. and if any politician/minister is caught doing corruption(the ferrari case) the minister is hanged without proper and fair trial ! indian laws taked years to give result but i am happy that it does not punish innocent or give proper punishment as given in the law and constitution , yeas india got largest written constitution and law book , ask law attorneys in your nation who come to india to learn law ! unlike the british or US or chinese judges/juries where 10 juries decide the punishment and decide wheter its criminal act or not .also , indian film industry (bolywood forms only 20 %) is biggest and largest film industry in the world - yes like 3 times bigger than holywood ! i am lucky to be born in india i would like to be born/re-incarnate for next 10 lives even IF it has to be in slums which are free & lively in spirit and mingle to bolywood music than being born in lifeless skyscrapers of shanghai and beijing where humans are machines and dream about money , eat money , and god knows may be even sleep with money , i dont talk rubbish like this but some comments here made me do this ! opologies again if anyone felt my language was offensive ....i feel instead india & china got million things to learn from each other , and we must concentrate on that rather than fighting youtube war ! and please do write to me at wadjevishal@yahoo.com, if you got anything more to share knowledge on , i am all ears to share knowledge and make friends, even if they are chinese , lol ....

      then worst of al lis - income inequality - china ranks in top 5 nation among majot nations for income inequality , there is huge probeem of economic and regional disparity within china itself - west chinese regions feel left out as chinese govt. focuses on east coastal stated to develop. paying much less focus on west regions .

    China opened up markets in 79, India did in 91. With a leverage of English, India did race ahead if you go year by year. For India, its a long way to catch up with China. But i am sure, it definitely WILL. I dont see a war. I see a regional partnership which would be the basis of next great dominance of Asia.

    The difference between China and India is what the government allows you to see. You see in India there is press/media freedom and they report the very worst and the best, the government can't really regulate it(yes I'm not oblivious to corruption and government influence). In China, the government controls the media, don't kid yourselves China has a substantial poverty issue but you don't hear about it nearly as much because its against what the government wants the world to see. Now no doubt India's problems are larger than China and democracy is chaotic and corrupt, but to say India won't ever be near China or its a joke to compare India and China is kind of short sighted.

    • @ravi8490
      @ravi8490 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** Actually according to the IMF the average income per capita is $5400 in India and China is $10000. According to the international poverty line 20-25% of people in India are below that according to different sources. For China, less data exists, no doubt, but according to the CIA factbook about 15% live under the poverty line. Now granted the poverty line is only $2 per day so thats very low but I never denied India's problems are bigger, just said China has their share of problems too but no one talks about them because there is no press freedom and a lot of propaganda, no denying that.

    Shouldn't the focus point be "democracy" vs "despotism"? Real democracy only comes when people are not struggling with hunger and death. Only when people are healthy and wealthy, they will think about changes, and make changes come true. You will only think more and catch up with or to a higher level once you don't have to worry about starvation. Comparing with the despair woman in India and the dissatisfied man who was forced to move to urban house in China, their anger or dissatisfaction are different.

      Heres something to add to your point, in the last 30 years Indian economic growth lifted about 300 million people out of poverty. Great right? But at the same time about 350 million were born into poverty, although the % of the countries' population in poverty has reduced, the absolute number of people in poverty has increased. Without population control, India will collapse onto itself because even as of now, their economy can't produce enough jobs for its youth, yet they continue to reproduce like crazy.

    The lack of freedom in China is really exaggerated by the West, I am an ABC and I lived in Australia all my life...when I go to China for a few months I could barely feel how my freedoms are being restricted...probably because politics is my least concern, and I'm sure that's the same for the 1.3 billion Chinese people out there. Politics is almost like a television show they watch on TV - it's what they talk about but they don't really want any involvement, they all want a good life, and they seem to be having it. In China's middle class today, the wealth gap seems to be giving people less freedom than the government.

