The difference between watching podcasts vs just listening is you see the body language, because that helps convey emotion and context.

I’m 37 with two kids and my husband. I’m cleaning, starting food for breakfast and getting a load of laundry started. I linked all my TVs so I can see/hear as I put things away throughout the house without missing a thing. Sometimes I need a break and I have something to look at while I sit. Also my teens will wake up to y’all which isn’t to agressive like other things I could throw on at 5 am. Anyway old lady likes her visuals too. It helps me multitask because I can use my brain for what I’m doing instead of imagining extra stuff. Which would be inevitable without video. 🖤💕

We’ve had a similar food waste system in the UK for years now, but ours is slightly different. The council also provides a larger outdoor bucket for the smaller indoor bucket’s waste to go into as well as a roll of compostable bags to use in the small indoor bucket. So, you line the small bucket with the compostable bag, fill it with food waste, tie it up and put it in the big bucket outside. The big bucket gets picked up in a separate truck to the regular household waste then goes to the compost site. The council provides free refills for the compostable bags when you ask for it :)

Same in London, we have the compostable bags. Using plastic bags, from my point of view, it's nonsense. Co-op uses compostable bags as their grocery bags. Good to hear that the compostable bucket is starting in other parts of the world, I suppose it will take a while until the whole compostable bags start for L.A.

In Minneapolis we had a compost bin. It was just like a smaller bin, maybe half the width of a normal trash bin. You would get compostable bags and put your compost stuff in them and then take it out to the compost bin in the alley by your other bins and they pick it up with your trash and recycling.

Okay, two things. 1. I have a bath while watching/listening to ear biscuits. 2. I’m in Calgary Canada. We’ve been recycling food waste for years - maybe even a decade. There are compostable bags you can buy which fit into your little bucket and also breakdown - my grocery store bags are actually made from a compostable “plastic” so you can use those instead. Or you can use paper bags or paper liners. The yard waste and food waste here is composted together and then you can go and get free buckets of compost in the spring. We can put absolutely anything in - meat, bones, grease, liquids - all of it. It always surprises me how “behind” the US is when it comes to recycling.

I have been in the solid waste and recycling industry for 37 years. All landfills in the US are highly regulated and cannot release methane. Most flare it off, some turn it into energy or renewable natural gas. All landfills also have controls to protect ground water with a liner system, they are not just holes in the ground like 50 years ago. And we are not running out of landfill space. Recycling or composting strictly for landfill avoidance at any environmental cost can cause more environmental harm than good. By the time you the consumer buy a product, whether or not it is recyclable or compostable, most of the environmental damage has already been done upstream in manufacturing. It might make you feel good, but recycling incurs a lot of environmental costs.

I'm 39 & eating my breakfast while watching. I don't actively watch 100% of the time but I like seeing y'all's faces. I hope young people watch because the young people I know don't seem to know how to have conversations with each other. Maybe y'all are helping Mythical Beasts with their social skills.

I'm 28 (is that considered young compared to ya'll?) and I like watching your podcasts. I'm eating at the moment and watching ya'll on my phone. I also like to play them on the TV while doing chores. I'm pretty sure the reason I prefer watching is because it gives me a sense of comfort. It feels like I got friends over and helps me feel less lonely (I live alone). I like being able to wash dishes and just look up and see you guys talking there, at the table, and even be part of the conversation in my mind at least...I also just listen to the podcasts while driving sometimes, for the same reason- to not feel so alone 🙃
I certainly dont watch them while doing something that needs my complete attention though 🤪

This whole food waste conversation was hilarious to listen to. The city I live in has had this for at least 5/6 years. And I agree that when it first got implemented I thought (and still do) think it’s a scam. As long as a have been alive my family has had our own compost bin in our backyard for food waste (this is inner city bungalow, not like a farm or something) that would turn to soil for our own garden. Then all of a sudden the city implemented this MANDATORY compost pick up that you can not opt out of and costs $30 a month… (added on your water bill).

Seeing people helps me focus on my task. It helps hold me accountable. It's called body doubling. A lot of people with ADHD rely on it. That's why I watched the video format instead of listening to the audio format.

I’m 25 and vastly prefer video podcasts. Normally I don’t watch the whole thing, I’ll just listen for most of it. It’s just nice because so many podcasts show pictures or TALK ABOUT THE GLASSES THAT THEYRE WEARING and it’s nice to look and see what’s being discussed. Hope this helps

Hey fellas. I almost exclusively watch the TH-cam version of EB usually in the wee hours of the morning, I light a Nag Champa , sit criss cross applesauce armed with guitar and notebook - and write. It's become a ritual and I find it very useful and productive- I will strum around til I find something that excites me , and then proceed to write a melody. Here is where the synergy happens - I will grab a random word , phrase or theme from your talks and let it shape itself thereafter. It is an organic and gratifying process and I feel that my best material has been forged in these moments. Thank you gentlemen for being a cornerstone and a blessing. Rhett, you made a country fan out of me- amazing work. Link - those glasses would wear most men but you wear those glasses like a mf- all u need is a salmon colored Member's Only jacket and you will probably be able to freeze time like Zack Morris.

They've had a similar compost system in my part of Canada for years at this point, BUT there's no plastic bag. They give you this tall bin with a metal bar on the side, and every week the truck will come and pick it up with this crane-type arm and dump it into its repository.

I “watch” this podcast. Sometimes there are helpful visuals that you guys add like a picture from a trip. Most of the time I’m not actual looking at the phone indeed I could be in another room just listening to it. I think the reason I like TH-cam’s feed better is if you have TH-cam premium no ads

As a new mom, the internet has been awesome for finding communities of likeminded families...though there is definitely a need for intense curation or you're asking for a headache and probably a good dose of anxiety. Also for any other new parents I highly recommend reading up on the Safe Sleep Seven for safe cosleeping....up to 90% of new parents end up cosleeping at some point, many unintentionally falling asleep in terribly unsafe conditions (which cause the vast majority of tragic outcomes attributed to cosleeping). Cosleeping safely can be a total game changer for parents of babes who just won't settle on their own!

On the one hand I understand what you’re saying: I do generally prefer to listen to recreational podcasts where I can watch. It is great to be able to see people’s faces, especially with certain tones and implications, just because it helps to understand whether something was a joke or was serious, when sometimes that might have been slightly ambiguous. I also like being able to see pictures that you guys put on…
Sometimes, like with informative podcasts, I prefer to listen while also cleaning or doing something else.
I do also listen to you guys while I do my work. I am going for a masters in German linguistics and I have to write a lot of papers for that. So I like to have something on in the background while I do that, and EarBiscuits is one of the things I like to have on during that. It doesn’t really distract me because I’m so focused on the other things, but it is really great to have something in the background, otherwise my apartment is entirely quiet. Then I usually listen again in my free-time to really hear it.
