Weller, solid as usual..and he knows a great song when hears one! I prefer the original, but that is taking absolutely nothing away from this version. Just remember that this song was a B-Side!!
I wanna get high, but I really can't take the pain 'Cos it would blow away my soul like a hurricane I'm like a one man band, clapping in the pouring rain If I know where I'm going, I don't know from where I came Now you gonna be, in summertime And are you gonna see, the heavens shine; like lightning in the sky? As soon as they come, The feelings they go, All alone, on a one way road As soon as they come, The feelings they go, All alone, on a one way road. On a one way road I wanna get high, but I really can't take the pain 'Cos it would blow away my soul like a hurricane I'm like a one man band, clapping in the pouring rain If I know where I'm going, I don't know from where I came Now you gonna be, in summertime And are you gonna see, the heavens shine; like lightning in the sky? As soon as they come, The feelings they go, All alone, on a one way road As soon as they come, The feelings they go, All alone, on a one way road. Oh, on a one way road.
Brilliant weller. He pulls off so many great covers and like a few others said the original isn't that lively but this is a really bluesy cover. Where is the actual gig because the quality of this video is brilliant. Would love a copy.
I do like this song, it's one of Noel's many slow-burners, but it's such a random song for Weller to cover. Really not sure it suits his voice either. Anyway, I loved seeing Steve White singing along at the beginning.
I do prefer this version to noels and I always thought that noel could of done a lot more with the original version as it had potential to be a great oasis song but ended up being quite a weak effort in the end.
I'm not an Oasis/ Noel fan, don't relate to the audience or the yob vibe but I'm a geriatric so that's not important. Didn't rate the original recording, flat boring and dull but clearly a good, albeit generic, song. This however takes it up a level, excellent arrangement and performance. I laugh at how Noel gets away with it but good luck to him anyway😂
Paul Weller sings like a true master .

Took noel's song to another level, nice chap that paul
What a songwriter Noel Gallagher is! 👌
I don't think I have ever heard a live performance sound this good.
Well, also very tight, this combo...
Couldn't agree more
this is a very good cover by weller suits his voice so well

I think this is fabulous
Demais ❤❤❤❤❤
He's been class since the 60s in Jam..can't see anyone todsy lasting 50 years
The Jam in the 60s?
@@asyouwere9439 absolutely..67
67? How is it possible? He was only 9, being born in 1958. It ought to be late 70's.
@@jackienuttall7549 Absolutely not. Their debut single was in 77
It Will Blow my SOUL !!!!! , Thats what Mr Weller has SOUL, Voice GENIUS !!
this is whats all about , making Greatness BETTER
Incredible version, Love it
Couldn't agree more
man, wish he was still playin with him..
Class act
Wow, blows away Noel’s version. This has life
As an Oasis fan, I can say that Noel's version makes you want to cut your wrist. This version cheers you up!!! Amazing!
Only Paul hears the possibility of an arrangement with a Woodwind and a Country/ Western Piano
Love Weller but I completely disagree with the comments that day this is better than the Oasis version.

Much prefer this to the original. Wellers voice is much richer and more upbeat and the song benefits from it.
Chorus is much weaker from Weller
I prefer it too. And the brass is a bonus
Nah, original is Better.
Me too ❤

I love Noel and all but this version is miles better.

Weller had a bad coke problem and I reckon that's why he related to this song. Like how hes put his own stamp on it but not as good as the original.
fucking love this version!!!!!!!!!
Pisses over Oasis version, this is pure southern soul, amazing.
It's good but i prefer the original.
i think you are being a wee bit harsh on noel he wrote it man......
Is that Alan White ex oasis on drums????
That's actually Alan's brother, Steve White :)
Steve White +1 awesome drummer!
Lead Balloon, anyone?
That's a bit unfair Laura.they both have fabulous talent don't compare them
biblical
Leave the singing and song writing to noel
I do prefer this version to noels and I always thought that noel could of done a lot more with the original version as it had potential to be a great oasis song but ended up being quite a weak effort in the end.
No he can just make genius b sides and b sides are b sides for a reason. Quick and easy done
same goes for just getting older. could of been a classic comeback single for the 4th album, but turned out pretty weak
paul weller aint that good as noel simple
andyheed123 a lot of people disagree
@@iMertin haha ridiculous
A song written by a great songwriter but performed by a f...... genius here.
Love PW but this doesn't come close to the Oasis version.

Holy crap, that intro is a bit unnecessary
Vincecouk it feels that way, yeah. But Jack Dee's show Lead Balloon uses the intro brilliantly. That might change your mind.
Not a bad cover, but I prefer the original.
learn to spell young man, learn to spell!
While you're at it, get a bit of fashion sense with a dash of class thrown in ;)
Absolute awful cover, and I love Weller. But I'm not going to put an "I don't like it" rate. He tried.