  • @liang8255
    @liang8255 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    India is a far more democratic and diversed society than China, it has better eduction, media, and innovation. Its weakness is also these: there is no synergy that you feel that can sweep away obstacles like China does, synergy is very important in growth (even in dictatorship). The very poor or even devastating infrastructure in India is also caused by such freedom, and the wealth of India lays in some private people and company. The Indian government is not powerful and rich.
    China is totally on the other side, for very long time people are trained to think like one (even until I was young in the 80s and early 90s), China is not a democratic country but it's a lot more democratic than it used to be! You can talk about loads of stuff that 20 years ago you will go to jail for! China has that synergy like a juggernaut! Politics is above everything in China, government holds all resources and power, everytime they throw one card out, there is surge of growth like earthquake, they still has loads of cards to play. Chinese government is rich! When needed, they can throw out 600-700 billion USD cash for investment, and do it again in few years when necessary, no country can do that today! And that's why China is moving like a juggernaut.
    Both China and India is moving very fast and to a bright direction, and there are many changes happening within. China is turning into dealers/buyers/investors than producers (cost is getting too high), the income has to come from other sources. India still has large pool of way cheaper labor forces, I think India will remain as producer and enjoy the profit it makes and attract more investors for such purpose even Chinese investors.
    I think China is really on the edge or brink of major change, in the next 10 years, Chinese export will steadily decrease while imports surge, Chinese needs to learn and execute investment wisely. Production in China will remain mostly for domestic demand. This shift is deceisive for China for its future income.
    India on the other hand, needs to focus on its synergy, sharpening its infrastructure (which is the main obstacle now) for further growth, do sth with cast system, give people a better chance. But I think India is not facing its fatal change now, the country will keep its track for some times in the future and keep income growth.
    As the last gentleman mentioned, 40% of the world doing good will somehow help the rest 60%. I really think European shattering economy and US debt surge (now over 17 T UDS) will be eased from this. And both Europe and US will be once again economically viable (income bigger than cost).

      you should learn human socio-economic development history - there is little correlation between a democratic model and economic development.
      In fact all autocratic government would develop much faster and better than democratic ones, NONE of the modern day "champions of democracy" were remotely democratic during their economic development. the US/UK developed way before they adopted universal sufferage and equal rights to all races (still a problem in 2014 US).

Actually, Chinese people's self-confidence is increased rapidly, but we just discuss with other Chinese, we never showed any aggressive attitude in thousands years just like we never sailed thousands of kilometers over the sea to invade other countries.... Remember, China will always rise peacefully.

    The fact is, there is no way for some journalists of BBC, even with the help of some external experts, to be able to figure out the real detailed capabilities of countries as HUGE and COMPLEX as China and India. My guessing is that BBC already HAD a point of view in mind before going to China and India, and their reporters simply PICK things they want to, in order to substantiate or imply their point of view.
    Unfortunately, the truth is, China produces basically EVERYTHING. One can hardly list all things China produces, and maybe trying to list things China cannot produce is possible: big commercial plane, super carrier, Saturn-V-size rocket, what else?
    And innovation is still not as good as some western post-industrial countries, which is quite normal, but everywhere. Probably the scale of innovation of China is dimmed by its massive industrial production? Or simply BBC reporters intentionally neglect all the fancy stuffs within those Chinese mega cities like Shanghai, Beijing, HongKong, Shenzhen, etc? Or simply they lack language skill or culture background to be able to find these innovation.
    In a word, this vid worth a watch, but it is ugly biased.
    Attention: everything above is for questioning BBC of distorting truth, but not for belittling India, another great nation as China is. The thing is, as two of the world most populous developing countries, these two countries don't want to indulge themselves into the western-designed "China vs India" mentality trap. Working together, these two countries have a huge synergy to burst. After more than 200 years of western world domination, it's time Asia's turn again.

