As an admitted deathmatcher I have seen this for over a year. The true issue behind this isn’t necessarily the stall (which is still annoying), but the stall being coupled with AHKing
These stall have been around for much longer and rushers use them against DMers. For example there is an event item, antlers of some kind, that has a whole animation which involves snow being dropped on the ground. You will see many different stalls being used on high risk pvp worlds.

osrs is a very old game bro. if jagex manipulates it too much it can crumble the entire infrastructure and lead way to way worse bug abuse because its like a domino effect if you break something people can slide in and manipulate the game even further. Jagex tries but its alot to take on , the game was made in like what, 2004? this version is from 2007. Same thing with like Neopets for instance, its chaotic trying to restore something with super old, outdated coding.

@@Dontwannahearit It's easier to add new content to a game because it doesn't generally interact with legacy code or old areas. Combat mechanics being changed are also generally tweaks to pre-existing systems, with rare cases of changing core mechanics after MONTHS if not a YEAR of testing - even then I imagine there will be game breaking bugs when rolling out those changes. If you learn more about programming or old coding languages then you would understand better.

This is not just a problem for PvP but also used by scammers. Sir Pugger has mentioned it before in a video, where lurers/scammers to trade a person. Once accepting the trade your character gets pushed out of the safe zone. Think he reported it back then as well
its to the point where if its been reported by sirpugger you'd think they'd completely remove "inactive" stalls from the game completely and this problem would just be solved.
I actually got got with this trick a few years ago. They open a book or mini map when you goto trade them and it pushes you out of safe zone in wild where a ancient mage is waiting

People did this way back when the Gmaul first came out and you could glitch it to have 3 specs... Dance next to wilderness, walk in, use all 3 specs, and opponent would die before your character even showed up next to them.
I dont have access to the source code, but the ring of stone usage makes me think that theres some entangled web of spaghetti that makes this a non trivial fix. Like I'm assuming this is related to skipping the sarachnis stun mechanic (not directly). If I were to guess, theres probably a ton of instances where the game can be absolutely broken by the ring of stone (or egg just watch Rendi's defence pure) and finding all of them is taking a fat minute. Not stanning for Jamflex just might be why they're staying quiet hoping this just stays small.
These "animation stalls" are so common used in luring its crazy. It's not even down to the player half of the time, its bug abuse from the lurer. Jagex seriously needs to address this, different animation stalls have always been in the game. Props to framed for showing the problem

You lose control of the fight. It's taking advantage of an interaction that should have nothing to do with PVP in the first place.
This is an OG trick. Remember you could use the dance emote and it would stall and u could maul rush someone? Also I abused the crap out of this back in the day at the duel arena with obby rings. I prolly made about 600ish mill. Got a blue phat before they patched it. I think it was 07 or 08.
This isn't just a problem for PvP. Animation Stalls like this are used countless times in Lures. Literal Billions of Gold can get stolen from players because someone uses these to auto-move their victims to Dangerous Spots.
Only took someone with 500k subs to get this fixed, pretty sad since it's been reported as an issue for ages, but its been in the game since the start. Veng was one of the first ones.

You can see this particular thing when doing Cave horrors task. Seems like you're standing in one spot, but if you have true tile on, you are just moving as you normally would. Didn't know you can abuse it tough :D
Ive seen the animation stall rushing since Feb of last year, is not just the trailblazer animation but also with the Sled, with the easter egg and so many others I have never been able to replicate it, the gold farmers/ahkers in pvp keep it really underground, heard from someone they had their operation rushing dmers for ovee 10-15b a day.

This has likely been in the game since OSRS launched, considering you can do the exact same thing with the reindeer antlers. It's not as long of a stall, but it's still about 7 ticks, and I'm sure other items/emotes work even better.

Snowflake accounts use several stalls to help with tick eats etc. My comment was more focused on removing long stalls and this trailblazer one, not promoting other stalls, but when prompted, I will identify stalls as an undeniable feature of the game

We already have the hunter's crossbow if you want to be a nuisance, this is too much though. It shouldn't be bannable honestly. Jagex just needs to dedicate more to fixing the real issues within PVP.

