As a family, we took care of one of the Dutch U19’s at our house. Friends looked after two of the boys. They were training in the national park and took the time to call into southern cross cycling club to stop and chat to the little kids that ride on Sunday morning Nice boys, when the elites and U23s arrived, the U19 boys went to Novotel to join them. I would be surprised if those two girls hadn’t learned who Matthieu was and thought it was funny When they got a reaction they then cry ‘foul’ play. And the Cops then rise to it! Shame on Novotel also. Ridiculous. I imagine we will never see MVDP on these shores ever again U23 ladies should totally have their own race. Hard to believe they didn’t!
Thoughts on the worlds: I travelled down from Brisbane but know Wollongong well since I have lived there in total for about 7 years. The buzz around the town was amazing, especially on the Saturday and Sunday. Plenty of cyclists out riding the coast road and surrounds in the mornings. Businesses getting behind it. Huge crowds for the elite races was great to see. Comments from locals were that they really got a bigger appreciation from cycling once they stood on the road and saw the speed and endurance of the riders. Ramah Avenue was incredible. The atmosphere was awesome. Huge support, costumes, noise, cheering, incredible. Probably the best sporting event atmosphere I’ve seen in Australia and it’s great that it was for cycling! Yes a few negative locals and abuse, but that’s an issue across the country and an issue that our politicians and media really need to address. Personally I rode the coast road on the Saturday morning and had no issues from any drivers or locals. Disagree on the cycling on the bridge and coast road… yes no shoulder in places but early morning it’s magic. The scenery and the rollercoaster of Lawrence Hargrave Drive is awesome. It’s where I started cycling and it was nice to visit and do it again after many years away. Mates from Brisbane who had never been to Wollongong really enjoyed it and loved the view from Bald Hill. The circuit worked really well from a spectator perspective. I think cycling got some new fans down there, and judging by the crowds and atmosphere I have to call it a success.
Funnily enough I actually found this channel as a result of the GCN video. As a relatively new cyclist (one year in) their content flooded my feed. I did like it at first and I guess I still like some of the stuff they put out but learned quickly that a large amount of it is the same content on a reproduction wheel and so I get bored very quickly. As someone who trains all year outdoors I use TrainerRoad coupled with my Wahoo, through that I found the TrainerRoad podcast which I find to be incredibly informative with really intricate deep dives. Ive come across Alex Dowsett and Francis Cade now and think my bubble is certainly growing but really want more of it. Glad I found this channel, love it, keep up the good work.
It's refreshing to hear someone talk about Hambini. I don't know anyone who likes bikes enough to have actually watched Hambini. I suspected that I was just hallucinating him. How could you explain him to someone? I can't discuss him with my wife. She'll have me arrested.
As a US citizen I'm very shocked by this anti-cycling vibe that seems to be pervasive in the UK and Australia. At least this is what TH-cam seems to portray. GCN did something on proposed bike use tax and they even seemed shocked by the anti-cycling sentiment from the "man on the street." I was wondering if you could discuss this in depth on your channel. I find this bizarre if true. I don't find this to be the case at all in the US. At least not where I live. Thanks, and really like the direction your channel has taken. Cheers!
In Spain it's the same. I think it happens in cultures where a) drivers have been spoiled into thinking that all public space belongs to them, and b) there are enough bicycle riders to pose an actual challenge. If both factors apply you get a very ugly reaction. Recently we had at least two car drivers running away after causing the death of cyclists. And idk if that made it to the news of other countries but Valverde himself was ran over by a driver last July while cycling with his friends. Luckily there was no real harm done, but the driver did it intentionally because they'd yelled at him for driving dangerously and he got angry. Not that he knew who Valverde was, just as the girls in that hotel didn't know who MVDP was...
Used to call it “ding dong ditching” no matter if there was a doorbell or just knocking 😂. hearing these stories make me want to be a kid again. really been enjoying the podcast lately, cheers fellas.
