EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Since making this video a new wrong warp was discovered in Castle Crush. That makes the information I go over in this video for Castle Crush completely obsolete, so don't watch that bit! Instead watch th-cam.com/video/Ss_a7lrn1gA/w-d-xo.html for the new warp.
You actually have no idea how much of a god you are for this guide dude. I know its been five damn years but I give you all the props i can. I was going insane trying to figure some of these out, phenomenal work dude. I'll forever be grateful for the love and time you put into this.
I'm late to the speedrunning party but have played this game allll the time growing up! I REALLY APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO! on that note, it seems like you don't NEED the double jump for the wrong warp in Topsail Trouble, but I can't figure out what the parameters are.
you kinda do though, because if youre not getting up to the beetles with the tdj then it would be faster to just take the warp unglitched and yeah, its a pain in the ass. youre probably throwing the invis too high/low, but its possible the ids arent getting set up properly, especially if youre freestyling it instead of doing it the established way. any minor movement of the camera this way or that way can change what objects are loaded in the memory
Hey Kanis, big fan of the whole dkc speed running community! Just starting out and I have a question, do you or anyone in the community have any idea what versions are on the Nintendo switch version of dkc2? Been watching speedrun after speedrun and I finally want to try it myself so I’m curious to see if I have to purchase the console or if I can practice on the switch
not sure if this helps a whole 10 months after you're commenting this, but the Nintendo switch contains the 1.1 version which is the ideal version. so all these strats are totally capable of being done on the switch version. 👍
I've been having trouble doing your Mainbrace Mayhem wrong warp. It seems to me like I'm doing it exactly as you say, but it only seems to work like 40% of the time where I think I don't mess up. I'm probably missing something but im looking really closely and can't find it. So i watched a few other videos of people doing it, and they do it differently than you. Instead of bringing the beetle down to the first beetle and doing the glitch below, they take that same top beetle, and go to the left to the platform where there are two beetles, and they do the glitch there, which they then bring down and spawn the warp barrel in a spot close to where you are instructing (they do it almost directly below the first visible barrel in the level). This seems to work every time that i do it without making an obvious mistake.. A lot of the times when I try to do it your way, but it fails, diddy throws absolutely nothing. I've been a bit puzzled as to how this is possible if he should be throwing whatever is in the 7th register. I could only really think of 2 ways this was possible - either nothing is ever loading into the 7th register because not enough stuff was loaded into memory to get to the 7th register.. or maybe i was throwing a "blank" or like an item placeholder for something I collected (like a banana, or a mouse I killed). So I spent a bit of time avoiding all the bananas and mice, and still was throwing blanks. So I think this other method works because its actually loading more things into memory and is definitely getting up to the 7th register, but I really don't know. Super confusing.
I did this first try, I didn’t actually expect this to work but it did, I only know how to do 3 wrong warps Mainbrace Mayhem Slime Climb Chain Link Chamber

Nice name :D
glad it helped
Late comment, but I used to do beetle clashing ALL THE TIME as a kid. I had no idea that carrying an invisible object had so many implications haha

the hot head hop method is working perfectly for me.
I did this first try, I didn’t actually expect this to work but it did, I only know how to do 3 wrong warps
Mainbrace Mayhem
Slime Climb
Chain Link Chamber
For some reason chain link chamber is a asshole and I can’t do the wrong warp anymore.
