As an owner of an unrestored Hupfeld Gotha, very pleased to find this ! Have kept it for some years & now I think, before much more time passes, I must get it fixed .
Amazing! Was reading some E.M. Forster and a pianola was mentioned. Very thorough demonstration, I feel much more comfortable with understanding this unique technology :)
I just bought a house in Burbank CA with a pianola in it. I can’t wait to try it. It didn’t occur to me that it would be pedal operated, however, the rolls looked exactly the same and I didn’t see a cable coming out of it. I guess I’ll find out soon.
@@glennholt7837 sadly thats a bit far to go from Wales at the moment, I'll have to investigate my county of Pembrokeshire see if theres one in any of the pubs here, if not Ill be on a mission to persuade one to install one! 😂
Apparently there is at least one in Scotland, too. Took it for a real piano at first but then it was explained that it is a pianola (had no idea that they exist outside museums and still funcion) actually and the pianist is just pretending. th-cam.com/video/r-6gmqEAUg4/w-d-xo.html
Looks like a DUO-ART TRACKER BAR on this player, I would be inclined to keep that metrostyle leavers clear of the roll to stop the roll from being ripped to shreds, many thanks for the wonderful video. Jim from AUSTRALIA.
At home, my parents home, in Colombia, South America, we used to have a beautiful antique Pianola, the brand was "Cornish" New York, it was from around the 1940s, we used it as piano, and also Pianola and we used to have lots of rolls, with classics and popular music. I miss it very much. Is there any way that I could by one like that one you are showing? the video is great as well as the sound. Thank you and congratulations, that is neat!! May I contact you with phone number or email address?
Hi glen, just wondering do all pianolas play the same way? I’m an aged care worker and we have one in our nursing home. I’d love to get it up and running for the residents.
I smashed ours! LLL when I was little, I remember mom and dad cursing that piano because they were forever sliding it out so the kids could get their toys out from underneath it. It was damaging the hardwood floor, and they were getting fed up, so when they went to the city , and I was only about 12 years old living on the farm, I grabbed the sledge hammer from the shed and I came in and I smashed it to pieces and hauled it all outside and laid it on the front lawn. The only thing I couldn't get out was the big sounding board. It was too heavy for me. I was so excited and couldn't wait until mom and dad came home. I thought I did them a big favor. The rest of it went blank. I don't remember anything after that! I MEANT well. 😢
Can you explain anything about the tempo pointer? [The one which protrudes over the music roll]. I'm guessing that some rolls may be marked with a tempo score to be followed, perhaps?
Thanks for this video! Very well explained. Margaret you did a great job on camera.

This is one of the most delightful videos I've ever seen
I was a bit nervous about playing my new pianola (new to the home, not to the world!) but now I feel more confident. Thanks for the demonstration!

Thank you so much for playing.-

Went on a player piano learning trip here on TH-cam and came across this video. Great stuff! Thanks for uploading!
Hi Sebastian I would give it a try and let me know - thanks for watching the video Glenn
Wow, what a treat, Id love someone to open a traditional pub locally with a pianola in it instead of gambling machines & piped music.
The pianola is in a pub in London

I have a question. My Pianola did not come with a scroll roller at the bottom. Am I able to use an old piece and just take the paper of it?
Love this
Que maravilha!!!!
amazing!!!

Bye Bye Blackbird ♪
what piano roll is that?
what song is the piano playing
wow, que hermoso
Whats the name of the roll
Can i put a motor on my pianola to play it ?
NOT as much fun! Leave it foot pedal operated please! Adding a suction box kit makes it boring and obnoxious sounding.
Fun video but I'm still waiting for a call over from Steve
Really enjoyed that I want one but the wife says no 😖
Just buy it
Instructions unclear, killed a man named Steve