Great video once again guys, with some nice inside information and context around MvDP and the worlds. (and I have shared this on a few forums I am on) You make a comment early on about being criticised for being overly negative. As a long term follower I want to provide feedback in that regard but also don't want to appear as being overly critical myself, as I know it is early days for this podcast style series you are doing. I will say, there does seem to be a reasonable amount of negativity in some episodes and in this one (I have not watched all of it yet, still can't believe Chris had not come across Hambini (what rock have you been living under I say laughing!)). I thought the worlds were great, and I have had people from overseas express how great they were as well and how exciting the racing was and that it was one of the best worlds ever. I know for the pointy end of the cycling community having a winner for the mens race get a 1:30-2 min gap on the field was maybe less exciting, but it was a great week of racing, full of some surprises, some grit (women road race winner with a "broken" elbow), some shit (why does U23 women's not have their own race), but awesome support for the major weekends (ie ITT and road races). As someone watching it did seem like Chris having a big whinge!! And this is not consistent with your normal style of videos Chris. I think it does you a bit of a disservice, and I take the time to provide this feedback as I have watched you from the early days and have always really respected your content and your riding! (yes I watch too much TH-cam, just ask my wife)
Hambini's videos have helped me make some really good decisions. He and Peak Torque have a unique technical perspective. I still watch some GCN videos but after they got bought out by Discovery they became less compelling. Frances Cade is a really good story teller. His occasional epic voyages, e.g., in Vietnam, are really good. I like Dylan Johnson a lot. I teach at a medical school, I like his evidence-based aporoach. You guys should do one with him. I do tend to prefer shorter formats.
We need more vids of you two guys together! It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on Remco’s choice of shallow 33mm rims for his World’s winning bike. Considering that he is a solo break specialist, I would think that 50ish mm rims would be a better choice, dispute the hills. Is it the crosswinds?
As someone who got into cycling 2 years ago and quickly got addicted to it, it's mind-blowing that Chris had not heard of Hambini or Berm Peak. On the off-chance that he might not know some of them, here are some of my favourite cycling youtube channels: Vloggy/racing/bike review content : Tristantakevideo (15k), Jasper Verkuijl (87k), Cam Nicholls (145k) Mechanical, bike building stuff : Rides of Japan (85k), Trace Velo (80k) The Col Collective (58k) - a mostly dormant channel, but has beautifully shot videos of some of the iconic climbs Tour de Tietema (150k) - unfortunately mostly in Dutch, but very fun Rides of Japan in particular has some of the best editing on youtube, and really makes his niche content interesting. And he is quite funny.
Can't agree Jesse - as a person who lives in Wollongong, the riding here shat's all over Sydney. And in Sydney I've lived the Hills, City and Shire. For starters there's less traffic around. Maybe if you want to do the coast road up to Stanwell Tops including the Seacliff Bridge, as a big bunch, it might get hectic, but by yourself, it's never a problem. So many options down here, hills, punchy rides, flats, long options down to Kiama and Mac Pass.
Even as an amateur racer, it sucks when you arrive at the hotel day before the major A race of your season, only to find the walls are paper thin, and there's a party going on next door. The anxiety and pressure as you try to get to sleep despite the noise. Anger, frustration, race day ruined due to lack of sleep. If confronting those people directly, obviously you're going to be angry and upset. With a calm head behind the keyboard its easy to say that MVDP should've complained to the hotel and got the teenagers removed / sent away. In the spur of the moment he wants to resolve it as quickly as possible to get some shut eye! Ironically challenging them to call police and how it escalated into prolonging his nightmare with the arrest and the procedures around. The Dutch cycling federation is pretty dumb to book (or agree to stay in) a hotel in a dodgy neighborhood too, that also shows bad planning on their side. Especially if the area is renowned for partying area. Not sure about in Australia, but if i'm caught playing knock and run, or if i get into some aggro from a home owner during a knock & run game...then it's fair game what happens next - because could be breaching some private property laws, some disturbing of the peace act, if its at 2am after some hotel admin rules about curfew, all the same.. the knock & runners are in the wrong in the first place. MVDP's reaction wasn't ideal, but understandable given his circumstances.
DAFAQ...??? we used to sleep in vars, vans, camp...etc... "men" have become soft. It's fair game to if I see a "man" assaulting young girls for what ever reason, especially a man who can't bench press 100lbs. MVDP is a millionaire he can find his own lodging. WTF is he doing sucking off the teet of the Netherlands taxpayers.
World champs course looked good for me. The problem I found was there was a lot of action going on behind Remco and they didn't cover it. They started a video of him after the finish while things were going wild in the race for 2nd!!! They killed the only crescendo available!
fully agree that there is plenty of overreach in Australia. Definitely embarrassing, for the Dutch Cycling body, the hotel and most particularly, for the NSW police force.
@@getstrongaf embarrassing that the parents, the ones who should supervising, are the ones taking video of the crime and further taunting with the actual call to the police in the video. Sick sick society there in Oz.
