    here's the reel! instagram.com/p/CjYBaNqNQAJ/
Also, UPDATE on the blush: when applied with a loose fluffy brush, it's much, much less saturated and more like what I was hoping for. UPDATE on the palette: funnily enough, my most-worn look since I filmed this has been a very light wash of the warm rusty bronze all over the lid. It's a "dirty" enough color that it doesn't lean orange on me at all, it's almost like a kind of mucky amber, sort of like my hair? Which is probably why I'm using it so much.

Hannah, I hear you using "special shades" a lot. Is this your own term, or an industry term for shadow that are not typical matte or shimmer?

Seeing you having fun with them makes me happy! An attractive pallet from your favorite brand is like a letter from your dearest person. It’s not only what is being told in the letter, it is also a thing that makes your heart leap before unsealing the envelope. Yes, probably I could make a dupe of the palette, but… sometimes, with some palettes, I just don’t want to.

Talking about old gum blushes, I think you would like the No7 powder blush in the shade Honey. It's a really desaturated and pale almost grey pinky-browny-beigey colour, its very subtle on the skin but builds on itself pretty well. I have a very pale and desaturated skin tone and most things look very bright on me, it's one of the only things I've found that don't do that for me!

    • @blendofdays
      @blendofdays 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

That reminds me of "papaya whip" from mua makeup academy! In pan it looks almost like the lightest shade of bronzer or contour for fair folk, but on the skin it is shockingly glorious! I picked it up on a whim after seeing someone post about their fav drugstore blushes (atomic tangerine was also on that list & I picked it up). When I went on beauty bay, I realized the mua blushes were incredibly inexpensive! I also picked up two of their liquid blushes & all four blushes I have from them are so beautiful! Shame you can't get them now, I might have to take a look at no7!

Ohhh, HLP, love that palette, and wish I could snag it, but alas, the talc and cones take it off the table. The colors still are a bit warmer than I'd go for, but the softness of the champagne and black are selling points, as is the olive you saw in the bronze. To me, tarnished bronze metal can look olivey sometimes.
So, here comes one of my longass posts. It might help other pale muted skin folks who have issues similar to mine, and are looking for substitutes.
I started pulling colors from my stash, trying to see if I could dupe it. First, I tried my clove + hallow pressed pigment eyeshadows. I'd love to see you review these, because they all only have 15 ingredients, as well as no talc or cones. The copper (Ember, and maybe Goddess,) champagne (Royal & Bling,) some random shimmers (Envy, Tenor,) and a few of the mid & dark mattes (Gravity, Deeply, Dark Matter, Freckled, Mid, Peachy) may work, alone or layered, but they won't have quite the same vavoom as a PM, I'm assuming, having never swatched them. I do love the texture of C+H pressed powder products, though, and would like to see more reviews of them.
I then moved onto my old RMS eyeshadow singles, which have some lovely olive hued colors, and one was an olive brown, but none were olivey bronze. A couple of the dark mattes might work from that as well.
Pacifica, zuzu luxe, well people, and lily lolo were quickly set aside - nothing really seemed to come close. Red Apple Lipstick's Lucky Penny, and Sugar & Spice might work layered with other colors. HAN New York Nights palette is all coolish-neutral, and the highlighter too strong for the subtle champagne.
So, I moved on to my AETHER/ATHR palettes. Energy in the Crystal Grid palette could be a decent stand in for the coppery color. Midsummer, in the Solstice Solstice palette, may kinda work for the olivey bronze, but it has twinkles. Eternal, in the Desert Sunset palette, might be another contender.
Lastly, I went into the Lovinah palettes, and the metallics are too vibrant, and the mahogany browns are matte.
So far, it seems that C+H, Red Apple Lipstick, and maybe a few RMS & AETHER might work, but nothing is spot on.
TY for sharing this palette with us!

Whenever I hear the word "quints" I think of "The Arizona Quints" from Raising Arizona...love the strategy of lips first in fall...I'm still wearing a bold lip anyway, but I'm a bit overly made up for my tastes. Gonna try that...I have that platinum in the Metalopolis palette (6 pan holiday pallette from about 5 years ago). It's such a banging bright metallic. If you are having trouble getting that matte black to stick over the other formula, maybe put down some black eyeliner with a brush and then tap that shade over it. That's my technique for dealing with a matte that doesn't want to stick or looks patchy...I know it's an extra step, but at least it's not an extra piece of kit...your final look with the blushy cheeks, bold lip, big hair and smokey eye is giving me Peak Carol Kane vibes....

