To see McDriver be as dominant as he is right now is exciting. If he can be competitive during the playoffs, he might be the Alan Kulwicki of our generation! He has certainly put in his time and persevered. I remember hanging with him in Fontana as we shared a condo with Trevor Bayne after revor won the Daytona 500. Michael and I were driving around Fontana and went to a Kinkos to print hero cards at a Kinkos while he was driving for one of the lowest teams in the Xfinity series. He had the same humility and drive as he has now! His attitude has never wavered. He is a fighter. I hope when it's all said and done, fans will appreciate him for his work ethic, faith, and perseverance.
I was there live. Nice hot day for it. Ty Gibbs really impressed yesterday at the Xfinity race and had a strong outing today as well. Congrats to Byron. He ran a heckuva race.
Real happy for Byron's first road course win, but man I felt so bad for McDowell he was doing real good. Larson was doing good up until that penalty exiting the pits set him back
Agree, I loved the race, except when Chase ran out of fuel. This was not boring at all. 7/10 race. This race had so many interesting moments and pit road action. If it was boring, nothing would have actually happened at all. Stop complaining people. This is how road course racing always has been without gimmicks. Felt like a traditional old school strategy race.
Everywhere else in the racing world they worry about cars ‘exceeding track limits’ love that nascar let’s their cars use every part of the track and then some. Great race
Great race! Even though it was more of a strategy race, it was far from boring! Love this track! It is one of the few tracks that always delivers! 7/10 race. Haters are always going to hate and will always complain if the race does not meet their expectations.
Gen 6 vs Next Gen Short Tracks (less than 1.5 mi) Gen 6 > Next Gen Intermediates (1.5-2 mi) Gen 6 < Next Gen Superspeedways Gen 6 > Next Gen Road Courses Gen 6 > Next Gen This year everything other than the on track product has been excellent. Time to fix the car.
I'm surprised with this race because I've found many stable cars, Nascar has Improved the level in permanent circuits and these cars were so quick, and the fluence of the race was nice. Also it's nice to watch a race in Watkins Glen again because it has the best turn not only in Nascar but in USA.
Poor Mcdowell , but the first pix box he crossed should not have counted . Also , I miss stage brakes on road courses . Road races are kinda boring without them .
No stage cautions ever. If you think a full circuit race is boring without forced breaks, racing might not be for you. Try NHRA if you have a short attention span.
So It Was Michael Mcdowell the #44 won the First Stage. And William Byron won in Stage 2. And So William Byron won in Stage 3 at Watkins Glen International In Watkins Glen New York in NASCAR Cup Series will See at Daytona International Speedway In Daytona Florida Next Week.
Freeze video at 4:33, and you can clearly see. There is no pit-box between the 20 and the 99. Nascar counted the box with guys standing on the wall with tshirts and cameras, as a pit-box.... There is no tool-box, no banner on the wall, no sign indicating its a pit-box.
It's a pointless wiper they all run for aerodynamic purposes on road courses. Nascar says you can run it "in case of rain" but rain might not be in the forecast and they will still run it for downforce. It's dumb and ugly.
McDowells crew chief should be demoted. Mc Dowell did his job what was the crew chief doing during the race. If my driver was leading and going too pit crew chief should have been on radio reminding his driver concerning pit road speed and pit boxes and what ever he needed too know.
Without question, one of the most boring races at the Glen. Top 10 race leaders protect their points and seriously challenge no one. End of regular season boring.
These next gen cars either need to be fixed or sent to the scrap heap. I’m pretty sure the top 10 remained the same for nearly 30 straight remaining laps. Xfinity series race was much more exciting. Bring back stage cautions for road courses until this car is fixed!
ha....they just removed stage cautions because everyone hates them lol. Listening to nascar fans try to figure out what they want can be maddening, only constant is complaining.
What a boring race... i was there... ot nearly exciting as it had been in years prior... they need to make it longer, Watkins is the fastest road course, would be nice to see it started earlier in the day, and extended maybe 20-30 more laps... bring back the caution after the stage wins also
Thank you, why is that not in the highlights??? Last week's winner, stage 1 winner, running in 9th and still no mention of a blown engine in the highlights.....pitiful.
Absolutely no entertainment value. Passing is nearly impossible. Every driver is able to get the car to it's limit, the car is too slow, too stable, too close in lap times. The leader can barely pass the last place car.
Well I mean he locked his brakes up trying to stop. And for more Dillon hit Larson into the corner because Dillon held him up 20% of the race and got mad that he passed him.. would’ve been back with Dillon if he didn’t speed in the pits. Dillons fault not Larson… living room expert obviously
Ngl I think it's neat Byron is making his own identity in the 24, can't be easy with everything jeff accomplished in that car!!
