This has to be one of the best videos on setting up the printer the first time. I have been looking at the brown box that mine is sitting in for months because all of the other videos scared me off, made me question my purchase. Thank you very much for taking the time to document this process.
Thanks! I was doing it all wrong! I was having issues with Z-offset and leveling, and I now realize that I have to move the BED, and not the nozzle! I also have an Ender 3 V3 SE, and with that, you have to move the nozzle. It also has auto-leveling. Sure, an Ender 3 V2 is older, but it still functions, just differently! Thanks a LOT!
Like others have stated, an incredible helpful and informative video! I watched the intro, then skipped to the belt adjustments and NO OTHER VIDEO I have seen so far talks about this. Thanks already man!!!!
This was such an incredibly helpful video. Thank you for the clear, accessible instructions! We had been struggling for two days to make a successful first print, and this video finally showed us everything we needed to know. We really appreciate it!
I'm not even 10 minutes into the video and I've already learned a lot! I don't own my Ender 3 v2 yet, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can until I can save enough to buy it. Thank you for this amazing video! You earned a sub!
I'm in the process of learning, and purchasing, my first 3D printer. In the first 4 minutes of your video I've learned a few new things that no one else addressed. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! I just stumble across your channel after acquiring a Creality Ender Pro 3. I am amazed at what you can do. As a former R/C model enthusiast I can appreciate how much 3D printing can offer. I can't wait to explore more of your channel. Thanks for sharing.
I dont know what to say except EXCELLENT for us who dont know nothing about 3d (Begginer, i just want to print airplanes and subs from thingverse and convert them to RC). After many days looking for something useful "how to" for begginers this is what i need, you answered most of my questions and the best thing is you explain just what i need -from stl file to print-. Thank You.
Thank you so much for this video! This is the best walkthrough video I have ever seen in regards to this printer. My son saved up and got his very own and we put it together yesterday and tried to print but did not get the filament to stick to the plate. He had already seen your videos when he was researching the printers and kept talking about the glue stick. Today we tried the glue stick after cleaning the plate well with the alcohol and his first project is now successfully printing!
Thank you for your video. I've just bought a ender 3v2 myself. After bed leveling, i still couldn't get a smooth print and blamed the "weak springs" etc. You showed me that it's possible to get the best results even at stock with the right settings. Subscribed to you now :)
As a complete beginner to 3D printing I have to thank you a lot for this video! But I still don’t have a clue on the settings on Cura. Could you maybe make a separate video on the settings and what exactly they do? That would really help me a lot!
Agreed. Complete beginner to filament printing as well and normally use Chitubox for my resin printing. There must be a setting for showing more items in Print Settings as I didn't have most of the ones mentioned.
I don't usually comment on videos but I feel the need to thank you. I thought it would take me days to figure out how to put the 3D printer together, but this video made it take only an hour and a half.
13:30 ok so when I do that, the temperature goes up to 180 and then it tells me the extruder temperature's too low, and I can't do anything about that screen so I have to turn it off and on again, during which it drops 30-50 degrees and I can't print anything. so what do i do then? edit: since i was using this for a single project, the memory is hazy but i did fix this, there's usually a switch that lets you change the voltage, and it should work better. if i remember correctly.
Thank you so much for this video! My son and I are getting into 3D printing and decided on this model. Your video was so detailed I even sent it to my Dad who is also an engineer. We were all very impressed and are so excited to start!
Ordered my Ender 3 V2 yesterday, no experience with 3D printing at all. I am super excited to get started and build some cool stuff. This video helps a lot! Thanks.
I’m doing the exact same 3-D printer model for Christmas and so I’ve just been watching as many videos as I can to see what I can do with my new 3-D printer when I get it and I have a different version than you have I have a newer one, and it doesn’t let me do all the tiny little details for the settings

download "CHEP BED LEVEL TEST PRINT" basically a series of concentric square lines around the bed and slice it to print. As it's printing, follow behind with your finger sliding crossways over the freshly laid down filament. with gentle pressure, you shouldn't be able to make the fresh filament move (bad adhesion if it moves from gentle sideways finger pressure, likely due to slicer setting or bed leveling being too high to stick it down). It also should feel consistent thickness around the square. Your finger is plenty sensitive to detect this. adjust each knob until you get that consistent nice thickness all around. DONE. For your slicer settings, keep line height 75% or less of nozzle. So .4mm nozzle, max .3mm height. HOWEVER, for line width, always SQUISH at least the first layer out WIDER THAN THE NOZZLE, up to a max of 150% of nozzle (so, .4mm nozzle, max .6mm line width). This ensures the nozzle has to PRESS DOWN and squash the line out wider getting good adhesion. Settings like that, and the finger test above should be all you need, though you can occasionally buy some crappy filament that sticks worse than John Wayne toilet paper... Also consider .6 nozzle upgrade. fewer clogs, faster prints, and barely detectable difference, th-cam.com/video/WgXM2zPusXo/w-d-xo.html Lastly, look into CHEP profile for Ultrafast prints...