You are so very right about Wollongong and good on you for telling it like it is ... nightmare to ride around. Looked great on TV but the last place in Oz you would go to ride a bike. Our best ride in the week was the shared path along the northern beaches ... until you pop out onto the road! Still, great atmosphere and enjoyable week. It's just an old city not remotely meant for cycling.
So true about creators, viewers complain about "clickbait" titles but you need to do it to reach new poeple. It is hard work and a slog. I am sure YT throttles small creators and pushes big channels as i keep seeing YT shows the same content daily, but far less on smaller channels.
Due to time differences, almost nobody watched the worlds here in Europe - nobody watches cycling before breakfast. Nobody watches highlights packages when they already know the result. So tourism NSW will really have got minimal return from this.
I flew over from New Zealand and was staying in Moss Vale with family, and the Italian & Great British squads were staying in the same accommodation just outside of Bowral. They had the same thought process as the Dutch, according to people I spoke with at the hotel (went and had a nosey with my cousin): they booked accommodation well outside of Wollongong, over a year in advance, just in case Wollongong had a COVID super spreader event. They wanted to be well away from the epicentre if cases started popping up. I really felt for the mechanics & swannies: they shut down the hotel bar for the entire week. That's what I call punishment, although I did see an Italian staffer playing Edward Pinot-hands walking down one of the corridors carrying a case-full of loose bottles of wine when I swung by there, so they found a way haha.
Good chat today guys. On the tire topic, as a Jr racing national level in the late 90’s it was ‘fairly’ common place to run Tubulars typically Corsa CX, Conti Sprinters or Clement Criteriums etc and those were around $80-120 each back then from memory. So considering this, the performance/$$ ratio now is significantly better. It’s not cheap, but you pay for performance and the boots have always made a massive difference, it’s really free speed if able to find it.
Just for info I wasn’t searching for GCN - your thumbnail was suggested to me and I clicked on it because the cancelled thing interested me. Great content, glad I clicked it and have subscribed. BTW in the UK we call ‘knock and run’, ‘knock out ginger’
This was great. Both content and the way it was presented. Would have been interesting to see your Australian vision on the WC and MvdP in the Netherlands.
Went up to 'gong. Got abused by several drivers and one come past again to throw an orange at me. Was riding single file with my Dad. And I really enjoyed The Least Expected Day, espesh the latest series.
So I found your channel because of GCN ;), but for me it was a bit of fun, and to be fair a lot of points were valid but I'll stil watch GCN. Since your chat was good and I'm always looking for good cycling content I'm now happy to get your videos into my feed. BTW I'd never heard of Hambini either and all I pretty much watch on TH-cam is cycling videos...
Yes, for those of us living in relatively moderate climates, it's "difficult" to take extended breaks, even in the middle of Melbourne's Winters. I usually try to have a couple of one-week breaks in July or August
The Giro Vanquish is an awesome helmet. The strap adjustability can't be understated. Specialized has much more limited adjustability for fitment. Can't get much more aero with the magnetic visor on. Decently priced, decent weight.
Interesting chat about TH-cam bubbles. Your channel is literally up my alley, and I only just found it. Strangely, it was because someone was hating on you for the gcn should be cancelled video and that sounded like what I wanted.
As to TH-cam, I’m shite, filming and editing but my mudguard vids come in handy this time of year😊 Hambini is a legend, you’ve missed so much😅 VdP well I feel the teams choice of hotel and distance away from the champs was a mistake and suspect he couldn’t care a toss about going back to Aussie land for 3 years or 10 for that. Shame because it completely fu… messed up his champ hopes. Good chat guys, needed to be more unbiased, also glad to hear the roads your ways are the same here in the UK, full of jerks🤫😊👍
Chris, great conversation and topics that you bring up. Lots and lots of cycling content out there just need to dig a little. Keep up the good work and ride on!
Probably not the most popular view here, but my vote is that they ditch the Under 23 category altogether. It's from two points of view: First - It's my opinion that this is a category that should be the bridge between juniors and the elite, and not an opportunity for someone to drop back down from the elite category so they could have a better chance at a win because they are either not good enough right now or perhaps their job role in the elite level doesn't offer many chances for individual achievement. Second - this trend of super young riders winning is only picking up. If this U23 category isn't utilized for what I have already stated my opinion is that it should be, then it's just another thing someone is going to have to pay for that lessens the attractiveness of the race as a whole. Either restrict this category to those who have yet to make the jump to elite level or just get rid of it.
Honestly Steve ... I think we are going that route. You are seeing Juniors singing WT contracts and the U23 category is becoming irrelevant with the top U23 guys/girls racing elite's anyway. Watch this space.
