    Part three: th-cam.com/video/W6wekHP6DlI/w-d-xo.html
    Hi folks, welcome to part two. I'm blending some more media elements for the introductions and I hope you enjoy my take on an AAR (After Action Report). In this episode, we take Greece up to the next level. I'd also love to hear about what nations and concepts you'd love to see next. Or even how you'd like to get involved in the roleplay with this series.

    Hey Surreal long time lurker here. I first found your channel almost a decade ago via your old lotr and rome 2 campaigns, your strategic ability, your passion for history and your sense of humor kept me around and your content has been a bastion for my sanity when life has been difficult and nigh unbearable. Your growth over the years has been inspiring and I have greatly enjoyed the shift to more narrative and RP focused content over the past few years( the bg3 playthrough and your first couple ck3 series were particular highlights) it clearly takes a great amount of effort but clearly I and many others think it's worth it, hope the pt and life continues to go well for you!

    A FREE EMPIRE FOR THE FREE PEOPLES
    The modern history of our fledgling state fills everyone who believes in the values and ancient prowess of Greece with pride unparalleled in the annals of our time.
    It is in this spirit of patriotic devotion to country that I hope to speak neutrally, and recommend some course for the future of our state in this pamphlet, issued for the information and education of our storied state.
    The moves towards some kind of multicultural state are not just morally-commendable, but essential to ensure the survival of our state in the multiethnic Balkans, and should continue. Because of this, moves towards republicanism should be put on hold. A monarch represents the rule of not one nationality, but of God above all people, and offers greater prospect of harmony than the ill-judgement of the mob. There may come a time when we can be trusted to live in harmony with one another, but until then it is wise to support our monarchy as a neutral repository of our state’s values. Similarly, it is interesting to see amongst our English friends the stirring of a leader who promises the workers may be conservative, if given the right inducements. We must give the wormers reason to trust us, and use them as a bulwark of the state we are trying to create against the pernicious middle that would lead them against one another. Social reform will make our people’s minds, bodies and souls healthier, whether they known it or not, and should continue despite its expense. The clattering of coins now will aid us when muskets chatter and big guns bellow across Europe and Greece is kept united, safe and free.
    It is likely we will attempt to continue our implacable march into the Ottoman lands to our north while securing the Aegean Sea and Cyprus. The former case shall surely bring us into close contact with Austria, our loyal masters. It may be prudent to consider cultivating alternative partners to provide insurance against a potential change of direction in Vienna. Italy, Northern Germany, France, Russia and the UK all provide their own strengths and weaknesses as partners, but each would help to ensure that as we emerge to take our place in the sun, Austria doesn’t throw us back into the shade.
    A final word may be said about potential opportunities for colonial expansion. The far east and Africa both offer tantalising opportunities for a state such as ours, but we must be careful not to expand beyond our navy’s ability to protect far flung places. Our involvement in Egypt, which currently seems to go well, gives us the opportunity to replicate this model in Iraq, the Levant, and potentially areas of Iran. This would keep the core of our state’s possessions tight and give the option of both naval and land defence. If our navy grows in sufficient strength, East Africa may be another desirable destination for our efforts.
    We face a juncture in the face of the future, but Greece will tread the path of glory. Not since the days of Pericles have such wise and mighty leaders pointed the way, leaders fit for the highest reaches of Mount Olympus. Too much is said about reclaiming past glories, about recreating Byzantium. Such views are myopia incarnate. Greece shall not go backwards, but proudly go forth into the new age of industry with vigour and purpose. We will show Europe how each state can build itself and its people the mightiest of palaces through the tenacity of the human spirit. We shall not rebuild Rome, we shall build something far greater, a new Byzantium for the next age. Let us go forth proudly, citizens of Greece of all peoples and creeds, and face our future as Argonauts on the ship of state, together

      Wow! Incredibly well written! Do you have a character name that I could use for this?

    • @starguy321
      @starguy321 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@SurrealBeliefs Thank you! I guess this is issued in the vein of ‘anonymous pamphleteer’, so they could write under a pseudonym like ‘Cleitus’, because Cleitus the Black once saved Alexander the Great (and let’s face it, writing and publishing a pamphlet means you have a high opinion of your own views’ importance). The actual author could just be some random journalist from Athens or Thessaly or something lmao

    • @starguy321
      @starguy321 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kenneth that would be good, but most of the pamphlet supports the existing regime. The big political debates in this Greece have focused on the monarchy, and so supporting it put the pamphleteer on the side of the status quo. It’s likely a member of the Greek liberal intelligentsia, who’s providing a sort of Greek-branded liberalism to counter republican or demotic forms of nationalism (liberalism, after all, doesn’t necessarily need to be democratic)

Full domination of the area where the Suez Canal would be is just an intelligent move. Plus it kind of fits the whole "Gateway to the East" that the Byzantines used to be.

