a couple of tips\observations, one, it is better to get a soft bag, or hard case than have bubble wrap (you can only use the wrap once!), but a bag you can use for a lifetime!, also a 'hack' to save wear on the hinge of the rear standard, FLIP the front standard on the tilt axis so the locking bar and screw is facing the outside ( this puts the thick wood between the focus bed and the rear standard frame, so removing any play, and chance of the screws wobbling loose while transporting the camera folded up). one final tip, for 8x10" the standard focal length is 300mm not the number you quote on the video, 4x5" is 150mm, and I think 5x7 is 180 or 210, these are with the native format double darks, NOT roll film, or reducing backs, as then the 'sensor' is smaller, Also watch out for the depth of field, as the sensor size increases the dof decreases!, so focussing is even more crutial, esp. if you are shooting wide open (f5.6 or f8\f9), where the dof is at it's most narrow, doubley sure if you are doing macro or close up!!, as dof gets thinner still at these distances.

    Nice camera
Having a new camera without a lens is like receiving a toy for Christmas and not having any batteries to put in :)

Than god I have the lens already but you forgot about the holder 😁 Oh well I will have to make one soon!

I hope to have such a camera, one day. 8x10 is a little too expensive for me right now because I have to take care of relative who is very sick.
But I do want to be able to print larger than a postcard (is really too small for landscapes). I am thinking of trying to contact print onto 4x5 film to make positive, then enlarging onto 8x10 film to make larger negative, and use the larger one to make a salt print.

Beautiful camera Nejc, the problem is that if your future videos contain you raving about your new Intrepid 8 x 10, your enthusiasm will be as infectious as always and before long I'll be eyeing up one to go along with my 4 x 5 - it's bound to happen :-D

Congratulations! is the front standart rigid enough to hold bigger Lenses? Or will it be too wobbly and could be used only with lighter lenses? Enjoy you new Camera!

We will see. I hike around alot so my lens selection is usualy leaned more towards lightweight side

Congrats on the new camera! I will forewarn you though that, assuming your 8x10 holder is the same thickness as a J Lane 8x10 holder, it's 1) not easy to insert/remove and 2) the "clasps" on the springs will pop off the back. Not too much of a big deal, but annoying nonetheless. If you derive some sort of technique for inserting/removing the holder to eliminate this issue, I'd love to see that in some future video. Enjoy shooting 8x10 dry plates...they're wonderful!

I am so glad I paid extra for the Shen Hao 4x5 and not got the Intrepid. I have friends who have intrepids and the cheap plywood construction will start to separate and warp after a while especially in humid areas.

Interesting as it never happened to me and I take my 4x5 mk2 thru rain, snow... all the time! Not a single problem and I have it for almost 4 years 🤷‍♂️

@@lostlightart6064 yeah, I'd be fairly surprised if the cabinet grade plywood they used de-laminated. If so, they should probably contact intrepid. That being said, Shen Haos are great cameras

    • @SD_Alias

To prevent that i would coat the plywood with an cheap coat of varnish…
But the 4x5 from a friend has no delamination problems although it gets wet sometimes.

Hello! They are built to withstand all weather conditions and changes in humidity. We use furniture grade birch plywood which is coated in a wax/oil based sealant to protect the wood from any changes in climate.

@@IntrepidCameraCo I’d be happy to stress test a 4x5 camera for you to show these people that don’t know the difference between Home Depot AC pine plywood and cabinet grade plywood 😉

    How long did it take?
I ordered my 8x10 on 14th May so almost 4 weeks now... I'm very impatient.
Hope to see the Zebra holders in production VERY soon ;)

Did you pay a lot of extra custom tariffs and taxes? With the new Brexit situation?
