Jerry Nowak, Musical Director of the Delaware Valley Wind Symphony, conducting his holiday medley arrangement, "A Christmas Portrait" (Hal Leonard, 1983) in Yardley PA, on December 13, 2008.
This man has touched so many people and will live in their memory forever. I was so fortunate to have learnet from and worked with this wonderful human being. He always said knowledge was to be shared which is exactly what he did.
I've never worked with him, but what you say seems true from this video. Seems like a lovely man, clear conductor, and he knew exactly which musicians needed to stand because of a solo/soli...like he really knew the group as individuals. That is something to respect, and you don't always get that from a conductor.
Were doing a full thing here.Band Chorus and Orchestra. Orchestra teacher: HEY BAND! Orchestra... BE QUIET!Band students: this is 100 times harder now! UGH! Orchestra students: so hard to play softer and keep up with the speed! UGH! Chorus teacher: LOUDER! LOUDER!! LOUDER!!! Chorus students: HUFF PUFF!!! LAAA LAAAAA LLAAAAAAAA! AHHHHHHHH! MY THROAT! PLEASE STOP!!! Band teacher: Good job wooodwinds! Just a tiny bit quieter. Ok? Thanks. Woodwind people: of course we need to be quieter. We are right next to the chorus of course we need to play quieter! UGH! After the song EVERBODY: THANK GOD ITS OVER. WE NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS STUPID SONG AGAIN! The End.😐

This is wonderful! What a brilliant conductor!!
Jerry might look bored, but he is not. He is just very reserved. Nice man, and I have rarely seen him lose his temper. Actually, never.

Oh My God.... how bored does Jerry Nowak look? If he can't be bothered why should the students?