    Too many of our western political experts who are speaking about China, USSR and former “communist” countries are constantly embarrassing them selves as complete ignorants on the matter. It is not enough read media to gain some knowledge, it is absolutely necessary to study profoundly the political history and political philosophy in order to understand meaning of basic words such as Socialism and Communism and not to forget Capitalism.
    Accepting populist labelling of each of these three words means making absolutely crucial mistake and present yourself as complete ignorant. That kind of populism will probably work in pub or in some private circle of equally thinking ignorants.
    First of all, each of systems has its theoretical - scientific explanation and they are absolutely different from populist descriptions. Let me give you very quick precise theoretical descriptions:
    Capitalism is a political system where minority rules majority on a pretext of democracy which is farcical as no one government is asking population for their opinion even about vital and for their life crucial decisions. Government is in a hands of minority corporate representatives, and all they do is to protect and serve to this minority. Population is left behind in poverty and ignorance.
    Socialism is a political system which has main purpose to transform unjust capitalist system towards just political system called communism where in theory people would be treated equally and there would be no material differences between them. Socialism as such can arise only when capitalism reaches its top (imperialism) and antagonism amongst ruling party and people would reach its point. Socialism does not require revolution and is actually unwelcome as causes wide destruction.
    Socialism is a system in which are merging capitalism inequality and political equality tendency. That basically means that in socialism there is still private property but it is getting more and more controlled by society and through generations it will de-solve as the society will develop towards equality. Private property will be more and more controlled by the people and the distribution of profits will become more and more fair as the system will ensure that those who work and create profit have larger share than those who claim profit in name of capital (which was always created by other working people). This process takes centuries and is democratic without any trace of violence.
    Communism is only theoretical end line which in reality cannot be reached but serves as a beacon towards which humanity should drive.
    Of course these descriptions are very short and not scientific, they are basic to understand that so called experts are speaking about things that they do not understand.
    China is in reality country with real socialist political system where private initiative is parallel to state supervising system. This system prevents private interests to over-exploit workers and to amass huge profits by stealing profits created by workers. No system is just only that socialism is more just than capitalism and it will become more and more just as the time passes by and by democratic regulations reduces percentage of profit grab by capitalists.
    Making comparison between India and China is pretty naïve. I have been in both countries for a quite lengthy time and know that India is that far behind China that it will need 3 - 4 decades to reach nowadays China.
    In 1978 I spent 8 months in China on business and if I compare then China with nowadays India than I would say that there you are. Since then China did quantum leap and reached absolutely impossible level of development. I can assure you that if 1978 China would be capitalist democracy as India, than you can bet your last penny that today there would be no difference between them. Only thanks to real socialism and above all official collapse of cold war and disintegration of USSR, no one really paid any attention to china and every one was expecting as there are still some who still believe that China will collapse at any moment.
    As China was left undisturbed and all attention was turned towards Russia no one realised that the dragon form far east started to fly, and how. Nowadays there is no neither military let alone economic power which can press China. China and its socialism is future, no matter if you like it or not.

    India's growth is chaotic, spontaneous, from bottom to top, despite the government. China's growth is organized, streamlined, regulated, top to bottom, by the government. China has a huge trade surplus with the west especially the United States. It means China's surplus is in U.S. Treasury bonds, government bonds, U.S. Dollars but that is exactly the problem. We are actually selling our fiscal deficit, our Federal Reserve paper to the Chinese who are ACTUALLY giving us their goods, their finished products and other services in exchange. It's like worthless selling sand at a premium on the seashore. If they are stupid enough to buy our fancy paper...well, we ain't complaining. The Unites States' willingness and ability to honor China's surplus is at best wishful thinking and best case scenario, but a highly unlikely scenario. Those of us that live in the United States know that very well. China can only use part of this trade surplus to import, basically means import little and pretend it still has huge purchasing power. And by systematically undervaluing their own currency against the US Dollar they are under the impression that their trade surplus is getting that much bigger. Because if it really wanted to utilize 100% of this purchasing power, they are looking at War with us. Short of that there's no other threat they can use and we know very well that they will not want to go to war because that would only mean self-destruction and nothing achieved but everything lost. So in the short term and the long term, for a little bit of bargaining power here and there they've hedged their entire future on the premise of the American economy one day magically turning around, the entire fiscal debt wiped out and Uncle Sam is "rich" one again, just like the good guy winning at the end of every movie.
    China's huge and unreal trade surplus is actually a toxin, like spoiled milk. You can taste some of this spoiled milk of your finger just to impress the onlooker with the gallons of milk that you have in reserve, but try drinking a cupful of this milk, it will give you food poisoning, trying consuming a liter and you will end up in the E.R., try gulping down a gallon and you will be dead.