The Movistar documentaries are well worth the watch. I really don't understand why you guys are bashing it. Yeah it might not be to everyone's taste but for most people who are into cycling it is worth watching. Also think your last bash against GCN was over the top and exaggerated. I enjoyed GCN back when I first got into cycling, not so much anymore but to say they are rubbish is a joke and just pure clickbait. It has its demographics and that's fine. The MVDP saga just reminded us why Australia is on nobody's bucket list of travel destinations.
re You tube Algorythms. I found Chris a while ago when I was thinking of buying a Lazer aero helmet and he reviewed one. Lately you have popped up again in my search's and I really like this format
There is zero way that any bike tire should cost $100+. I can buy good car tires for less and I am 100% sure that they will last longer and provide better performance.
Funny that Chris mentions seeing old videos in the TH-cam recommendations and so decided to check what was in my feed, A few reasonably new SAFA Brian Decent Disciples videos and some 6 year old Maven videos & 7 year old OZ Cycle videos and the rest were old GCN videos and random car and engineering style videos which had no relevance.
Hey Chris, love the candid honest discussion, kudos man. You and Jesse are very knowledgeable and honestly I get more info listening to you guys about anything cycling than other major sources out there including GCN 😉. Keep up the great work 👍🙏
I've never heard of Hambini until he was mentioned on GCN, Cade, etc., and this was VERY recently. Everyone kept raving Hambini this Hambini that, and I never knew what they were talking about (I thought that maybe he was an actual cycling ENGINEER or something, the way he was spoken about). Same here Chris, NO; tic-toc, snapchat, twitter, crapbook, instagram, or any others besides you tube. 😉
Hambini is a bit over-the-top for me. Raoul Luescher is great though. I’d avoid Oz Cycle if you ever come across him. Got jailed for something horrific recently.
I think the main point here is that the women’s race was far more exciting than the men’s and is often the case; therefore women’s cycling should be given equal tv rights. I’ll be honest, the men’s race boring; the women’s was not. Maybe that’s because Remco was so dominant but I think it’s more than that. Women’s cycling is just as fun to watch and should be watched by serious cyclists, even men. Also, knock and run. What teenager hasn’t done it and deserved a push for it. IMO. Good show guys!
Quite funny listening to the chat on the YT algorithm and missing stuff as I only recently stumbled across your channel having been watching cycling vids for years. Couldn't agree more on the tyre chat, recently looking to buy a new pair and it's brutal, around £75 for a GP5000 TR 🤮 which, as of today, is probably worth a million Aussie dollars. Anyway, really enjoying your chats you're having, keep up the good stuff!
On the TH-cam Algorithm front I tend to change my tastes every 2 to 3 years so I change it up all the time. But I totally agree if your not like me you could never find more interesting You-tubers or just stay in the little bubble that you are in. I like searching for interesting topics and not just my hobbies that is the reason I change it up all the time. I am constantly wanting to learn about new things all the time. One constant Chris Miller and Jessie Coyle content. I find you guys very informative and with less fluff as most Cycling youtube creators. Even though I do watch most of them I cant really finish the majority of Videos, but I am watching a 47 min Chris Miller Sudo Podcast lol.
Hi Chris if it was my comment that got you to check out Hambini, my pleasure and if you were watching with your family, sorry as perhaps I should have included a caveat on the ‘colourfull’ language in some explanations! Appears too bloke in honesty and analysis though
When I initially get on the you tube home page, there is a list of general subject categories across the top. Click on cycling and I get at least 30 different cycling websites some of which I am familiar with but not all.
Hey Dan, yeh I watched them, the management certainly never got any better. In a way I felt watching the 3rd season they were almost leaning into the mis-management as their ‘thing’. Thanks for the comment.
Tires have always been a major factor in auto handling and performance. Perhaps the most important factor. And now economy (rolling resistance) plays heavily in them. Stands to reason the same applies to bikes and other wheeled vehicles. But yeah, bike tires are nuts now. I'll often snipe NOS vittorias off of eBay.
