Cheers Anthony. I am recovering well thank you. It's lovely to get out isn't it. Fish , no fish, small fish, the wrong fish! , is all irrelevant when your out having fun 😁.
@ glad to hear that mate. You’re not wrong there mind. I seem to be the first one no fish… haha but it’s about clearing in the mind and blown them cobwebs away.
Well done on getting out again buddy, no wonder you were feeling rough with what was approaching for you, the dreaded manflu!! Thanks for sharing, i genuinely love watching and listening to your presentations! Hope youre feeling well now Darren... Looking forward meeting up somewhere in the new year!
Cheers Dave. I managed another 2 vids before it took hold 😅. It's a kind of illness progression diary 🤣. We shall meet up some point in this year when I pop down my chum. All the best 👍
Hi Darren, I’ve just bought a Akios Airlite after seeing them in your videos and must say that there a fantastic light rod. Everything you say about them is right, perfect for estuary’s as well as clean beaches and maybe a bit of mixed ground as long as you don’t need heavy leads. Like you I tried mine with a Spinfisher 5500, but coupled with a 6500 sized multiplier it feels even better. Anyway keep up the good work and Tight Lines.
you have a smashing channel mate as u says might not be huge loads of cod but ive learned allot from this page in the last year and my estuary fishing is coming on great cant wait for the summer now keep at it mate
I think you have confused two different videos. You commented on my Scotswood video fishing newcastle (B&Q) side of the Blaydon bridge A1. This comment is on my Blaydon video, next to the Scotswood bridge which carries the A695.
Those little codling are very tasty. I used to catch (1980's) several in an hour session right next to North Shields Fish Quay. Literally not casting, just dropping the bait straight down and up one turn from the bottom. Size 10 coarse fishing hooks with small slivers of squid bait or white bait cat treat. Don't know if they are still sold. A couple of those little codling, fried in butter with some potato fritters, make a nice lunch.
Hi Gus, thank you for watching. Appreciate it very much. Ah..the 80,s in the Tyne was a magical time my friend. Many a good fish was caught. I used to fish North Shields Quay with Herring from the fish skips lol, could not afford bait. All the best 👍
It's plagued up that spot mate with small whity and codling. Eels is everywhere they like rats of the River. Good watch definitely will watch you more💪🏻💪🏻
aye i remember fishing the rubber compeny in northshields never had anything big off there but had a few bag fulls talking about northshields did you ever fish off lloyds hayling station after the top was taken off or did you have more sense lol colefish pollock and macky in the summer codling in the winter i even went night fishing off there .i know mad 1983 i fell off there in 1989 i hung on and climbed back up and never went back on hance im still here haha
Hi Richard. I did indeed fish Lyodds jetty. My pb Coalfish to this day was caught there in daylight. Mackerel strip. Came in at a whopping 5lb 3oz! Had to lift it with an old Milbro glass fibre rod!
@@northeastangling wow thats a big colefish when i started going on there i was 17 in the june borrowed my m8s gear could only fish down the side load of colefish of couse i was hooked at that point and could not wait to try lloyds in the winter but it had to be dry i caught a 2.8lbs codling and a 3lb colefsh but something down in the depths under lloyds something big grabbed my line we could not pull it up it smashed my m8s spinning reel so we had to handball it up it was like a diver yanking the line then the line snapped 25lb test i was gutted i reckon it was a big conger it was going nuts .i know it soungs like a fishermans tale but im telling you its the truth
@richardsales6996 when that pipe was working there were some big fish mate. The Tyne was the same, when it was dirtier the cod fishing was fantastic! Thanks for sharing your memories 😊
Great video today happy new year to you is well . Hope you had amazing Christmas. Just a quick question do you no when spring tides start because I was hoping to fish low tide next weekend at cresswell
Google , Tide Times Cresswell. Then chose your day based on the tides your after. To be honest. I prefer a small to medium tide for flatfish and the larger springs combined with a rolling sea for Cod and Bass. All the best 👍
Hello mate right on my doorstep that mark fished it for a lot of years , new tackle for Xmas penn tidal xt long cast cracking reel a great spot on the river is the copthone hotel on the qeuyside
@northeastangling yeah lot gash out there tackle out there. Over Our decades tried every gadget practically that come out. Finally realised that the well made Simple practical properly made components is best. My rig component box and rigs in wallet revolve around simplicity, minimalist, and quality, the tried and tested items that are all years old now. In our fishing lifetime, we have been lucky to see it all from the 1970s onwards all the ground breaking new components have come out, fastlinks, imps, etc to name a few. Don't think there's anything now where you can improve anything in way of new components ideas wise, simplicity is the name of game, as it's all been done already and before. Only improvement s are in quality, availability and at a reasonable price like Ben Arnold's done, as you also know and use yourself, done a good job there by one the top match anglers in UK. So enough my babbling, carry on the good work your doing, we cannot at our age all be jumping up and down cliffs and around rock ends at our age, though l do but its a accident waiting to happen sometimes l think brother.....😎🎣🐟🏆💪🏽👍🏾
Nice one, I fish there quite alot. I'm partly disabled so it's ideal is there any chance you could put the postcodes of the other easy access marks you fish, many thanks ALAN
My missus walked by you last week when you were fishing Hebburn (next vid?), i was fishing shields pier at the time and she text saying “I think that fella you watch on TH-cam is fishing down the river”, told her to say hello, but she didn’t want to interfere with your vid. All the best for the new year mate

Nice relaxing session there again Darren. Plenty of fish to keep you entertained. Again, so handy to be able to fish from back of car.
Cheers Phil. Also a great mark for the kids too . Although the road that runs alongside can be a bit silly with boy racers .
First of all, hope you’re well. Great chilled out video after a long day. Thanks very much for sharing mate tight lines 🎣

Scotswood bridge on the River Tyne. The bridge upriver, with the superstructure, is Scotswood bridge,

Like the sound of your anti crab rig would love some advice on tieing it if possible mate
I will get a short video together for it soon Stuart. Thank you for watching 👍
Hope you’re feeling better. Had some decent flounders and whiting on the 23rd.

@ nice to meet you today I was the lad that came for the lug worm
@mickydixon4083 great to meet you micky , good luck tomorrow 👍
@ thanks a lot 👍👍
Didn't you notice the jetty by the marina? A much better spot especially at low tide when you can cast into deep water near the middle of the river.
Hi Steve. Yeah, the jetty. Used to be a locked gate if memory serves?
ive never fished that far up . wots it like in the summer flatty's or crabs every cast
Hi Simon, if you look back through my videos, there are summer sessions at this venue 😀
Good watch. Do you ever pick up the odd sea troot or slob their tight lines 🏴🏴
Hi Cj. It's not unheard of from this location. I have had some lovely Smelt though . Tight lines ! 👍
What rig clip you been getting problems with, just out curiosity, thought you used fastlinks to a rig swivel.
Some Temu gemini clip copies. Must have a sharp edge somewhere. They were cutting the braid leader at the knot.

Hi Tony. Take my hat off to you fishing in that wind. It was a bit naughty, even in the River.
Well, I hope you got something, bud 🎣🎣

There are some great little books along the Tyne. Good luck with the carping my chum 👍
Darren what bridge were you fishing beside ?
Hi Thomas, that is Blaydon Bridge 👍
streaming can give a lone fisher person a sense of security in case of emergency.
Hi Anthony, indeed. Although the only emergency of that day was me getting home to tuck into the Christmas hamper! 🤣🤣