If you had the Tarte Paaarty blush, it’s similar in depth and that it leans pink, but the pat McGrath is even more brown based and neutral. When applied with a synthetic brush, it’s an amazing blush that doesn’t look like blush type of color if that makes sense, but you can build it up or use a more dense brush like Hannah did

Couldn't agree more with everything you said, I haven't wanted to use any other eyeshadow since receiving this palette. I've had a lot of fun using it to create glam angry eyes looks ✨️ and the textures are to die for, I've still been applying with fingers just so I get to touch the shadows even though the application isn't as good lol

Laura Mercier powder blush in Chai is another old gum shade that I love and is less pigmented than fleurtatious.

My dupe for the brown in the TF naked bronze is the shade “rustic” in the Biba palette. It is so beautiful and rich. I love it

If you look at the pallete promo photo, the shade Rustic looks tan and light but if you look at the swatches of the color they are more accurate

I enjoyed your video! Very relaxing.
I don’t own any PM, only ND! I’m tempted to put this palette on my Christmas list (even though I already have a list with other palettes haha). But you look gorgeous in those shades! I’m as fair skinned as you so it’s nice to see how the colours look! Also, you are a classic beauty. I can picture you in a Jane Austen movie!;)

When I saw this palette it made me think "I wonder if Hannah is going to buy it" lol, it's the other one of the quints that's tempting me, just more my colour story, so I think it'll make it's way onto my Christmas list, but we'll see! I've been going back and watching your no buy content recently and something it really taught me is I can wait to see what the desire does, if it fades or stays :)

Theresa is Dead reviewed this collection as well and in a comment a MUA said the PMG holiday palettes are a different quality than the Motherships. Theresa had a similar issue with the matte she used - patchy, etc.- and the shimmer/glitter not having as much punch.

Desert Orchid and Fleurtatious are my 2 favorite Pat McGrath blushes. I have light neutral olive undertone. On me, the desert orchid acts like a soft perfect bronzer with a rosy undertone with no orange. I reach for it so often.

I am surprised you went for Fleurtatious rather than Desert Orchid. I own both, plus Nude Venus and love them all. My favourite blushes by far.

I'm really pink and pale and Fleurtatious does the same thing for me. It pulls neutral and adds a hint of warmth without being too peach/orange/terracotta like most warm tone brushes. It doesn't seem to do that effect for most people, but I don't care and I enjoy having the shade and formula in my collection.

I think you made a good call getting a permanent-line blush and not a holiday blush (the holiday blushes seem.... iffy formula-wise in other YT'er reviews)🧐

  • @89dings

Wow that review is very helpful. I recently got the flirtatious blush, too and I totally agree. It has something old gum-y more than you would expekt at first glance 😁 Do you know wich blush really made me think of you in terms of it´s old-gum-y-ness? The Jillian Dempsey Cheek Tint in "Bloom". It is very desaturated, too so if you like the formula (I think you tried it before but I am not sure if you liked it or not) that might be an interesting one for you. Have a good one 🙂

Thank you for being my Marvel film whilst luxuriously massaging rose scented body wash into my aching muscles HLP 🥂 my dead goth heart beats for thee 🎃🤟🏾
I think fume by phytosurgence is your ultimate old gum shade, it's without question, but this gives you that "is it bronzer" look that I like to do with rosy tones like Pat McGrath's D32 concealer.

I have an old Lise Watier blush in this exact color and I have loved it for years!! It's such a beautiful shade, especially on our skintone ( I think I have more yellow in my skin than you tho)!

I didn‘t buy any Eyeshadow this year and never bought something from PMG (too many roses, too expensive), but Bronze Bliss is coming my way as well ☺️ Has anyone actually thought about the fact that PMG might be inspired by the five pan minis of Natasha Denona? Not to say that she would need to copy, she‘s great doing this on her very own, but still…

I have had fleuratious for a while and then bought nude venus, which is the most beautiful blush ever. I find myself reaching for both above all others. Interested to see if it grows on you!

The dessert orchid is gorgeous. Try lighter handed, it’s really pretty. Good luck!