Gday, thanks for explaining all this, im looking at getting my first 3d printer which will be the ender 3 v2, your video has been the best I’ve seen, thanks again mate, cheers
Great video, I learned a lot. For the complete setup on an Ender 3 V2 Creality actually has a really good video. Last night I was able to get mine put together, leveled and printing pretty easily. Only thing they didnt make clear is to snug all four of the leveling handles before trying to level the bed
That savage bobber is one awesome looking plane. I haven't had an interest in model planes since I was a kid and I think I just had that interest reignited. I'm saving this video.
Great video just right for RC guys. A friend has just bought an Ender 3 and I'm sending him this video link. He's new to 3d printing so this will be invaluable to him. I think your eagle made him finally purchase one. Great channel.👍👍👍
How do I know what temperature it should be? And also how much does it cost for a print by itself? I need to know because im getting a 3D printer to save money by printing it instead of buying it
The glass bed on mine seems to be warped and lower in the middle so it won't level over the whole surface. I found that the print head will hit those clips when put in the center. Also, the filament won't stick to the bed even if I put glue on it! Finally solved the problem by turning the glass bed over.
Also, I've been looking for a video that just does this very thing. Beginning to end without a lot of filler and review of Whatever item they're looking at. Thank you so much. My Sapphire plus came and it was bent all over to Smithereens like an elephant sat on the package. We're waiting for another one. My son and I are really looking forward to printing. I'm considering getting him a little Ender 3 so he has one as well. Great video.
Oh man, I am sorry to hear that! The Ender 3 would be a great supplement to the Sapphire, just a good side printer. I hope your next printer gets there soon and without damage.
Hello, I also use an ender. It stays in auto home. The nozzle now presses on the bed. I know you can tell with the z ax switch, but that doesn't work now! There is no reset either???
I just set up my printer nd this video really REALLY made things clearer for me. I still need to learn the differences in the settings you were using but all in good time.
this is the only video claiming you need bed adhesive that i have seen, i am 2 prints deep and havnt used and was fine, i thought thats why it heats the bed? is this something actually worth worrying about or just a more general tip
This was very entertaining and inspiring! Thank you for sharing this with us! You know what's really wild-- you look a lot like my grandfather when he was your age, and one of the hobbies he loved was... building model airplanes as well!
Just bought this printer because I was tired of buy TPU parts for our 5" racing drones. Didn't realize it was going to be this challenging. Now I know why they charge so much for these parts. Thanks for the video, I am learning a lot.

I have my ender 3 v2 unassisted right now, but I have a run-out sensor coming. Can I assemble it first time with the sensor? If so how do I make that mod during this step? Thanks
Im going to purchase a creality 3 3d printer becauces im on a tight budget, so would i be able to start with that and would i be able to do the same ,and I've download files to use ,can i use the lw-pla for the hole plane such as the for the cub ?
Thank you so much! Very helpful! I restarted my print a couple of times because it wouldn't stick. I'm going to try some hairspray and add a skirt to check my bed leveling! Great job!
Thank You Troy, this was very informative, detailed and helpful video. There are a ton of printer settings and obviously you can't show them all but, is there a video or booklet where one could learn more about the Ender 3 Pro 3D printer settings; what they do in particular? I'm a home owner, well the wife is the owner I just take up space here, and I've got quite a long honey-do list. I'm working a set of hanging lights and I found one of the pieces I need to create it is not manufactured on its own so... I've printed 10 so far and each one has improved a bit but I can tell itsagonna take a long time to get it right; and at this rate I don't think I'll be around to see it.
Is it possible to upgrade my V2 to reach 300deg tempt? I would like to use high tempt filament. Please list the thing I need, if it is possible. Thanks!
Anycubix Mega X prints 12" by 12" by 12". $200 delivered, or $109 as an "unrepair" on Ebay; a printer returned by someone who decided "no" after opening the box...
