Hey, my name is Olly and this channel shows the real day to day and behind the scenes of directing my young businesses as we continue to grow.
I believe there is a huge gap in the space for the documenting the journey's of what it takes to build genuine business's and whilst it may be less glamorous, I'm going to fill some of that gap.
The only thing I can promise is complete transparency and authenticity in what I share, thank you.

Another busy week behind the scenes at Hardwood Landscapes! Both our maintenance and landscaping teams are pushing on as we approach Christmas. We are still thin on the ground with staff off on annual leave but making great progress! I get even closer to being able to get on the road in our new grab truck - but will I pass my theory? Thanks for watching, and see you next week! Please donate to ...
Our New Grab Truck is on The Way! A Week in the Life of a Young Business Owner | Episode 45

The week kicks off with me grinding through the weekend to finalise a quote for a Chelsea build. Not ideal, but that’s just part of running a business sometimes! On a brighter note, my new grab lorry number plate arrived - exciting stuff. By Monday, I’m back on the road to pitch the quote. Over at Harry’s site, the team’s cleaning up after some storm damage, we lost a fence and gazebo, but luck...

This week kicks off with me fresh off holiday and heading straight to site to check in on progress. The guys are deep into the rip-out, and I walk you through the plans of what we’re doing here. Over in Shalford, the glass pergola is nearly done, the team’s wrapping up and pulling off as we wait for replacement glass, despite set backs it’s all looking fantastic. Tuesday’s an office day, brains...

This week kicked off with me relaxing in Mexico, heading out on a fishing trip with my brother, brother-in-law, and nephew. Such a great day on the water, made even better when we took our catch to a local restaurant, and they cooked it up for lunch, absolutely unreal. Back on-sites, Andy’s been tackling the glass doors on the tricky pergola job. Progress has been slow, but it’s coming together...
CAN I RETIRE AT 28? A Week in the Life of a Young Business Owner | Episode 42

This week was another mix of wins and challenges. It kicked off with another break down. Meanwhile, in Farnham the olive tree lighting is going in, which looks amazing. In Shalford, the pergola build is underway. But there are many frustrations including a real lack of support from the supplier. I made it to Mexico but kept in touch, balancing work with some much needed family time. Winter is c...

This week, we're diving into two new projects and rounding out some big milestones. Harry kicks things off with a local sandstone patio job, and Matt is breaking ground for a rather sleek glass pergola in Shalford. Both are on tight labour allocations, so need to make sure time is well spent and we stay on track. Over at our Reading project, all the hard landscaping is wrapped up, now just wait...

The secrets out! The week starts showing what my weekends mostly look like! Into the week and there is some good news - I get an email from the APL confirming I've been accepted as a committee member. This week kicks off with a new job whilst the rest of team are making great progress on our existing projects. What a year it has been. Thank you for the videos! I find them very inspiring and incredibly relatable on a lot of fronts. What you have achieved is utterly incredible. I have just dusted off my Gopro ready for 2025. Merry Christmas !

Another great video Greg and it's amazing what you and your team have achieved within the last 12 months. My mentor always taught me that your network is your net worth so some of the people you are getting to know will really help your business. Looking forward to seeing the next 12 months of growth

Very productive week 💫👊 What a year it's been!!... hope the team all have a wonderful Christmas break, and here's to a fabulous, prosperous 2025.