Lies again? Let's go anal clear s**t
Solid performance by the JGR guys this weekend 👏👏👏
William Byron has won as many races for Hendrick Motorsports as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Darrell Waltrip & Tim Richmond
Dang that's crazy
Crazy indeed

Congrats to Byron, but DEF wanted to see McDowell go back to back
Sad to see how it went down for him. Looked like it was gonna be 34, 11, 24
Mistakes will cost a win but he got back to the top 10
I was hoping for McDowell to win but when I saw he went down to last we almost cried😢
Me too!
ME TOO.... But a momentary lapse in thought.
I was there live. Nice hot day for it. Ty Gibbs really impressed yesterday at the Xfinity race and had a strong outing today as well. Congrats to Byron. He ran a heckuva race.
A great showing by Ty all weekend, for sure! Thanks for coming out to the race!
Real happy for Byron's first road course win, but man I felt so bad for McDowell he was doing real good. Larson was doing good up until that penalty exiting the pits set him back
Missed the broadcast, looks like I didn't miss much.
Heck yes, what a great race and an awesome winner🎉🎉🎉 congrats #24
I don't know what race you thought was today, but this is the Watkins Glen race from 2023. This wasn't a great race.
Agree, I loved the race, except when Chase ran out of fuel. This was not boring at all. 7/10 race. This race had so many interesting moments and pit road action. If it was boring, nothing would have actually happened at all. Stop complaining people. This is how road course racing always has been without gimmicks. McDowell wins this race easily if not for the mistake on pit row.
I think you're forgetting who the only DNF was.
Didn't matter, he had a car problem in the end.
Mcdriver must have missed a shift and buzzed the motor? Roush Yates horsepower is usually bulletproof.
Everywhere else in the racing world they worry about cars ‘exceeding track limits’ love that nascar let’s their cars use every part of the track and then some. Great race
That camera shot at 00:31 is just 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾
Great job on today's race... William Byron #24 🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊 Congratulations on your 5th win ...
AWESOME 😊
I was there today it was fun!!!! Next time gonna need a headset its so LOUD!🤣
I always bring noise canceling headphones. Makes the experience much better imo.
Congratulations William. So glad it wasn't Truex or Hamlin
Why don't you like Truex?
Great job Byron 🎉🎉🎉
In any other racing series, there are track limits. In Nascar, *road is road*
Great race! Even though it was more of a strategy race, it was far from boring! Love this track! It is one of the few tracks that always delivers! 7/10 race. Haters are always going to hate and will always complain if the race does not meet their expectations.
This not being able to pass stuff is getting old.
Bad boring race
That's the "new car" and it's crappy packages that lead to this. Just let them race NASCAR! If you're scared, "Get out of the car, the car, Cole! "!!!

Couldn’t agree more
Awesome job by Byron! Congrats!
Nobody could drive the Glen , like Jeff Gordon .
True but Byron did that #24 car some justice with this win
I'm surprised with this race because I've found many stable cars, Nascar has Improved the level in permanent circuits and these cars were so quick, and the fluence of the race was nice. Also it's nice to watch a race in Watkins Glen again because it has the best turn not only in Nascar but in USA.
Rear Wheel Willy in NY 🗽 big win
Byron and Fugle Masterclass
Congratulations 🎊
Yea, 24 wins!!
Show the victory burnout!😮💨
The Xfinity race was amazing. This race, not so much.
This looks like a really good track, love it
Good job William Byron
Didnt get to watch but Im hyped for Daytona. Lord please no weather delays!!
There's so much passing I can't keep up. lol
This NASCAR baby baby yeah yeah yeah 😅😅😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😂😂😂😂👷👷👷👷👷👷👷😅😅😂😆😆😆🚄🚄🚄🚄🚄
Another amazing race 😂😂
They slowed the new cars too much. The races are getting too spread out. Good races can still happen, but they seem to be less frequent.
a real battle to the end....one pass for the lead remember hamlin and mcdowell thats it
That car sucks, but I’m glad to see McDowell doing well.

Good catch! He shouldn't have been penalized.
what is the thing in the middle of the windshield? it's the first time i've seen that
It's a wiper. Your car has them too.
It's a pointless wiper they all run for aerodynamic purposes on road courses. Nascar says you can run it "in case of rain" but rain might not be in the forecast and they will still run it for downforce. It's dumb and ugly.
@@ykdavidThanks. My dumb brain didn't even think that it's obviously a wiper.
720p??? Are the financial times that hard at NASCAR that you cant upload at a higher resolution???
If McDowell doesn't have that penalty this race would've been a lot better. Though at least Chase had problems, so it wasn't all bad 🤣🤣
Clean ahss race
Full Race Highlights at The Watkins Glen International In Watkins Glen New York for NASCAR Cup Series.
