Good video, it was good to see the setup at the fish farm. I was trying to determine how to set up aquaponics tanks to accept my clay pond grown catfish here on our farm..
I like the narrow shallow concrete systems they they have allowing them simply and easily walk through with a net that fits the waterway, that makes catching them quite easy. I think this is how I would want to setup for mine as well.
Thank you for the video's I am finding them quite helpful...

Here's a secret. To breed with catfish basically all year round, you have to mix the fluid from a male catfish's pineal gland with the eggs from a female. You must unfortunately dispatch the male and you will locate the pineal gland just below the armored plate which forms the top of the skull. Mix the fluid from the gland into a tablespoon of distilled water using a soft feather. Strip a female of her eggs, stroking both sides of the fish downwards simultaneously and quite firmly with both hands, using a smooth steady motion. Strip the unfertilized eggs into a bowl of distilled water. Essentially the pineal gland fluid is the same as the male catfish's sperm, so you then pour the tablespoon of fluid into the bowl containing the eggs, and mix them together well, again using a soft feather.. Leave the eggs to settle and become fertilized for a while..
Then apply basic aquaculture principles until the eggs hatch out and you have thousands of fingerlings. More specifically, the whole process must be done indoors under controlled conditions. Use clean, flowing water and keep it at the same temperature. We found that using a pvc pipe, placed upright to fit discs of the mesh(mosquito wire)into work well. You can make rounds using plaastic coated wire, to which you attach the mesh roundels. Water flows into the pipe from the top and travels down over the eggs and through slits in the lower half of the pipe sections. It can be a free-flowing or re-circulatory system, so long as the water is clean and remains at the same temperature. You will have to experiment to see what the ideal temperature range is, depending on where you live and the species of catfish you intend to farm... African catfish need a temperature of around 18 -20 degrees C, whereas trout are happy with temperatures of 12 to 8 degrees. The fine mesh holds the fertilized eggs in place until they are hatched out. When the fry have absorbed their egg sacs, you can carefully transfer them into a larger fish tank or pond and start feeding them with daphnia or commercial trout fingerling pellets. Tetra min granules also work well to begin with. As I said It's a big secret so make sure you don't tell anyone about it ; ). We had a 99% success rate using this artificial method of propagation with catfish.
As the fish grow larger they will need to be fed regularly. Earthworms are good for smaller fish, but we stayed away from commercial pellets as they tend to give fish a muddy taste. An earth worm farm is a must. A cheap way of feeding the fish and really boosting their growth rate is to have a steady supply of carp, which can be descaled and then cut into strips. Everything is gobbled up, even the heads and inner parts. It is ideal to have a few carp stew ponds to draw from.We fed the carp with boiled maize, which is also a cleaner food to use.
Good luck and I will be glad to answer any questions you may have concerning this method of breeding with catfish for the table.

To remove the contents of the pineal gland, a careful touch is required. Use a scapula to scoop it out once it has been located.

In particular for the environment it's never a good idea to introduce a quickly reproducing species in an area they aren't native to . Look what happened in North America th-cam.com/video/rPeg1tbBt0A/w-d-xo.html

That's only the most obvious example there are a lot more to best not to mess with dear old mother nature. In the States it's a constant battle against many plants and animals that frankly don't belong in our ecosystem. It's much easier to keep them out than it is to control them after they are present that's for sure!
