  • I try fruitcake for the first time in over 30 years as I seek to determine why this is still a holiday classic.

Apparently I needed to know. I’m not taking ownership on this one.

Hi Chris. I love Fruitcake! Had you there for a moment. I too dislike it. That close up you showed did resemble mold. This reminds me of when I used to eat spumoni ice cream as a kid and spit out all the fruits and nuts to get the pistachio and chocolate ice cream. Pixie

God I hated spumoni. Granted I know the problem was my eyes saw it and my brain said “MINT!” …. it was not mint.

spumoni is pistachio flavored right? Ive never seen it with nything other than pistacchio nuts in it. and it was green

I will say I believe my bff from Ukraine really likes it. I'm so curious as to what it tastes like now. Gonna have to get one this year

Okay, this is a 100% truthful story...The first 12 years of my life, my Mom had a fruitcake that she brought out every Christmas AS A DECORATION and stored the rest of the year in the attic with the rest of the decorations. I finally convinced her when I was 12 years old to try it, and it was one of the most godawful things I've ever tasted...and I like haggis! 🤣😁

YES!!!! That’s hilarious! I don’t think we ever had a decorative cake but it … was probably every bit as fresh as the day it was baked.

I don't understand it either... and I eat a slice every year even though I don't enjoy it ... life is just like that I gues ? I

Why do we do this to ourselves? Surely tradition can’t be that important!