I use to death match and I’d always watch those sneaky people rush people doing the still method, it got to the point where they got rag bots on me to stop them. Jagex really needs to fix it. They make billons everyday doing it. Even got me for a 130m before
Jagex need to do a hard fix on all animation stalls longer than 4 ticks, active or inactive. Veng and crossbows are fun, they're short. But long emotes are undeniably ruining the fun, so why are they in the game? When emote entered, if time greater than 4 ticks and action performed, exit emote. Fix the spaghetti code. Then make one and only one really obvious inactive animation stall that lasts several more ticks, for the cheese snowflake accounts.
Excellent case, hope Jamflex follows up. Worst case everyone that views this video is at least now aware of how it works even if you really can’t avoid that

its obviously a problem. being able to stall with an animation so much where your opponent cannot even see where they're getting attacked from and can die in a fraction of a second.
The guy in your original clip doing the casual 6 way manual cast firewave to 6-way melee swap with the animation stalls to boot is possibly the most blatant cheater I've ever seen. I'd sooner believe a guy with 16000 Leviathan KC and no other boss kills was legit than that guy. On the real though, this needs to be patched ASAP. I've seen people doing this for a long time doing lures from GE to the wildy by dropping low value items all the way to the wildy ditch and tb-fire way into dclaws from off the screen. You just see a random skull over the ground. It's funny when you see it from an outside perspective, but if it happened to me I'd be absolutely furious. Especially if I was trying find some actually fights for fun.
I know that fixing shit like this is really complex, but they could probably just make every animation an inactive stall, no idea why there are certain animations you can move under in the first place.
Why is Jagex so incompetent that they still allow their developers to make emotes that don't either break upon performing an action (Something that is already in the game) or lock you in place until finished (Something that is already in the game)? I'd go for the former on all player-controlled animations in the future since it's the least likely to have bad interactions with any other mechanics.
This has been in the game long before Trailblazers. They used to animationstall using spell book swap and something else on lunars. Same thing but just harder since the animation is less.
I want to say I tried to get back into runescape around 2 years ago and at that time I tried to pk and immediately lost my total cash stack due to this bug. I was actually in lummy chest in basement getting my cash out after dying to go to GE to buy back equipment and I got immediately speced out, I quit at that moment and only got back into it with an ironman years later. This bug has been around awhile and jagex is a disappointment for not fixing it.
It never ceases to amaze me how people will find another way to get a game breaking advantage in PvP instead of just learning to PK. I remember when PolyPore staves and Storm of Armadyl seemed game breaking pre-eoc. Original whip spec, anyone? Now we have bots AHKing, and specing you out from different game chunks whike getting multi combat buffs in single combat. 😂 The effort people put in to kill players but not put the effort in to PKing is amazing.
Is it also possible to do this to escape pkers in the wildy? I can imagine its really hard to catch up once they just disappear after freezes wear off.

That’s absolutely insane. I’m guessing it works when going through different rooms like when you originally got pked. With pking being a mix of reaction time and prediction it’s jarring to not be able to trust your eyes. Hope this gets patched
Of course it’s a problem for PVP. If you can’t actively counter, or even know where your opponent is, then they have an unfair advantage. Lurers are also using animation stalls. It needs to be stopped
I honestly think jagex should remove animation stalls altogether I think the only reason they are in the game to begin with is because of certain animations that might look weird when walking like the dragonfire shield block but then they also have stalls on stuff like the trident for no apparent reason Emotes should also just be cancellable like most other actions Stalling just makes the game look inconsistent and weird and removing it wouldnt really change anything mechanically other than making it look consistent
Animation stalls aren't a mechanic, they're an outcome of mechanics interacting. Your character's graphics are locked by something, but your character's position is not. Think of cutscenes or quest mechanics, your character's position is often elsewhere while your character's graphics are locked when the camera changes positions.
@@Steven-hq3go Doubtful. One pretty easy fix is to delete the animation until you can figure out a better way to implement it, for example. Or yknow, change it to behave like the emotes that break when you move.

Just a heads up this works with the Reindeer hat too. You morph and unmorph and then do prance. Can travel up to 14 tiles before the animation ends.