At the top of your TH-cam feed there are personalized categories you can choose. One of them is 'new to you' which recommends content you haven't seen before. This may help expand your content bubble 😊
Knock & Run - we did two versions as a kid. Knock & Run but at the same time try and set something up they would trip over when they chased us. Second version we called Rat a Tat Ginger - you stayed after knocking and tried to think of an excuse as to why you knocked the door......lol. Aero Helmet - Met Manta Movistar - Liked it. Level of incompetance in that team's DS / managers has me in stitches. Equally not aimed at serious cyclists as an education tool - its an entertainment program i think. You Tube - Francis Cade / Fernwee / Jasper Virkjil right up there as my top 3 channels. Short form media - hate it. Do not use it or watch it. Even avoid You Tube shorts - waste of time. Time off - been forced into it with a non cycling related injury this autumn. Cancelled my hire bike for Tenerife and not gonna road ride for 4 or 5 weeks. About midway through it now and really enjoying that break. Have done 2 gravel rides (total 60km) in 3 weeks now.
Chris Miller got into my bubble only a week or so ago but Hambini crashed into my bubble maybe as much as 2 years ago. Both Hambini and Peak Torque do great content with engineering backgrounds as well as being avid cyclists. When Hambini makes bottom brackets that get used on world tour bikes and now has a partnership with a major manufacturer it says a lot about his engineering quality. His language skills are somewhat akin to a 5yo with tourettes but he knows what he is on about and has the court settlements to back it up.
I feel the same about GCN, I liked the older videos, the how-to stuff, but I had to unsubscribe a few months ago. I just like good tech reviews and conversations from real riders. As an ex-bike mechanic, it's the shop talk I enjoy, and the part of my job that I miss. Thanks for video.
39km away from start line, don't forget finish line was also 30km away from start line. So not too different. Also, if he had planned to fly out on the Monday morning it was very close to the airport
Re. Specialized "Advantage" - In golf being tied to one manufacture is a disadvantage... because what are the chances of that one brand making everything well and perfect for that individual. So in cycling terms surely a team that can pick and choose gear from different manufactures/sponsors would have the greater advantage.
Bit harsh on the Wollongong riding!!! The car/cyclist thing is a world thing, the pros get it everywhere and I reckon have a thick skin. Heard kids throwing bottles on road at Thirroul. Scheduling was a problem🤷♂️, AFL grand final, NRL finals & Aus vs Allblacks on same weekend. The vibe was excellent on the course, big crowds for Aus on the pinch points from Helensburgh to city and around Keira, Ramah Ave was pumping, Dutch corner and Italian corners. The TV coverage didn’t do it justice.
Fantastic course. Chapeau Remco. So exciting for the crowd. Forget the tv coverage and experience the wonder that was Ramah St. Wollongong is no bike city but a set off point for cycling in the southern highlands at best.
I enjoyed the netflix doc... the editing could have definitely been better but i loved the drama but couldn't believe how poor the management was and what a nutt superman was... unreal!
1. Australian authorities to MVPD: when a man is down under, we keep him there! 2. MVDP is detained and quits WC = Arrested Development 3. If MVDP cries, trust me, it's NOT crocodile tears! 4. Novak Djokovic : I told him to stay away, but he said he is a fast rider! 5. If THAT is 'Common Assault', imagine 'Uncommon Assault' Wow! 6. Australia: we fined MVPD with guilt 6. Nederlands: we find MVDP with gilt
The hotel management called the cops? Instead of kicking this family out? Ok, no Novotel, Sofitel, Ibis etc. for me anymore :) And MVDP, get a security guard to stand in front of your door next time. He coulda done the knocking.
Nah, having it in the gong was appropriate though it was too centralised and they could have included more of the tougher climbs like Macquarie Pass or Saddleback.
The UCI helped pick the course and wanted it through suburban areas as the crowds look better on TV. This is why they didn’t do more Keira/Kembla loops or head up the pass. The atmosphere on Ramah and up Keira was amazing, so the UCI must be on to something.. Sydney closing roads would be a nightmare. In general Wollongong is a great place to ride. Decent length climbs within 5-10mins of the CBD with no cars. Also has access to Kiama and into the highlands/Kangaroo Valley for longer rides.
As I mentioned in another one of these quality content shows, I am a U.S. based racing roadie who while old, has been active on various cycling based social media for 10 years, and can not get out of the Australian based cycling bubble. Like I literally don't know who to check out in the US no matter how many times I view NORCAL Cycling. Weird, right?
Eritrea's Kit was the best, most bold and most ambitious! i can recommend the Furion 2.0, updated and very comfy, also very light i have gotten out the bubble and i follow most of the cycling vloggers: VC, Francis Cade, Hambini, Peak Torque etc.
Hey Linda, cheers for that. Yeh GCN was maybe a harsh title, but the reaction has been interesting. I'm really surprised there seems to be the underlying theme we can't even talk about their content.
