Destiny... predestination... providence... certainty... inevitableness... sweet hands of war and peace.. secret roads of death.. silence in sound... eternity in death.... peace.. resurection.. cosmos.. eternity
The Genius of Ivo comes alive with these beautiful and seldom heard wonders from Schubert. The mature tone poet / artist is in his element. Some of the best playing I've heard from him in the recent times.
Thank you so much for recording and sharing! The quaity of recording is sooo good! Of course noyhing better than live, his live music is a true dream, cominf from another planet...gracias
maestro ivo... construye catedrales sublimes y orquestas celestiales de pureza... galaxias y coros de seres muy lejanos... que traen mensajes de paz y verdad... gracias maestro siempre... siempre master ivo... builds sublime cathedrals and celestial orchestras of purity... galaxies and choirs of very distant beings... that bring messages of peace and truth... thank you always maestro... always. "Simplicity is the highest goal, achievable when you have overcome all difficulties. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art." Chopin.
Ive been following Ivo for nearly 40 years and I'd never before heard him play Schubert. I thought he must have had some overarching aversion to Schubert (like Gould disliking Mozart). So, I'm fascinated and delighted to hear his Schubert. What other Schubert has Ivo played? Have other Schubert performances been preserved? Many thanks!
yes ,he evrytime l hesr him live Amsterdam,22. 9. 24 ,Zurich 3. 5. 24 he is better and better. one dimension more, his music was gone,22.9. absolutly love excuse my english
To my knowledge, this is the first and so far the only Schubert he has played. He played it last season as well - you can find recordings on TH-cam. Very different this year! It seems he has changed his approach from playing things slower than anyone else. How wonderful that we can listen to three of the greatest pianists of our time - Sokolov, Volodos, and Pogorelich - all play this piece in very different ways! It shows how silly it is to argue about what is and isn't in the Schubert's score. None of us know what Schubert meant - we can only pass him by, as he said.
@annagridazzi3432 oh were you? Me too! I find it him a bit less he was not fit enough I understand...( he was walking leaning and saying to the staff (I am) unstable. What did you find that night? I was in Antwerp 10 Nov he was as usual sublime an amazing sound and expression!
I would love to hear The Wanderer and the Great sonatas that Shubert wrote. I think one in Bflat key. I will check out YT first and then see if there are any DW records or dvds published. Thank you for this video.