      And how much has the Indian rupee fallen in the international forex market as you were speaking...Yeah, China is so stupid that the RMB currently stands closest as the next international reserve currency that replaces the US dollar!
      "China can only use part of this trade surplus to import, basically means import little and PRETEND it still has huge purchasing power." Not everything has to be imported as China is the world's biggest manufacturer, with the abundance of her own resources herself! And I am sure you know how cheap she is, thus the huge purchasing power! :)
      So, China being the largest markets in the world for cars, internet, rails and hi-speed trains, renewable energy, steel, mobile phone, f&b and etc. all meant nothing to you? And I couldn't even mention all...She having some of the world's largest internet, telecommunications & its equipments design and manufacturing, computer, banking, oil, steel, ship building, design and construction, train building, port & airport management companies and corporations, is as good as an illusion to you?! Ranked 2nd as the country with the most billionaires also meant nothing to you? Chinese tourists are now the "darling" of the world! All these while still managing to maintain as the world's fastest growing major economy...Everything is hot air or is it your head that is burning?
      "Short of that there's no other threat they can use and we know very well that they will not want to go to war because that would only mean self-destruction and nothing achieved but everything lost." Speaking of others again... :) Do you have a mirror or, one that is well-polished ? You think China is depending on the "benevolence" of the US? :) You really did think China was dumb, huh? :)
      "So in the short term and the long term, for a little bit of bargaining power here and there they've hedged their entire future on the premise of the American economy one day magically turning around, the entire fiscal debt wiped out and Uncle Sam is "rich" one again, just like the good guy winning at the end of every movie." Well, I guess China had no real practical alternative here, due to the USD being an international currency. Besides, China is now the biggest trading country!..
      But, anyway in such a case, the US may well lose much more than China, not forgetting that only part of China's trade earnings from the US has been coverted to buying US bonds and treasuries & probably by then, Chinese RMB can out standard the USD being the global currency of choice. Chinese gold reserves can also cushion her from the fallout, being a major, if not the world's biggest gold producer herself.
      I can be sure then that the USD will be out of favor as the world's currency and China has no more need for USD reserves, something which will hurt, most of all, the US and some of her closest allies who have all along been the biggest buyer of her bonds and treasuries! Imagine the impact on her goodwill standing in the world! The impact will be nothing short of the financial version of a global Nuke terrorism, the destruction of which on international financial markets will be more than comparable to the combined fallout from the Great Depression and the 2 World Wars! In short, nobody really gains from such an Apocalyptic financial world order!
      The US will drag her feet for as long as possible on her debt issue.. In the meantime, China has already gotten more than her "deserved" payback and is edging more and more on the supremacy of the US global financial position :)
      Last but not least, you sure had a good sense of humor :) Maybe you should turn in a script to Hollywood? Oops! Sorry I have forgotten it had been "bought over" by China :)

      I was just trying to make a very technical point to our Chinese friend Mr.Yi but he took it in the wrong spirit. With the trade surplus that China has with the U.S. in terms of buying power, logically it should make their average citizen, not their state but even their citizens, among the wealthiest in the world almost on par with the Saudis or the Swiss but it is not so. They are still among the world's poorest. It's like saying Mr.Fadhili, I have kept lending you millions of dollars at a very interest rate because you keep borrowing from me. So that should make me a billionaire, on paper at least. But that would be true only if Mr.Fadhili has the means and the intention to repay all my debt with the interest accrued. You can keep throwing fancy gifts at me to buy some time. Now what does that make me? A wealthy billionaire or a foolish banker? That's exactly the case of the United States and China. The U.S. keeps telling China, here, take some more of our paper and give us more credit. It's like the story of David and Goliath. China thinks it's the new world Goliath but when Goliath fell to David's little stones, his own weight crushed him to death.
      The United States is a great lover but a treacherous spouse. Anybody that has read some history should know.

    India's growth is on the other hand, sustainable. It's much smaller trade surplus is easily manageable or "dumpable". For example, you can easily sell (or spend) $100 (India's) worth of fake currency without a significant risk of being discovered, but if you had to get rid of (or spend) say, $10 million (China's), that's a huge risk with a 90 to 10 chance of being discovered. Your $10 million has now become a noose around your own neck, like a "toxic asset", you can show it off to your neighbor to make him envy you but you can't use it. Like the saying "water water everywhere but not a drop to drink".
    And in addition to the figurative $100 India has the advantage of democracy, however detrimental to national growth. The individual is protected, there are labor laws and courts and trade unions, a thousand political parties, decentralization of government, however corrupt.
    China can build a bullet train from Beijing to Shanghai in record time, record budget and to perfection. In India, it's government will spend 20 years in just trying to acquire the land needed to lay the railroad tracks from the thousands of land owners. Here, unlike China, the state cannot send a truckload of troops to your doorstep, put a gun to your head and tell you that your land is not yours anymore. In fact, it never was, everything ultimately, even the individual is the property of the state.

    • @ManHeyuan
      @ManHeyuan 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sustainable economy? Well, that is pretty self-denying, isn't it? :) Simply a small chunk of the sustainable portion of the Chinese economy is larger than the whole Indian Economy :)
      Is Democracy necessary an advantage? If anything, I think this is a fallacy! Democratic Greece never blossomed into the Roman empire which remains the pride of the Western world until today! Everyone is "worshiping" democracy as the holy grail of sociopolitical systems when it's all just a belief, as illusive as Communist Utopia :)
      But the most important thing is, China is not resting on her laurels, saying her system is all perfect and everything...And there is strong demand from the masses and certain quarters of the govt. for some form of democratic reforms (this does not equate to Western style universal suffrage, I'm sure but rather some form of semi-democracy which may just be more sustainably suited to China's long term needs).
      Remember, pride often comes before a fall and complacency is the surest sign of ill-afforded pride :)
      "And in addition to the $100 India has the advantage of democracy, however DETRIMENTAL to NATIONAL GROWTH. The individual is protected, there are labor laws and courts and trade unions, a thousand political parties, decentralization of government, HOWEVER CORRUPT."
      "China can build a bullet train from Beijing to Shanghai in record time, record BUDGET and to PERFECTION. In India, it's government will spend 20 YEARS in just trying to acquire the land needed to lay the railroad tracks from the thousands of land owners."
      "water water everywhere but not a drop to drink" - Speaking of others... :)
      Even if everything is the property of the state in China, the average Chinese still fares much better than his Indian counterpart, with a higher standard of living in provision of education, income, transportation, healthcare, engineering, housing, and the list goes on...
      India and China should not get self-consolation prizes comparing with each other..At least, that's from the Chinese viewpoint - there's simply no sense of achievement and satisfaction :)