Short race........thinking I miss stage breaks. Good race, though.
Obviously at 8 minutes they use the term highlights loosely.
These road course are looking like f1 races. Need more restarts
Hey NBC--why are you not on TV???
Boring race anyway.
Man I gotta give to nascar. This race was so boring that I fell asleep with my mouth open.
McDowells crew chief should be demoted. Mc Dowell did his job what was the crew chief doing during the race. If my driver was leading and going too pit crew chief should have been on radio reminding his driver concerning pit road speed and pit boxes and what ever he needed too know.
What mistake? I counted three pitstalls before his not 4 like the GM sponsored announcers did.
What’s the sense in curbs if they just use the runoff area without penalty? They should put gravel out there.
Without question, one of the most boring races at the Glen. Top 10 race leaders protect their points and seriously challenge no one. End of regular season boring.
Under iRacing track limits rules, everyone would have been disqualified.
But this is real racing
So Glad William Bryon won, instead of the punk Hamlin.
When did fans start hating Hamilin. It seems liek they used to like him back in the day
These next gen cars either need to be fixed or sent to the scrap heap.
Wahhh no fake drama waaahhh
Yep, and with 4 hour pit stops. @@Mike-qu8bh
TURN LEFT
Now Daytona
Here I am watching the "Extended Highlights" when I watched the actual race and didn't see anything worth highlighting.
How embarrassing Elliot. Great job.
No highlights just 34 winning stage one 34 has penalty 24 takes the lead 24 wins stage two and wins worst race of the year 1/10
We need a commentator with a masculine voice instead of yappy Skippy
What a boring race... i was there... ot nearly exciting as it had been in years prior... they need to make it longer, Watkins is the fastest road course, would be nice to see it started earlier in the day, and extended maybe 20-30 more laps... bring back the caution after the stage wins also
Please, please... trackpass back!
hi nascar
Of course Hendricks car wins!
What a great race!.. said nobody.
Other than the butcher job of the Canadian national anthem this was an entertaining race.
YESSSSIRRRRR
What happened to Mcdowell to cause a DNF?
Engine blow
Thank you, why is that not in the highlights??? Last week's winner, stage 1 winner, running in 9th and still no mention of a blown engine in the highlights.....pitiful.
Lot of drivers better look elsewhere for driving jobs as NASCAR may merge with Indy or formula.
No chase Elliott
I’m tired of no passing, racing to half way, chase Elliot making the playoffs & he fails. Football in 3 weeks.
Even if chase didn’t just die on the track he wouldn’t have won
Byron irrelevant if McDowell doesn't make a stupid mistake in the pits.
Need to go back to solid rear axle and h pattern shifter to get back to real murica nascar not european/australian super touring.
No track limits?
Hi NASCAR
hi!
@NASCAR worst race of the year can't pass. Nascar, please fix this car
BORING
Drove through 4 empty boxes so dumb. Use your head NASCAR!
These road races suck. Take it back to only 2
Very meh race if it was just the same few cars on the front.
Let’s goo
What a boring race. Bring back the stage breaks. More restarts mean more excitement. These last 2 road courses sucked.
glad i didn't watch, if those are the best highlights you have. Nascar is ovals not road.
That race sucked.... fix this car already
It wasn't the car that was the problem, it was the race format
@@MrMO7819 it's the car and partially the package
I mean, they could have made a few tweaks to make it easier to pass, idk. Seemed like the cars at the front were too equal
@@MrMO7819it’s this car, the package the shit hp they run
Very boring race. Highlights should last 8 seconds...
Agree. Show the start through the first few turns and then show the last lap. Either way, boring.
Hamlin wins (the ugly car contest)
Stupid coverage ending the video without showing the full results. 🙄
Absolutely no entertainment value. Passing is nearly impossible. Every driver is able to get the car to it's limit, the car is too slow, too stable, too close in lap times. The leader can barely pass the last place car.
Yawn 🥱 NASCAR has definitely become the baseball of racing..
Next Gen Mid.
Super boring, it's the worst Nascar race in a long time. NOTHING HAPPENED, PURE boring 😴
Both Texass races last year were the worst. This one was just a clean and uneventful race.
Chase Elliott's crew should all be fired! Hendricks is letting him down! I hope he doesn't make the playoffs! NASCAR will make it happen though
Road racing has become so boring…….
Larson: what a cry baby! Had to take 3 out?
Well I mean he locked his brakes up trying to stop. And for more Dillon hit Larson into the corner because Dillon held him up 20% of the race and got mad that he passed him.. would’ve been back with Dillon if he didn’t speed in the pits. Dillons fault not Larson… living room expert obviously
Terrible race
Boring race
Again
