Danny, I personally gain so much inspiration from watching you and Wanda sharing the more useful tools to make your life easier and more successful in your food production or farm work. I just watched your porch time video. Please keep showing all the new gadgets that help us older folks do the jobs easier. I appreciate you showing me how to keep going at almost 69, with health issues. God bless you, Danny and Wanda.

The vego beds look great and the trellises. But being retired and trying to make ends meet growing as much as I can I have to use what I can afford. Happy for you to have such a fantastic set up and which everyone could but we all do with what we have. Just have to be creative I have old stock tanks. 5 gallon buckets. Grow bags and giant tubs that I could pick up for a good deal. Your high tunnel is beautiful. I ask the Lord to have His hand on my garden and bless it. Keeping it safe from our intense heat wave we have here in east central Indiana. And. So many people across the country have gardens suffering from the heat.

I think I would prefer the cattle panel in the middle. Ideally it seems it would be better for growing on both sides rather than one side needing to grow for a longer time just to reach that Vego trellis?

❤❤I love the way you are utilizing the vego beds and trellises and arches to create a microclimate to make growing in extreme summer heat like we have in the south possible! I have sweet potato slips growing in mineral tubs for now. Most of my plants are growing in mineral tubs and large pots under a canopy of 90 year old live oak trees in my front yard. The live oak trees create a very nice microclimate for plants and humans! Have a blessed day!

I like those trellis's. Good idea to use the other shade clothe if need to since heat probably won't relent and get worse.
It's good to know that beds are wet enough and to hold off some.
Praying the sweet potatoes do well and protect micro climate from sun somewhat.
Everything is growing so well and it's good have the trellis's to tie plants to.
I like the green stalks. I am going to be planting in mine soon.
The green stalk should do well there in the high tunnel.
Thanks so much for sharing the trellis's and what you two are up to.

Danny, I think hanging the 2nd shade cloth from the cross bracing of the high tunnel might work better. It would give you room to walk like normal through the entire high tunnel and it might be easier to manage. Just flip some thin rope/cording over the cross braces and tie to shade cloth and pull up to the cross bracing level. Excess heat will be between the outer plastic and that inner shade cloth and the side vents are at the right level to exhaust that excess heat. Just my thought in watching the video.

Nice work!...I don't know anything but I'm just thinking...I'm wondering if these solar storms aren't ALL bad. I have also experienced this "steroid" effect on my plants----but the bugs have been crazy---both good and bad. From a little research, I found that insects have magneto-receptors in their abdomens which respond to levels of magnetism and guide their migration. Could the presence of more insect life affect the plants in a positive way? ....Also gotta wonder if some of the plants aren't benefitting from these storms? I thought they were bolting. But no, 99% of my plants have thrived in this environment, and so far, have produced far better than expected, albeit my growing methods have changed quite a bit...I am no expert----just letting my mind wander LOL.

Cheap idea for raised beds, get a roll of metal flashing (like used in roofing) from the home improvement store of your choice, cut to desired length and rivet the ends together. You can form it into a circle or the oblong shape. When it’s filled up it will hold its shape. I made a few this spring and they’re working great!

@miephoex Being disappointed in someone who is making the most of their blessings seems like a fairly hypocritical stance to take... It takes maximum effort to get maximum results. I doubt Danny got where he is through handouts. Today's "regular" folks mostly lack what it takes to push through all the adversity and become more than "regular". They're content just making ends meet rather than shooting for the stars.
