In Sickness and in Health | Part 1

- This week really threw some curveballs. It started off with me still feeling under the weather, which put a pause on my marathon training and just added to the stress.
Back at work, we lost another tender process to undercutting competitors. It’s frustrating to think about the issues clients will inevitably face down the line, but what can you do…
Out in East Horsley, despite the terrible weather, the team did an amazing job loading topsoil to the beds and wrapping up the deck framing. And with his holiday around the corner, Matt’s keeping everyone’s spirits up.
On Tuesday, a rouge chaffinch gave us a good laugh by battling his reflection in our office windows. The laughter turned to cleanup duty when I found his “gifts” all over my new car.
I catch up with Mark about his four Chelsea builds this year and about potentially getting us there to document the chaos.
With cash flow concerns weighing on me, it was a relief to have Harry back from his sick leave, updating us on a project completion in Alfold.
By Friday, East Horsley looked incredible as we welcomed all the plants that will be going in. I also handed Andy the keys to a new work van!
We wrapped up the week by lining up all the new vehicles at the old yard, all clean and shiny - a nice end to a week shadowed by illness and stress.
Despite the ups and downs, it's rewarding to see the progress in our vlog, we’re really pushing to improve everything, so really appreciate any support. Thanks for tuning in, and see you next week!

Best episode yet and you're coming on leaps and bounds as the presenter! I'm a very proud father right now and well done for fighting through that weather and the man flu too.........
Thanks Dad, means a lot!x
Love it!! Also looking forward to the Chaffinch update :)
Stumbled across your channel in my video feed. So me and the missus just watched 4 videos. Got drawn in by the business side and love seeing businesses grow etc. I watch Asheville and welderfabber etc and your content slide in haha. Keep the great content up. And enjoy the 1000 subscriber grind 😅
Thank you! Encouraging to hear the algorithm is pushing us so early on, hopefully we can keep you watching, they’re only going to get better!
Fantastic you’ve been able to bring the production in house so quickly 👏🏻
Thank you, yes having the media team in house and aware of and surrounded by our growth plans and existing projects has been game changing. We’ve had a recent reshuffle in responsibilities etc which should translate as another jump in production quality so watch this space! They’re key members of the team so employing them was definitely the right move.
@@OllyGregson and it means you don’t end up in a Grand Designs situation where schedules are held up due to not having a camera crew to ‘catch the moment’ - not that you would wait but it’s all about obtaining that broad spectrum of content.
Came across your channel about 2 weeks ago watched all your videos and what a fantastic job you and your team do. You are a massive inspiration and well done on your new fleet. Very nice. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, really appreciate that and comments/messages like these are a big inspiration to keep going!
Amazing team working in all weathers!! Already looking forward to next weeks video!
Thank you Fran, it’ll be a good one!
Best one yet !!!
Thank you!
Love them always 💪🏼
Awesome 🙌
Should make the Clio a 24 plate to fit on 😂
too much attention is put on vehicles, though having a reliable vehicle is crucial in day to day operation but this is not the most important at all. Cut cost, improve efficiency and put more attention to acquiring new customers and everything will just follow. Though this is great to watch but as a business owner myself I made this mistake early in my career. Good luck!
Thanks Melvin, replacing 5 of our vehicles with new ones actually reduces our running costs and helps to keep our cash flow consistent. We also need these vehicles to be Ulez compliant for work in London, acquiring new customers certainly isn’t our priority at the moment, it’s ensuring we can keep up with the enquiries.
Charlotte: Why is Olly always so ill?
Any luck trying to replace Jake?
Yes! We’re looking forward to a new maintenance manager starting shortly and in the time being have had all of our maintenance work managed well by the younger members in the team who have really stepped up. Still lots of recruiting to do for maintenance staff of all levels and skilled landscapers - spread the word!
