Hi Martin! thanks for this video :) my partner and I are planning to do this route in the early spring, but i was a bit concerned about the amount of highway walking you had to do. Could you let me know: what % of the walk was on footpaths compared to main roads?

I think it depends on the time of year. Our trip was in July and August, when lodging was a little harder to secure. As a result we modified our route to get to the various accommodations. I think if you go befor July or after August the selection will be much better. At any rate, even with our travel on the roads it was an amazing trip that I cherish. I hope you do it, take lots of pictures and video, and drop me a note when you're finished so I can congratulate you.

Hi Martin, Thanks for posting both of the videos from your trip along the Way of St Francis. How did you find the signage of the route compared to the Camino Frances? Look forward to your next trip on the Portugues.

Hi Quarentine Cyclist. The signage isn't as good but it is adequate. The biggest factor for us was the scarcity of accommodations in the summer months. It seems that many hoteliers head for the beach during the summer. We had to modify our route to find accommodations which took us off the path at times. This was no problem though because google maps was very good at identifying walking routes to anywhere you want to go.

Well done on your trip two years ago. I bet you were pleased to do it now before the pandemic hit!
I am interested in this walk ( I have also completed the Camino Frances and the Portuguese Camino) how does it compare for other pilgrims walking? We’re there other pilgrims on the route? Was it your best option to stay in Hotels on route? Hope you manage to get more walks in. I have enjoyed your videos thank you.

I know there are old videos but do you have any recommendations for hostels along the way …. Or do you know any websites to look on to find out a bit more info on accommodations … I want to go next year but am concerned about hostels etc … and how to find them

      Hi Brett,
I have a spreadsheet of accommodations that I'd be happy to send to you. It's a couple of years old so you should verify whether they are still available or not. There is also a great guide book by Sandy Brown that I think has resources for lodging. We always found places to stay, but the pilgrim infrastructure isn't as good as on the Camino de Santiago. I encourage you to go on the journey if you can. It's difficult, and worth every step. Email me at meidbo@outlook.com and I'll send you what I've got.

How much is on the road-pavement?

Quite a lot for us because of the lack of accommodations and the necessity to walk to the various places we stayed. Still, we had a great trip.