      @@SurrealBeliefs Phew. Was getting worried. Quickly glossed through your video and saw a pretty white and blue flag at the very end. Thought to myself "Noooo, what are you doing!" Glad to see you avoided that fate, and just in the nick of time too! You could probably incorporate this into the roleplay. That maybe the King's popularity drastically improved as a result of the very successful "Megali Idea" policy under his reign. Maybe Byzantium shall become a Republic some other day.

    • @PuzzlingGoal
      @PuzzlingGoal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@realDarkPeterson I mean, during his reign the King has reclaimed the greater homelands of the ethnic Greek people, beat the living snot out of the Ottomans, kicked off a relatively massive colonial campaign, passed reforms that were only beneficial for the common folk, and then proceeded to beat the living snot out of the aristocrats and the elite over said reforms. Even with the Greek people's inherent disdain for monarchies there is no way the common man would feel particularly galvanised to kick him out. Plus, this is supposed to be an RP, and the King is a Romantic and a traditionalist. If any monarch is going to just step down and abolish monarchy on his own it would make much more sense for him to be his Nihilist, entrepreneur son.

    Your Majesty, Otto von Wittelsbach.
    Chaírete! As an "Egyptiote", our people faced much discrimination under the rule of the Turks and the Egyptians ever since the fall of Egypt from Roman hands. As such, I must greatly express personal gratitude for the liberation of Alexandria and much of our community from Egyptian persecutions. In addition, the securing of Egypt into the greater domain of Greece is a great step in liberating our peoples and regaining our glory.
    While I understand the complexities of our modern time, and the need for a wide system of accommodations of other cultures and religions, outshine our romanisation of heroes of the past, the feats of many such as Alexander are still a marvel to us, and the reason for the existence of the wider Greek diaspora such as myself. Perhaps, to better affirm your new Greek titles and assimilation, a harkening to this past in a romantic light through his conquests alongside the restoration of our greatest zenith - the Roman Empire - could cement this position of you and your family within the Greek population.
    Some form of hybridisation of our Hellenic and Roman pasts may be a prestigious achievement, and a guiding light to Greece's Greco-Roman future to the West, East, North and South.
    Efcharistó.

    I feel like you should keep the monarchy, because, while classical Athens was a democracy, there were states that were monarchies as well, albeit with a high level of "democracy" like Sparta, and while medieval Byzantium was the continuation of Rome, i feel like it was more autocratic than classical Rome, though I'm pretty sure they kept the eastern senate, so a constitutional monarchy. As a member of the intelligentsia myself I strongly advise you to keep the monarchy, even though it may be wiser to abolish it

  • @jamesmcpherson8599
    @jamesmcpherson8599 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Moving away from Monarchism to a Presidental Republic when the Monarchy Reestablished the Empire makes no sense unless you had a monarch which supports the move to democracy. Either Reform before you make the empire or keep the Monarchy in place.
    I personally wanna see Greece become the Democratic Empire it was meant to be, maybe something akin to Plato's Republic.

    'Greetings my noble king, my name is Alexios, I am from a family of traditional intellectuals of the land owners and a devout member of the church. While I do not approve of your oppression of my groups, I also did not approve of those who I support trying to overthrow you, and what is done, is now done. After all, it is a waste for greeks to fight each other while we are at the cusp of greatness.
    As for what to do, I find we are in a unique opportunity. We have some puppets and the start of an empire. We have Constantinople. Let us begin a path to power. I will outline it in these steps.
    1. Refound the Bysantine Empire. We are so close. We should finish it! Also now we are at it, why not turn the ottoman empire into a puppet? I would be fitting, wouldn't it? After generations of ruling us, the Ottoman Empire is now ruled by us?
    2. Establish control over the eastern Mediterranean. This can be done through conquest or puppets. If possible, add the territories of Ethiopia.
    3. Establish colonies. I would say start with southeast Asia to get rubber and then go to china.

    Please, Sir, hear my cry... the New Empire needs an Emperor with good lineage, not just some adventurer who may come into power by the ignorance of the people. The monarchy is not only a representation of glory, but also the embodiment of the old Cesar.
    We do need a multicultural government, but always with the scope of protecting the emperor and his holiness, always with the grace of God and its sacred church. So don't throw away the Emperor and our millennial church for some modernity like republic and laicity.
    Please, hear my humble voice. And may God guide your path.

