- What’s the best shoe for doing Crossfit Open Workout 21.1? Between the Nano X1’s, NoBull’s, Metcon 6’s, Fuse and GoRuck’s, my pick is going to be the GoRuck’s.

Here’s why: Based on my experience with wall walks, going up is fairly easy, coming down is different. Now with the movement standards requiring you to have your hands on your shoulder tape line before your feet come down means you’re stuck in an awkward pike shape for a split second.
This is the moment on the wall walk where I found my shoes having a difference. There’s three things:
First of all, shoes with a loose toe cap are terrible at this moment because not only are you fighting to stay on the wall, you’re trying to stop your foot from moving about. The shoes that performed the worse was the Nano X1 with it’s complete lack of structure around the toe cap. The fuse was a little better.
The shoes that performed well in this regard was the NoBull, Metcon6 and GoRuck. If I had to choose, the Metcon6 and GoRuck over the NoBull because the toe area on the NoBull’s were a bit too loose so you’re still fighting a bit when you’re coming down.
Second thing is the size of the outsole coming over the toe tip. The bigger it was the, easier it was to dig my toe into the wall. The Puma Fuse and GoRucks had the largest piece of outsole. The Nano X1’s and Metcon 6’s were decent and the other shoes where just BullSh~t.
The last thing I noticed was the rigidity of the sole of the shoe. I didn’t think it would matter, I actually thought having a soft soled shoe would matter but the rigidity of the GoRuck gave a bit of feedback so when I was pushing into the ground, the shoes were pushing the wall and the entire movement just felt a little easier.
Now as I said before, the GoRucks were the best. The Fuse and Metcon 6’s were decent as well and out of those three shoes, for DU’s, the Fuse has a a much softer insole so that may save your feet. The GoRucks and Metcon6’s felt very similar in terms of cushioning but because the sole of the GoRuck is much stiffer, it’s going to help your DU’s by a handful. The mechanics would be similar to the really stiff insoles on the Victory gear
Good review. I feel alot better on my GoRuck Ballistic trainers. Almost went with NoBulls.
Still stand by the GoRucks?