After buying an Ender 3 V2 like a year ago, half-building it after delivery, then throwing it in my closet...I finally finished putting it together a few hours ago! It took some troubleshooting to fix some crashing my sloppy assembly caused (had a motor plug inserted where the extruder plug should have been and vice versa) and finally, finally, I was ready! I was to print...a kitty cat. So I loaded up the file, more minor troubleshooting getting the filament to feed...then...it fed! But...but...the filament is just dragging itself all over the place. I've tried turning up the filament temp +30% or so - same with the plate temperature. I keep increasing it after its apparent it's not yet working. It's getting better, but I'm looking at what is supposed to be a cat and it's still a vaguely layered stack of spaghetti getting pulled to and fro. =( Is spraying hairspray or something else on the plate quite necessary? I don't have any in my house and its at night. The only non-cleaner I have in a spray can is Remington gun oil Dx. Despite this setback I'm super excited to try 3D printing, I've never done it before and it looks like a lot of fun.
I just bought my first printer. Creality 3 v2. I haven’t even gotten into the computer files yet. Just printed test print from what was preloaded. The test failed. First one was going good then the object moved on the bed. Bed is set at 60°C but it’s not hot. Very warm but I can put my hand on it. Is that normal? Would the hair spray trick work for that?
60C will burn your skin in about 20 seconds so easy to confirm. You had it release most likely from a bad bed level, or cheap filament. download a "CHEP BED TEST PRINT" that prints simple concentric squares on your printer. Slice it and start the print. You should be able to follow the print head around the perimeter as it prints and gently sliding a finder crossways over the fresh filament laid down, it should not move, and should feel consistently thick all around the square. If not, adjust the bed level knobs to get it so. Also, on a .4mm nozzle, you slicer setting should lay down the first layer at something like .2mm thick, and .5 or even .6mm WIDTH. Never print line thickness greater then 75% of nozzle diameter (so .3 on a .4 nozzle), but ALWAYS lay down a first layer that is WIDER THAN NOZZLE (.5 or .6 on a .4 nozzle). That way it SQUASHES it into the bed to get the width which also maximizes adhesion. Properly set up, glass print beds with the "dot pattern" need nothing added, no hair spray or other gunk, just proper adjustment. Make sure you started in midpoint of the recommended filament temp range, most likely printed on the spool of the filament.
I got lost between downloading the Thingiverse file and getting it into Cura. Then totally lost at settings. Probably going to have to watch this a few hundred times to get it...or go take a class somewhere LOL. We just got our Ender 3 S1 Pro and I haven't had a turn on it ... yet. The two men in the house have it completely tied up!
watch all the videos until none of the words are a mystery any more. Start with CHEP and then CNC KITCHEN, look for the topics you're interested in, but they are the pros.
Hi very much interesting May I ask you a doubt Cura specification given by you for different websites can we apply the same for 3d lab print stl files Kindly clear mine, And what about slicing is it be needed for 3d lab planes if we are using ender3v2

Thank you! A friend just sent a Ender 3 V2 to me. Very helpful!
Troy, Thanks for your passion! Your videos have been extremely helpful. You have saved me hours of fine tuning my printer for 3D planes!!!
I am so glad I could help!!
@@TroyMcMillan- What is normal percent For X, Y and Z ?
Awesome video, I just started my first ever print! Time to learn
I'm going to buy that or maybe some other 3D printer. Thank you very much for your time!
Thank you I'm new to 3d printing
How much and how is one that will print larger parts like say as big as a fuel tank on a motorcycle tank, truck dash, or like a gun stock???
Anycubix Mega X prints 12" by 12" by 12". $200 delivered, or $109 as an "unrepair" on Ebay; a printer returned by someone who decided "no" after opening the box...
The more I'm watching these tutorial videos, the more I'm excited to get my first 3d printer!
Is spraying hairspray or something else on the plate quite necessary? I don't have any in my house and its at night. The only non-cleaner I have in a spray can is Remington gun oil Dx. Despite this setback I'm super excited to try 3D printing, I've never done it before and it looks like a lot of fun.
Thank you!!!!!!! Very informative!
Everything keeps saving as a zip off thingaveerse?? No way to change this?
Make sure you started in midpoint of the recommended filament temp range, most likely printed on the spool of the filament.
just purchased thanks for the video!
Wow!, thank you ! Very clear !
Many thanks for sharing these advanced techniques!
I hope it helps! :)
Hi very much interesting
May I ask you a doubt
Cura specification given by you for different websites can we apply the same for 3d lab print stl files Kindly clear mine, And what about slicing is it be needed for 3d lab planes if we are using ender3v2
doesn't hairspray and heat create explosion???
This was incredibly helpful. You've helped me get my first print going!
I'm so happy I could help :)
I would love to get one but worried about the smell in the house and is it bad for kids to breath this stuff in while its printing
Depends on the material
@@vladgrigorenco6506 I love that this comment came a year later. because last month i bought the a1 and I have been printing non stop hahah
