Matt, I noticed in your video that you were having to readjust your bait on the hook a lot. Have you ever tried the Hayabusa Trailer Lock? They really help with keeping the head of the bait pinned to the hook and it stops the bait from sliding down. They also help with making the bait last longer. And you can also use them on other things like a buzzbait to help keep the trailer from sliding down.

We fish very close/similar waters and I can take this to the lake and apply it right now. No one else is really doing stuff like this, especially up here. Doing the exact same thing on one of these ~10 ft grass lines even would be money.
I fish standing from a canoe, mostly for musky, walleye and smallmouth. I’ve never tried traditional flipping for largemouth. Technique wise, my feet are at water level and the gunwales are at my shins. This restricts the angles at which I can point my rod downward to initiate and ergonomic flip motion. I picked up a quality 6’ bait caster combo (lefty) awhile back thinking I could keep the rod top out of the water with it. This video, watching you cast, and listening to your thoughts has me amped up to try it for the first time. It will be a long day as I will bring nothing else to force myself to develop an approach, but your darn videos are too inspiring. On the water beats a lecture any day. Explaining why you do what you do is way better than a lecture on why your way is the only way. Great video.

I have forward facing sonar on my boat, but punching hydrilla is my favorite thing, I live near lake Seminole, I will fortunately be able to punch for the next several months, the hydrilla really doesn’t die off til mid November sometimes almost December
Just a great video to show how to flip and pitch a jig. To physically watch you do it is so much better than to have try to explain the idea without the video.

Love the video. I agree use what knot works for you. I’m a straight shank guy when flipping since I feel I get them in the nose more. EWG havnt tried much I’d be worried about it flexing with all the grass.
Love the left hand reel, after fishing with Denny Brauer in the US Open, I have never flipped or thrown topwater on a right handed reel since. Dee Thomas used right hand reels but crossed his hands so he never hand to switch hands

Moving baits I use a right hand reel w/ rod in left hand. Baits I impart Action like the jig, Texas, Carolina, etc. or if I have to set the hook hard like with pitching, flipping, punching etc.. I'll use the opposite
I'm always curious to how much if any you bury the hook into the plastic when flipping? Just skin hook or kinda bury it to keep it plenty weedless? Also, why only the edge of the pads?
I noticed you give it about two rod pumps reel in on to next flip. Is there a reason for not fishing it a little longer back to boat I'm assuming the strike zone is area closest to flip and dead zone is moving to far away from flip area.
I noticed you had both your front graphs turned on. Obviously the ping of the units did not effect your fishing in this video but do you cut them off when close quarters fishing during tournaments?
Has it been your experience when on a good milfoil bite that after a cold front or storm comes through at night, the next day the pike start biting in the spots the bass were the day before? Seems to happen to me often and it happened this weekend on Chippewa Flowage. What adjustments do you make if you are only catching pike when you know the bass are there? ive seen pike move bass out of the milfoil they were holding on the chip. ive also seen pike sit above the bass in milfoil on the chip. meaning the bass were glued to the bottom and you had to deadstick it on the bottom
How would you compare a 4 lb smallmouth in equal fighting ability to a largemouth? Like how big would that largemouth be to equal it. I’ve only fished for them twice in the closet lake to me that has them because they aren’t local. I’ve only caught 7 and none were probably over 2 lbs. I know they keep fighting longer and seemed to be faster.
Think you had a nice river bag going there. Gave up at trying to do the cull in my head. A lot easier if the rod is in my hands. You have the same issue i had with the bait getting torn up by having to rerig time and again. My solution is a thing i found at TW. I was looking to fix the same problem, only with a fluke. Its called a parasite clip Bobber stopper - weight- clip- knot. It slides over the hook once its thru the nose. Comes to rest just below the bait. All you are doing is checking the hookpoint. Weedless ? Throw Efficient and if you dont breakoff, you get it back. Id send you one of each size, but not on a platform like you tube
i actually started out with a frog and got zero bites. i switched to flipping and smashed them...but the frog bite should turn on again in a week or so. Ill probably give it another try

just skin hook...i was pitching to an edge of milfoil outside of the pads

there are some strong fighting largemouth out there but I would probably say they fight 50% harder
I prefer shorter flipping sticks, 7' or less although I'm 5'9". Am I making a mistake?

I use a 5’ heavy action ugly stick. The shorter rod makes it way easier