Some stalls are okay. This one is absolutely not okay. Duration and visibility makes a massive difference

I use to death match and I’d always watch those sneaky people rush people doing the still method, it got to the point where they got rag bots on me to stop them. Jagex really needs to fix it. They make billons everyday doing it. Even got me for a 130m before
Jagex need to do a hard fix on all animation stalls longer than 4 ticks, active or inactive. Veng and crossbows are fun, they're short. But long emotes are undeniably ruining the fun, so why are they in the game?
When emote entered, if time greater than 4 ticks and action performed, exit emote. Fix the spaghetti code.
Then make one and only one really obvious inactive animation stall that lasts several more ticks, for the cheese snowflake accounts.

its obviously a problem. being able to stall with an animation so much where your opponent cannot even see where they're getting attacked from and can die in a fraction of a second.

The guy in your original clip doing the casual 6 way manual cast firewave to 6-way melee swap with the animation stalls to boot is possibly the most blatant cheater I've ever seen. I'd sooner believe a guy with 16000 Leviathan KC and no other boss kills was legit than that guy.
On the real though, this needs to be patched ASAP. I've seen people doing this for a long time doing lures from GE to the wildy by dropping low value items all the way to the wildy ditch and tb-fire way into dclaws from off the screen. You just see a random skull over the ground. It's funny when you see it from an outside perspective, but if it happened to me I'd be absolutely furious. Especially if I was trying find some actually fights for fun.
I know that fixing shit like this is really complex, but they could probably just make every animation an inactive stall, no idea why there are certain animations you can move under in the first place.
Rendi made a video on animation stalls years ago. He was stacking the animations aswell.
Granted he used a different method.
Why is Jagex so incompetent that they still allow their developers to make emotes that don't either break upon performing an action (Something that is already in the game) or lock you in place until finished (Something that is already in the game)? I'd go for the former on all player-controlled animations in the future since it's the least likely to have bad interactions with any other mechanics.

This has been in the game long before Trailblazers. They used to animationstall using spell book swap and something else on lunars. Same thing but just harder since the animation is less.

I want to say I tried to get back into runescape around 2 years ago and at that time I tried to pk and immediately lost my total cash stack due to this bug. I was actually in lummy chest in basement getting my cash out after dying to go to GE to buy back equipment and I got immediately speced out, I quit at that moment and only got back into it with an ironman years later.
This bug has been around awhile and jagex is a disappointment for not fixing it.
It never ceases to amaze me how people will find another way to get a game breaking advantage in PvP instead of just learning to PK. I remember when PolyPore staves and Storm of Armadyl seemed game breaking pre-eoc. Original whip spec, anyone? Now we have bots AHKing, and specing you out from different game chunks whike getting multi combat buffs in single combat. 😂 The effort people put in to kill players but not put the effort in to PKing is amazing.

That’s absolutely insane. I’m guessing it works when going through different rooms like when you originally got pked. With pking being a mix of reaction time and prediction it’s jarring to not be able to trust your eyes. Hope this gets patched
Of course it’s a problem for PVP. If you can’t actively counter, or even know where your opponent is, then they have an unfair advantage.
Lurers are also using animation stalls. It needs to be stopped

I think the only reason they are in the game to begin with is because of certain animations that might look weird when walking like the dragonfire shield block but then they also have stalls on stuff like the trident for no apparent reason
Emotes should also just be cancellable like most other actions
Stalling just makes the game look inconsistent and weird and removing it wouldnt really change anything mechanically other than making it look consistent
Animation stalls aren't a mechanic, they're an outcome of mechanics interacting. Your character's graphics are locked by something, but your character's position is not. Think of cutscenes or quest mechanics, your character's position is often elsewhere while your character's graphics are locked when the camera changes positions.
This type of stuff has been around forever. I still remember mixing dyes in pre eoc to dclaw rush people with the stall.

@@Steven-hq3go Doubtful. One pretty easy fix is to delete the animation until you can figure out a better way to implement it, for example. Or yknow, change it to behave like the emotes that break when you move.
How difficult could be to just disable emotes in wilderness+ pvp worlds. Or either fix the stupid emote

the sad thing is... genuine players have lost hundreds of mills/bills to this glitch/scam/bug abuse, but will jagex return their money, nope... just a "sorry you died, we fixed it now"
