That Friday night “Who Shot J. R.”, was the night before my Wedding. We had our rehearsal dinner at our apartment. Everyone wanted to watch Dallas. We took our television upstairs, it was a large room; and everyone watched Who Shot J R, that’s what we ended up calling our party. The date 11/21/1980.

I recall the very 1st time I ever laid eyes on Dallas and JR.....It was 1978 and our gig was cancelled due to being double booked, so I got home right after 10pm and sat down next to my wife on the couch. It didn't take long for me to ask her, "Who in the heck is that guy?" My wife said "JR Ewing". After about 5 minutes watching, my next question was "What freakin' show is this?" "Dallas", she said without a blink....and the rest is history as I never again booked the band on Friday nights again, and have seen every episode, every movie, every re-boot and spinoff. Just waiting on the next one now.

As wonderful a woman and an actress as Donna was, having anyone else play Miss Ellie was just too much of an obstacle to overcome. Howard Keel was a good addition to the show. Great and charming actor. It's very sad that they weren't respected properly.

I just meant in general when it comes to tv shows or movies. Marlon Brando was said to be a huge pain in the ass and for some he was and for others he wasn't. But well you get my point I'm sure

I was on a bus about 2003, Denver to Dallas. As we passed the Rockies someone started singing Rocky mountain High. At one point the driver said we'll be in Amarillo by Morning, I said I'm from San Antone. As we saw the Dallas skyline someone started whistling the theme to Dallas.
In my family I used to think that my Uncle was like JR, I was like Bobby and my brother was like Gary. Turns out my brother is like Bobby and I'm more like Gary....

Much as I love this show, they need to let the reboot idea go...
They tried it, it could never last without Larry Hagman's epic character JR and so we move on.
It's a legendary show which will remain globally iconic. I know residuals don't fully pay the bills, but that achievement should be enough for its stars.

I'm 55 and just started watching it now and the first episode JR was ruthless,
Some of that writing was also pretty amazing, But I guess that's Larrys acting,
I'm getting a little sad going back to when Life was actually fun.

The last reboot of Dallas was a smash hit until Larry Hagman passed away. Then the ratings gradually went down resulting in it being cancelled after 3 seasons.

    • @Newman-yo5xf

wrong, they had 4 million viewers after Larry. TNT executives didnt like the show was the reason