    My liege, as a member of your armed services there are two matters that concern me.
    1. While the support of the Austrians has been a great boon and we should be thankful for the aid granted to us, we should try to increase our armies size and quality if possible to shake off this dependence. Lest we be caught alone and incapable.
    2. Colonization of the uncentralized nations south and west of Egypt would give us a great route of expansion whilst we wait for our infamy to decay.
    I support you're intentions of annexing or puppeting the territories within Abyssinia and somalia, id recommend we grab some coastal cities for ourselves whilst the hinterlands be puppeted as to not strain our administration.
    I would like to see the Tunisians puppeted, if they have no concerning supporters. so you can have gone further then Alexander (in one direction at least)

    In Victoria 3 can you change the culture and religion of peoples you have conquered and assimilate them into your own?

      From what I understand yes, it just takes a lot of time(and during that time many become radicals that can revolt etc.)

    I think after you form *Byzantium* you should form a colony somewhere in North America and get influence and dominance in the *east Indies* . They have so much oil there and they have a guarantee to boost your economy and North or South America is more like a "future investment" that you would want to start now. Start the investment as soon as possible. That's what I believe.. expand your horizons past the minimal limitations of Europe and expand the ROM- *cough cough* , I mean byzantine legacy across the sea! Do not let the borders of Europe keep you from the open sea! Create the first Byzantium "Manifest Destiny" Event!

    In Victoria 3, do you have to be a democratic nation in order to do well/beat the game?

    'Pesmerga, the Man covered almost completely in Black Armor returns.'
    It would seem I was closer to my prey than I realized, as who else but that Demon Yuber could have destroyed my Message to you. (TH-cam deleted my comment in the last part.) Before I see the 2nd report allow me to summarize what I think was a good idea.
    A. Cultural Equality (I forgot what it's called in the game.), as in my experience Armies and Nations are far stronger and more deadly when they contain many different people, indeed I have fought alongside Men, Women, Kobolds (Dog-Men), Elves, and Wingers (People with Bat wings on their back and Bat Talons on their feet.), the leader of the 2nd army I fought even recruited a Griffon, Unicorn, and some Flying Squirrels! I want to make this clear, I do not suggest this out of kindness or Empathy, but because I have seen just how strong a Nation following this Mindset can be.
    B. Conquer the Weaker Nations South of you in North Africa, You will need to get stronger and bringing these Men into the fold is your way to do it. I'm sure at least some of them have an axe to grind with the Ottomans as well.
    C. In terms of Colonization, while I do suggest you do so, I have an asterisk to it, in that these disparate tribes and people should be allowed to keep their cultures and faiths, as I said above, that will make you stronger. Do not repeat the Mistakes of your Forebearers the Romans or indeed the Ottomans themselves. Break the Cycle. I assure you the other Colonial Powers will not be as kind.
    D. Migration to our country should be HEAVILY encouraged, many of the Best Soldiers and Minds of the Scarlet Moon Rebellion and Dunan Unification Wars came from outside the area. Off the top of my Head Hilariously the Leaders of Both winners originated from the Nation they fought, Your best Troops, Officers, and Laborers could be Migrants who have not yet moved to Greece.
    Alright, I shall now see your report and give advice in response.
    I am glad to see Multiculturalism was taken, and is already paying dividends it would seem, excellent Work. You are already nearing Forming Byzantium, that was........far quicker than I expected. You also decided to expand into Africa, although in a far different way than anticipated, I am shocked you Vassalized Egpyt. Speaking of your Vassal Strategy seems to be good, so I'd alter my previous suggestion to vassalize the North African states before the French get to them. As for colonies while the South is obvious, you may want to quickly grab the ones to the East and West before they are all gone. I advise preparing to face Russia as they are taking alot of local land. If you can manage it in your next bout with the Ottomans, I would like to request the taking of Baghdad. Finally I would advise fully loosening Migration as that will get your population to grow quicker.
    That is all, I must continue to hunt for Yuber. King Crimson hungers for his blood (I swear to The Lord that's actually his Sword's name, this isn't a Jojo reference........for once.).
    'Pesmerga leaves the room, eerily making no noise for someone with so much armor.'
    -Pesmerga

    I am a Greek too , well I really like these series and actually I really kinda like that game , but instead of Byzantine empire why don't you try to create the Macedonian empire ? 🇬🇷☀️ would be better and it would be 100% Greek also bcs Byzantine empire was Greco-Roman and also imagine that you would have under control the Egypt turkey Iraq Persia and Pakistan Afghanistan then I would recommend you to move for India and then into islands of Indonesia since you want to , or instead u could go for Arabia yeap but ofc this would take a lot time I guess , but this is a really good idea I believe