    • @perikaveera4438
      @perikaveera4438 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm just trying to put it in perspective, maybe just the way I see it, not trying to be biased or something. The Chinese people that I've worked with in the U.S. are among the most intelligent, hard working and focused of any linguistic group that I've seen. Not the same with Indians, they may be smart given their advantage with the English language but not very hard working or focused- actually they are lazy.
      My concern is not the Chinese trade surplus with the U.S. but the U.S.'s ability to honor that trade surplus. It's like putting all your eggs in one basket and we all here know this is not a safe basket, it's bottom has a invisible but huge hole. We saw that during the housing market crash, it's the middle class, working class and the retired pensioners who were the biggest losers. My uncle is 78, retired, had a comfortable 401K. He lost all his savings and even had to mortgage his house which he eventually forfeited. Instead of publicly protesting, he took a job at Walmart because in his words, you have to eat food in order to live in order to protest. So this is our government's lack of regulation of the Wall Streeters that caused this to our own people, not yet the Chinese.
      In India's case, you've heard the saying- one who is down need fear no fall. I mean if you fall from 10 feet you gonna have a broken leg but if you fall from 100 feet you gonna have a broken skull.

    • @perikaveera4438

      And you're right, these too Asian giants should not be trying to get consolation prizes by putting the other down or by comparing, instead should focus on healthy competition and diversifying their economic portfolios, away from the U.S. Treasury/Federal Reserve. Just like China had suggested a new global currency to replace the dollar. Try to gather support for that and get other nations on board. Because our country's habitual accumulation of debt is hurting us more than you can imagine. This is Richard Nixon's sad legacy.

      ridiculous. Many peasants in China are hoping for Land expropriation because this is the fast way to become rich. Sure, in the past there are some human rights abuse in land expropriation, but that's just a small portion, and such phenomenon is becoming rare and rare.
      Actually, almost every poor peasant has at least a piece of land, while in India most peasants don't own even a piece of land. In India, the land are owned by rich people, which is very different from China.

    Is democracy useful? Of course.
    However, democracy needs foundation. Otherwise, it will postpone the development of a country. China has poor democracy base currently. If now the communist party collapsed and two parties show up and hold election, it will be a catastrophe. Just see Thailand now. From my own perspective, India also doesn't own a good democracy base.
    What Mainland China should do now is to learn from Taiwan, an area (or country) changing from totalitarian to democracy smoothly.
    Btw, east asia, especially the Great Chinese Area, is really a funny place. Taiwan has both democracy and freedom. Hong Kong has full freedom but no democracy. China mainland has freedom, which is limited in some specific are, and has no poor democracy. And North Korea........eh.........nothing to say

      are you sure you know what happened in Taiwan? The first elected former leader is in jail. and another one's approval rate under 10%. could you imagine such thing happen in mainland? now you talk funny Chinese area, what do you think of Singapore? Freedom and democracy? LoL

      Roy Wang Of course I know what happened there, because most of my family members are Taiwaneses. Tân Tsuí-Pínn is an alarm for Taiwanese democracy. You can't imagine such a young democratic entity doesn't make any mistakes. After the election, Ma Ying-jeou's popularity goes down. This is partly due to rising price of water and electricity and other political issues. From my perspective, Even if Tsai Ing-wen came to power, these problems are also extremely hard to solve. What democracy works now is to give Taiwaneses an lesson, so that four year later they can choose a better politician as their president. Can mainland people choose their leader to solve social problem?

      Roy Wang But also thank you for reminding me of singapore, which combines Confucianism and politics. Maybe it's a better for Mainland to learn from.

    China's innovation is focused on high-end technology, science and technology is the most important, low end manufacturing industry is not important as long as the quality is good.
