I think that there is a mistake in the video. According to rule Mountain Scoring Constraints in Game Manual 2, robots may only score debris in the Mid Zone and High Zone Goals if they are completely on the mountain. At 6:27 the robot launches a ball from the floor into the high goal. This seems like it would be a violation of the aforementioned rule.
Well, it's certainly ambitious, I'll give it that. I would have thought they'd go with a simpler game for the new control system and programming language, but instead they went with the most ridiculously over-the-top game I've ever seen. At least we already have 2/3s of the scoring elements.
+alyminecraftx Yea I looked at this and was like what the heck is going on, though I got to say it's probably the most well balanced game so far. There is not one clear method that is better than everything else like in past years. The points are spread out enough to make just about everything worth while.
@icecats Robots are required to be Completely On the Mountain and the Robot’s drive train (e.g. wheels, tread) must only be in contact with the portions of the Mountain above the two inch tall buffer Area that is defined by white gaffers tape located at the bottom/entrance to the Mountain ramp. The main problem with this rule is the completely on part. As from our perspective I can't say for certain whether the bot had a wheel in the low zone or not. The rule is weirdly worded as it says you must be completely in but then goes on to say say you only need a portion of the drive train in the low goal.
I joined FTC with my high school last year and I had the endevour of learning how to set up the Samantha module properly and to "build" the autonomous program to knock down that stupid pole. It seems they are determined to make this a game for only the most well rounded and skilled teams! I am greatly looking forward to using this years new android platform, already i have most of everything set up. As of now I am currently sketching out some robot design concepts for my team!!! I look forward to this years exciting and new challenge, as well I cannot wait to see all the new ideas for robots and to see how well the other teams adjust to this new interface and game. No doubt the transition from RobotC to Java is daunting but hopefully my years of experience in both C and Java programming can give me the upper hand :)
+tmgbaseball I can definitely see some catastrophic failures to hang from the pull up bar, and then falling and rolling down the "mountain," potentially breaking the robot entirely
+tmgbaseball I feel as though there will be a lot of teams that find this game incredibly challenging, but there are still many teams that may do as well as they usually do.
This challenge has been a pain so far. 2nd tournament this saturday and we can barely hang in 45seconds if we hang at all. That's bad news considering this is some of our members' fourth year with FTC (my brother included)
This is... wow. I had to watch the video 3 times to actually understand what the premise of the challenge is. It's going to be interesting, to say the least.
this year is gonna be hard bc of all of the new capabilities the new system offers us. plus they are incorporating elements from previous years so we already know how to work with most of the challenge. i think its going to be very fun! And good luck to all!!! -Captain of team 7026, the J-Droids
Oh my gosh, Cascade Effect had nothing on this. Are they seriously expecting teams to be able to do all of this crazy stuff? I feel especially bad for rookie teams.
FIRST, what are you thinking? You shouldn't add a completely new programming system in the same year of the hardest game yet, that just simply isn't smart.

This is where it all started for me, 6th grade FTC. I will look back on my time in FIRST with fond memories!
Same here! It's where I first got my passion for mechanical design and learned SOLIDWORKS... I miss those days
I feel like this is just the last couple years mixed up with a new thing here and there.

+Bone-Tone Lord I agree, the expectations have certainly risen.
Great. New electrical system and programming. Now we have possibly the most difficult game.

Tyler Gehring 5 points for the parking zone is well balanced?
+Josh Davis Well, you were wrong. The cubes were what made or broke basically every robot. :)
This is going to be a fun year.
This looks hard :/
we may as well just make optimus prime.
+FallingTime HD you must be new here
swag
That seems really challenging, should make for interesting matches. A lot of points up for grabs in the autonomous period

Coming from FRC, I thought this year's game was going to be easy for our new FTC team to get started.. but I guess that's not how it works.

This challenge is so much harder than the previous years. I have a feeling that the competition is just gonna be a total fail
+KoO DigitalRegen even last year we saw many robots struggle just to move the goals
+tmgbaseball I can definitely see some catastrophic failures to hang from the pull up bar, and then falling and rolling down the "mountain," potentially breaking the robot entirely

+tmgbaseball The scores will most likely be incredibly lop-sided making it harder to score quality points.
+tmgbaseball its the year i am captain of my team
We want to wish all the teams across the world the best of luck with this amazing but very hard challenge from this season.
make the best out of it
+The Gentlemen FTC
Thx good luck to you to

Please find some screen capture program and do your video tutorial over again. It's hard to follow with the image swaying back and forth. Thanks.
that endgame looks strikingly like ultimate ascent
Definitely going to be a challenge. We wish you all the best of luck.

This was my very first year in FIRST back in 6th grade, the memories

cant wait for the first competition
Good luck to everyone!

This seems like an idea that sounded very good on paper, but I think that it is going to be way to hard to try to set this up to practice.
