Such a touching song. I cry every time I listen to it. I'll be 60 next year and I'm so aware of how time is passing right before my eyes. First it was watching my children grow and now my grandchildren are almost grown. I'm reminded of all the time I wasted on things that were not important in the end and I'm reminded to make the most of the time I have left with my family that means so very much to me. One of my favorite songs.
I am 63 and understand , feel the same way. Raising a family keeps us very busy ,before we know it , the last chapter comes all too soon.

There’s so much built up anger that is justified. Like you are not wrong for feeling that anger but he’s saying “it’s not worth it” because you only have a lifetime. So free yourself from it. ❤️

the fact that this whole video is one continuous shot means so much. i’m not sure if that was the intent, yet it just shows the concept of time and how valuable it is. everything follows a sequence yet comes to an end quicker than expected.

That was the part that did it for me! That exact part! My daughter’s friend just lost her husband… and he was the same age my brother was when my brother passed away… really hit me hard! I didn’t even know who Finneas WAS until last night and this song just popped up in my feed! Helped me sort out so many of my feelings and emotions! Lovely lyrics… true to life! Every life is a gift! Every day we have is a beautiful gift! And so precious! I want to remember that and not waste any day, any minute and remember to do better at showing my love to my family members, every day, and not waste even 1 day!

The line "It’s not worth the anger you felt as a child." really hits home. Finn and I are the same age. I kinda envy people like him having a loving family. But, then again, it's not worth wasting your time being mad about the past. Only got one life. Got to move on. Not living in the past.

I always listen to this song on repeat in October. I first heard it off the Optimist album while my grandma was undergoing heart surgery. Unfortunately, it wasn’t successful. Despite it all, this song helped me to fall asleep at night and live my life the best way I can. Cherish your loved ones guys. They won’t always be here.

He also messaged me PERSONALLY when Billie wasn’t BILLIE! I had messaged him on messenger years ago asking “how and when to show up to their concert in a venue of 200 people, where to meet Billie as she would perhaps come off her tour bus.
I had purchased tickets to their concert for my daughters 16th birthday surprise party. My daughter and Billie are the same age and two weeks apart.
Finneas had messaged me back personally and did something even better! He gave us meet and greet passes to meet Billie! It was AMAZING and seeing my daughter open her gift was tear jerking! I’ll never forget that day!
Also got to sit in the VIP section watching the show and opening with Finneas singing sitting right next to Maggie, Billies mom! We talked the whole time and got to take a picture with Maggie!
2018 was a good year for Billie, but we have been fans EVEN BEFORE Billie and finneas were huge!

At first,it was hard to explain why but then as I held myself to it for longer time and I discoverd that everything in it maked sense to me in my life,beaty of life,the sadness,the pain,how everything blended in my mind and I also realised that your music makes me happier and more thoughtfull. Last month, in July, I took a vacation trip that changed my life forever. It was the first time I left my country, and I visited London, which is a place I always dreamed of going.
I went with my boyfriend, and there we got engaged. We enjoyed it as if we were living there, since he went to study too.
But in the middle of the trip, I lost my grandmother. I had seen her a month before, but during the pandemic, she had a serious worsening of Alzheimer's and also a mild stroke, which made her gradually deteriorate over the last few years, without us being able to visit her properly (fuck covid).
I always missed her, how she was when I was little, and our afternoon teas. Losing her being on another continent, far from my family, and with no way to go back to the wake (due to money and travel time too) ended me. I stayed practically the whole day in bed, and I have to say that I'm very lucky to have had so much support from my fiance and the friendships I've made just a week before.
Over time, there I ended up distracting myself, but coming home and not being able to visit her has made me extremely sad.
As much as she wasn't the same anymore, I still loved going to see her, and laughing at the repeated words, and showing her photos. I wish I'd had time to tell her I got engaged.
Hearing this song now, especially the second verse, warmed my heart. Covid has already made me waste too much time, and I promised myself that I would not let that happen anymore, and I would enjoy the time I have with the ones I love.

"I'm unprepared for my loved ones to be gone..." This line hit my heart hard. I lost my Dad a year ago and am grateful I spent every chance I had to fly out and see him whenever I could and we would talk on the phone every Wednesday. When he passed travel restrictions were in place and I couldn't leave the state to attend his funeral. I don't know how many times I've picked up my phone to call him for our "just because" calls, or his birthday, or even on holidays. I never got to say goodbye.
Your songs are so emotionally charged. I hope this reaches out to someone who needs to hear this message because life is too short and we never know what the next day brings.

Beautiful song, impeccably produced and mixed. Read that Billie and Fineas were home schooled so they could explore their creative sides. You can see that their bond is really strong. A great thing to hope and aim for.

She suffered greatly in the last years of her life. Massive headaches, neuropathy from the chemo, the list goes on.