Hi Olly & Hardwood Team Nice one Have a good Christmas Thanks again
A good last watch before Christmas.......well done to you and team over the year and wishing you a successful and prosperous New Year.........
Merry Christmas to you all, hope all the team has a well deserved rest!
Can’t wait to see the grab truck and branding!
Good luck with the hgv test!! 🤞
Congratulations on passing the hgv theory and good luck for the practical!
And just like that… almost a whole year has gone! It’s incredible what you have managed to achieve in a year and it has been incredible watching along. The development of you, the companies and your team has been inspiring to watch. Looking forward to the last episodes of the year 🙌🏼
Proper good team you've got there, I've taken on staff out of desperation before and it's just a costly mistake to make. Subcontractors seems to be the safest way to go
Well done sir. It was a very hard work to get Chelsea. The partnership with CALM is so necessary. That farmland is really water logged - just right for getting the spaniels in a right mess! Keep going and enjoy the Christmas break.
Congrats on Chelsea 🌟 Congrats to Mrs G 👑🌟 And a wonderful collab with Grab and CALM 💫👊
It’s such a shame that deponti are so bad with regards to delivery as their product quality looks good. Could you tell me who you switch to as we are in the market for a supplier 👍 Loving the video guys great work as always 🎉
Wow what a week you’ve had, congrats on the Chelsea flower show, Special congrats for Mrs Gregson 🥂
Great news on Chelsea build......truck suspense building......cashflow on point........new projects coming on line.......what's not to like!!!
@@paulgregson1987 Absolutely, must mean it’s time to push harder!
Love, love , love these videos each week! Hard work and dedication of you all leading to fabulous results! Well done on Chelsea and great that you have a charity collaboration with grab! Such a lovely thing to do! 😍
you know, i'm big fan of Ashville lousy, i'm planning to make one like these, although, i'm in tech, as in i'm a developer creating apps and all do not focus on those people telling you its a copy of ashville weekly, just keep moving man, wish you get successful in what you doing ...
@@jameswestbrook5709 great to hear, my advice would be to just get started, first try is the hardest and once you’ve done that it gets easier. Thank you, I’ve got no problem saying who my influences are, I wasn’t the first to do a vlog and won’t be the last 💪🏼
Hi Olly & Team Nice one Thanks again
What a good thing to do having the collaboration with a charity and helping raise awareness and money! Amazing news about the Chelsea build!
@@franburton930 thank you!
A huge congratulations for Chelsea 2025! That's amazing. I also really love the collab with Grab and CALM, what a wonderful thing to do. It's so risky to cut the bottom line of a business by pledging to give to a charity, let alone a brand new business - it's incredible! 👏
👊👍
Another great video! Sam taking Matt's boots... Absolutely hilarious 😂
Lovely gazebo
Hardwood lifestyle and teamwork at it's finest. From what the cameras capture, your team is rocking and rolling. Olly, kudos to you for trusting and empowering your team to execute with confidence when your out of the Hardwood HQ office and on Holiday's. Some companies never get past the point moving beyond working in their business to building it. Beautifully done!
Naji, thank you again for your comment and support, it is really appreciated!
Hi Olly, I have a question for your last episode of the year... I started my own garden maintenance business a few months ago after having worked for someone else. The employment situation wasn't the best and I really don't feel I got a full view of training so wondered what courses/certifications you think anyone working on the maintenance side should look into. Thank you for sharing your year in Hardwood, it's hugely inspirational to me and I'm sure plenty of others feel the same.
@@scott.illustrates4119 Thank you Scott, are you RHS qualified?
@ I’m putting myself onto the level 2 course as previous employer just did all training on the job.
Hi Olly & Team Nice one plenty going on Thanks again
Great week, lovely to see all the different sites, the skill mix, and comraderie amongst the team..... and very much looking forward to the daffodils and the passing of this dreary weather we're currently having!!
Hi Olly I was looking to use deponti as a supplier for aluminium buildings. Would you recommend them after everything? Just wondering if the problems you had was because of the nature of the job or if the product/ service was just rubbish.
Hi Shane, whilst I don’t want to tell people who to or who not to use, we certainly will never use them again for a combination of both product and service.
@ thank you Olly I’ll keep looking for a supplier. It’s a mine field
👏🏼👏🏼
Another great vlog ......was going to say looking forward to seeing the daffodils pop up on a verge that I travel past daily but then saw Jess has already commented! Lots of great progress and good to see more of the team enjoying each others company.....you've got a good crew there!
Just love that your teams all seem so happy in their work! So refreshing! 😍
So proud you kept your work phone off! Can’t wait to see the daffodils next year! 🌞
Good luck with the theory test 🤞 looking forward to the colour reveal!!
