Super review!!! thanks!! but what do you suggest to these type of waves that i saw in the video? a baby baggy or a wider more volume board like lost stab or paddle jumber?
It all depends on what you prefer. Obviously for mushy surf like this you could definitely benefit from a wider, fuller board like a puddle jumper but personally i am not a huge fan of wide nose, thick, fishy boards so the baby buggy is a performance groveler for me compared to say a Driver, or Sub Buggy or Pocket Rocket. Those types of boards you must have a powerful good wave to ride, the baby buggy, once again for me, is a great all arounder that works good in soft mushy conditions. Hope that helps, thanks for watching our review!!
Hi great reviews what would you say are the main differences between the PU an carbon wrap baby buggy ? I am looking for a performance board for small-medium weaker waves (i live in Israel) and contemplating the baby buggy vs the vs stealth. I am 5'8'' 160 pounds and thinking 5'7'' baby buggy at 26L or 5'7'' steakth at 26'6L what are your thoughts ? P.S. I love riding quads, the stealth is 5 fin baby buggy is thruster. Thanks a lot and keep up the great job
thank you! appreciate that, so many different boards out there so little time, will do my best to squeeze one of those in there soon. we will be featuring a more versatile group of shapes in 2017 for sure, we have covered the 5'8's thoroughly! lol
Hope you test drive a Pukas Heaven's Door :) It's advertised as the most user-friendly, highest volume board that you can maneuver and even rip on 1 to 6ft waves.
No i haven't, unfortunately the waves around here don't really warrant using channels. I will tell you if you live somewhere with good surf or want to use it as a travel board then get one!! I have sold four or five to people using them as travel boards and they loved them. With the round tail and deep channels the board will grip insane in the pocket but still have a little more paddle power then a typical shortboard you would ride in solid surf. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
If i had to go with one for the rest of my life i would probably have to say the poly. Mostly because the majority of times i surf its windy, choppy conditions. The CW is incredible if you are dealing with cleaner surf but it does have that epoxy "bouncy" feel in choppy surf. Basically if you surf clean, glassy waves most of the time the CW is 100% the way to go, if not poly is the safer route.
like i said in the review i think its the benefit of Mayhem's amazing shapes being available in that construction that makes them so special. I grew up in Melbourne FL and it has been a hotbed for epoxy board builders for years with the COIL bros, AJ Finan, all the way back to the legendary Greg Loehr. Compared to ALL the molded epoxies out there (surftech, boardworks, etc...) the Carbon Wrap is far superior due to its flex and spring. Molded epoxy boards are to stiff and have weird flex patterns. These are more like a sensitive PU that has a little more speed and springiness, you will be very happy with it. Hate to say it also but i think some of these epoxies, other brands then Lost, out there being built in China in similar construction just don't work as good. Stick with the CW in the model you like and you will be stoked!
The sci-fi feels a little more like a traditional PU under your feet then the CW. The CW is 100% more durable then the LFT type construction that Slater designs uses but they both feel great once you get them in the water. If i had to choose one it would probably be the sci-fi or the PU baby buggy over the CW version. hope that helps, cheers!
thanks for the great input and quik response how would you compare the bouyancy of the firewire LFT, lost carbon wrap and regular PU ? I am looking for a performance board for small to medium weaker waves (i live in Israel) and contemplating the baby buggy vs the lost v3 stealth vs the sci-fi. I am 5'8'' 160 pounds and thinking 5'7'' baby buggy at 26L or 5'7'' stealth at 26'6L or 5'7'' sci-fi at 26.2 what are your thoughts ? P.S. I love riding quads, the stealth is 5 fin baby buggy is thruster. Thanks a lot and keep up the great job
Well since you love riding quads i would look at ruling out the baby buggy (i love that model but no good as a quad) so it would be between the sci-fi and the stealth. between those 2 i don't think you can go wrong honestly. I will say the sci-fi has been a huge hit with EVERYONE that has bought one from the shop. The tail is so unique that it surfs a little different then other boards with similar dimensions. That being said the stealth will also work really well in the conditions you are surfing also so once again i don't think you can go wrong, both are great boards that ride amazing with quad setups
Sunrise Surf Shop thanks for your help and time I just picked up a 5'7 sci fi and it feels sick. I'll let you know how it rides keep up the awesome work can't wait for the next review
You say you want to try the board with a Large Performer fin. Won't the board be to stiff, since you weight is only 160 lbs? I ask this because I surf a Chilli rare bird 6'1 with the performer medium (I'm 170 lbs) and I was thinking of getting the large version for more hold in steeper waves. Do you think I will notice the difference?
yes you will for sure. I have mentioned before i prefer larger fins in general and i have ridden this board with the large performers since filming and i did like it a little better. Honestly the best mix would be the large performers on sides and a medium performer in the middle. hope that helps!
Great surfing and a great review series! Definitely great seeing you actually surfing the boards you're reviewing!
thank you!! we really appreciate you tuning in and watching them, we will do our best to keep it going

Hi Sunrise !!! have you managed to try the Baby buggy with the roundtail + 4 channels ?

Thanks for taking the time mate! Great response and gives me confidence in my selection of the carbon wrap!
no problem! Thanks again for tuning in!
Can you do bb2?

Awesome! Keep me posted on how it goes for sure, thanks again for watching, glad i could help!
Brian Eno ma man!!
Would you choose the sampler, baby buggy, or sci fi for our average surf?
Baby buggy or Sci-Fi for sure!! between those 2 you can't go wrong, hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Hi, may I ask what your weight is and the dimensions of the board are?
I am 5'10 and 160 lbs. The board is stock dimensions for a 5'8. It's 19.25 and 2.32 with 27.10 CL. Thanks for tuning in!
