The proportions of the staircase is very familiar. If I had to guess, I'd say that it's a shorter version (less steps) that used the same basic design as the Psycho films Fun Fact : the design for the tower section of the Psycho house was directly copied from another house facade on the Universal backlot.
I think it’s worth noting at “Armand’s” at 8:56 when they use the set as a basement… It’s worth noting, and noticing, that all camera angles tend to be looking up from a low point… even when filming the chameleon sitting down, the camera is looking at him a tad upwards. Thus giving the illusion that they are underground… Kind of cool
You are so right. What an effective technique along with the darking lighting really made it feel like a basement. I really appreciate you pointing this out.
It is amazing how distinctively plain the set is and what an achievement the set dressers contributed to the show. As a kid, watching the show, I never put it together that this set was Armand's or anything, I totally bought it. Course I also now have the mental impression that all mansions and hoyty toyty restaurants have a staircase in the background and look suspiciously like this room :)
At 7:03, there appears to be a Silver Shamrock jack-o-lantern mask from Halloween III…also a Universal production. I hope he didn’t watch the Big Giveaway commercial!
We are now watching a A team episode called The A team is coming, the A team is coming. In this episode Murdock went into the Russian embassy and i really believe the well known stairs/Devons office are now used in this episode for being the embassy. It is in the episode from 19.00 minutes. Love the channel! Regards from Holland, Sandra
I'm not sure, but there was a indoor and outdoor set on "The Fall Guy" which was also shown several times throughout the whole series. And on "The A-Team" as well.
Most definitely was used in I think two episodes of the A-Team one I’m positive the other I have to look into but one episode for sure there’s actually quite a few vehicles used in Knight Rider, that also made an appearance in the A-Team.
I believe one of the episodes of the A-Team is the rabbit that ate Las Vegas not 100% as I’m just going off of memory but I will check great video by the way!
I'm sure this set was used in "Goliath" for Devon's office at the Las Vegas FLAG HQ. Or at least part of the set as we obviously see no staircase. The door behind Michael at 4:27, the walls, skirting and columns look the same as what we see in "Goliath". Like when Devon & April are concerned when they don't hear from Michael or KITT after their collision with Goliath. So I don't know if maybe that was actually this set's first appearance in Knight Rider, but laid out differently. Or if it was another set that looked similar.
I think the show could have gone on a few more seasons. Unfortunately the writing really went downhill they seemed to just phone it in on everything! They didn't care about anything! In my Opinion
Anyone ever find the yellow vw golf that was always in the rear of shots throughout the episodes or the browny gold Mazda rx7 that also popped up in the rear,and was driven by a couple of characters,Cara caulfield was one of them when she gave Michael the wallet and gun
Through Vudu I have the entire series with the exception of the 3rd season episode Dead of Knight, but I have arranged the 4th season on my play list where all the episodes after The Scent Of The Roses are run before and the former plays as the last episode for the series as it was intended to do.
It is quite possible that the staircase itself was built for some previous Universal film production (with a budget) and then reused as a part of this set and other future sets.
Most every piece of computer equipment like those used in Knight Rider was rented from Modern Props or Woodies. One of the smaller consoles shown it that episode and a few others is currently on my dresser.
Most important gizmo in the universe would probably be easier to list productions it didn't appear in. It's so important it's final appearance ( at least as far as we know) was in animated form on Lower Decks. Also laser activation sound was the TOS Trek phaser stun sound FX.
Interesting, never realized as a kid that this was the same set, just decorated differently in these episodes. The Fright Knight view to the set is also super interesting, gives an idea how it would've looked like in "real life" :) Would be also very interesting to see the Knight Rider sound stage set, how they made the dash and voicebox light up, place where William Daniels spoke KITT's lines, etc. :)

Knight Rider truly desserved a season 5. I hated the way they canceled it. The cast and crew was truly phenomenal❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love Knight Rider but season 4 was awful. Script, story, dialogue, musical score and lack of Turbo Boost's

It wouldn't surprise me if the stairs part was not attached and could be moved. All the columns make it easy to insert false walls to change the room.
