    I really like the style of this video. The "walk and talk" learning session followed by some real world application with a few fish mixed in.

    Recording video, talking on the phone, hooking into big smallies - we call that super multi-tasking. Matt calls it 'Tuesday' lol.
    Also - Have a great tournament on Guntersville! We're all rooting for you!

    I have recently come to the same conclusions about power and action for my primary flipping rod that you mention for the exact reasons discussed. No doubt your recommendations here are extremely sound. Wish I had someone explain these concepts to me years ago. Experience, on the other hand, can provide a bitter education.

    Great video. I like how the commentary is going thru the abbreviated rod build. Well done

    Time lapse video, on the water footage, and fish catches all in one video. 😎Wow, your certainly putting in the overtime 🤠….or the ice finally melted🤷‍♂️….😂
    I also do not prefer the extra fast flipping rods for safety reasons. When you make that perfect flip into the spot you know the “biguns” live and get bite by a “dink” when you set the hook the fish comes flying out of the cover/water, just misses your head, and lands out in the middle of the lake.😊
    🙏 For smooth travels to the tournament. Received my flatlands, switch blades,and stupid tube jig heads already🍺.

    Been thinking about building some of my own rods right now just doing guides tips and seats, did you realize right after you talked to Johnny you described the blank as a custom reel I thought that was funny,I even went back to see if I heard right

    I told you Matt, I can’t wait brother until you done as I would say mass produce a good 1314 rides and say hey first come first serve I would love to have a nice Flippin rod,!!!!!!!!! My only jigging worm rod is a tournament St. Croix legend 66 medium heavy I just don’t think it’s long enough and it gets me to where I need to be when I’m flipping I’m always 3 to 4 feet short of where I’m trying to aim, but when I take my 73 Triad Boyd Duckett and it’s a thick /light rod, but I just don’t think I have found the right one because I use that I actually snapped the tip of it setting the hook on a 5 1/2 pound fish which I landed if I didn’t have braid I don’t believe I would’ve got the fish in the boat but do you suggest a good flip and rod that I could buy around $150 Matt any suggestions man I would gladly take in consideration from you thank you very much Kenny the bass 💥🌘🌑

    I hope your practice has gone great & you have several waypoints to bring in the win! Got ? How did you come to know or like MHX rod blanks because there are several brands, I really like that rod its the perfect rod for flipping, that was some great footage of you building that rod also, I'm a CNC machinist by trade been at it for 37 yrs, I'm going to try to start building them hopefully this winter & try to make some extra $ good luck tomorrow 👍

    Great video, looks like a really nice rod! Do you you make your own to save money, or is it just something you like to do? I’m thinking of building a rod but I I’m not sure of the benefits outside of the satisfaction of making something. If that rod were being sold on a big website, about how much do you think it would cost?

    • @MattStefanFishing
      @MattStefanFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You build rods for about half what a similar rod would sell for at retail! That rods would be about a $400 rod at retail prices that i built for about $180

    Cool video Matt ! Have you ever considered putting a light weight AFTCO roller tip on one of your musky rods... for heavy braid or mono it works beautiful. For all the reasons you will understand. Maybe you can convince AFTCO to make a micro roller tip for bass rods! AFTCO will make a ladda money if they do... all pro anglers would use them for sure. Maybe AFTCO or some other company all ready makes one... Bill

    • @williamfaragher3671
      @williamfaragher3671 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Matt ! This was not an AD for AFTCO... imagine tossing crankbaits, spinner baits, big swimbaits and glide baits without any friction on the tip when using braid... the feel and sensitivity is amazing ! Micro roller tips on bass rods, when using braid, will be the future. It will be awesome ! Bill

    Hey, thinking of making a MHX rod. Are you using the Elite Pro or Elite -X series blanks? The numbering/mag bass name, and weights seem like G Loomis rods, do you know if the MB are similar to the taper on Loomis MBR ?

    Great video and you have answered a question I have had for decades on whether or not a "Heavy" bass flipping stick can pull double duty as a "Muskie" rod. I have 2 13 fishing Omen Heavy 7'1" casting rods I bought during Boxing Day sales that I will use for my main flipping. They have a softer tip than my medium heavy 6'6" old school pure muskie rods but as you stated have enough backbone for big fish and or heavy cover. I wish I could get access up here in Ontario on where to look at building my own rods as I would love to make all my own technique specific rods and hopefully save some money as well. Thanks again!

    Camera man ? Might have broke your rod ,So sad , 😏 but man you are so good at building custom rods , I’m going to check out these blanks , I like how you can make the rear part of the split grip handle not so long , I hate rods that from the handle seat to the end of the butt not so long , like 14 inches max , is what I prefer , I heard Canadian geese flying in the background , lol , I like to hunt em , I will be looking up that blank too thanks bro