Wollongong is a nice place but it is not a tourist destination therefore there is not that much hotel accommodation available, hence the reason why many of the teams had to stay so far away. It was even harder for both tourists and Australians not local to Wollongong to come in to participate as spectators, hence the mid-week events had poor attendance. It also seemed like the transport dept did not schedule additional trains etc between Sydney to Wollongong to ferry the additional people.
Amazing that you have never seen Hambini or Berm Peak:) Unsubscribed from Hambuni a whike back as his videos were too long and rambling and not entertaining. Just looked at his channel and seems they are a lot shorter now. He was actually a guest on GCN Tech in 2018 which is interesting. Seth on Berm Peak dies a great job but I don't do the type of riding he does.
I think you guys are a bit behind the 8 ball re U23 races. It’s been flogged to death this year. There is finally progress in that space. Plus, I’ve never heard that there is a lack of agressive racing in woman’s cycling. This year especially, the woman’s races are hands-down, far more exciting than the mens.
It's because Chris doesn't search for loud mouthed 5 year olds on TH-cam or Banging Hairdressers.
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂 Hambini rocks
Fancy seeing you here! 😂
@@dominicbritt mention him 3 times in succession and he will turn up. 🤣🤣🤣
I just had a wet dream Hambini!
Thanks for the kind words guys!
You create top quality and entertaining content, Francis. You deserve the love you get from Chris, Tyler (VC), and others. ❤

The whole MvdP case has blown out of proportion. It's insane.
MvdP should share his WHOOP-data, so everybody could see the "disturbance" trying to rest.
As a US citizen I'm very shocked by this anti-cycling vibe that seems to be pervasive in the UK and Australia. At least this is what TH-cam seems to portray. You guys are doing a great job! Becoming my morning coffee show. You need a podcast deal.
Get Hambini on your podcast he won't hold back.
Hambini is a piece of 💩, he says every frame and components are crap except for the ones he makes..........
Yeah. He’s awesome. I want to meet him one day.
I'm really enjoying the new show and where it is going, nice work!
Used to call it “ding dong ditching” no matter if there was a doorbell or just knocking 😂. hearing these stories make me want to be a kid again.
really been enjoying the podcast lately, cheers fellas.
Update from Catherine, she has corrected me and they called it "ding dong ditch".
Thanks Stephen
Great video once again guys, with some nice inside information and context around MvDP and the worlds. (and I have shared this on a few forums I am on)
You make a comment early on about being criticised for being overly negative.
The MVDP issue is an embarrassment to the Australian nanny state.
MVDP will never come back here, I wouldn’t.
Jay Vine to lead all Australian races from hence forth 😁
@Blake Callen, on the contrary, it enhances Australia's IMAGE as a Nanny State! Think about it. But yes, it is embarrassing!
On the off-chance that he might not know some of them, here are some of my favourite cycling youtube channels:
Vloggy/racing/bike review content : Tristantakevideo (15k), Jasper Verkuijl (87k), Cam Nicholls (145k)
Mechanical, bike building stuff : Rides of Japan (85k), Trace Velo (80k)
The Col Collective (58k) - a mostly dormant channel, but has beautifully shot videos of some of the iconic climbs
Tour de Tietema (150k) - unfortunately mostly in Dutch, but very fun
Rides of Japan in particular has some of the best editing on youtube, and really makes his niche content interesting. And he is quite funny.
Hambini is great and is Peak Torque. 2 engineers showing good and bad with cycling components.
Embarrassing for VDP. He shouldn't be handling someone else's kid.
Thanks Mick
Used to race on Clement Criterium Seta silk tubulars in the 70’s...VERY expensive but sounded great!
@@felixjackson2670 THIS!! There is nothing like the sound of a Seta Extra green label against the pavement!! 👍
I found your channel from a post on the GCN app. That's interesting I think. I'm a subscriber.
Just for info I wasn’t searching for GCN - your thumbnail was suggested to me and I clicked on it because the cancelled thing interested me. Great content, glad I clicked it and have subscribed. BTW in the UK we call ‘knock and run’, ‘knock out ginger’
Cheers Andy!
Love this..the honesty is just magic 🎩
evenepoel wearing red was definitely a flex, but the belgian team is also often referred to as the red devils. So it's both I guess
"Red Devils" I didn't know that. Cool info Seb, thanks
The Giro Vanquish is an awesome helmet. The strap adjustability can't be understated. Specialized has much more limited adjustability for fitment. Can't get much more aero with the magnetic visor on. Decently priced, decent weight.
Chris: "did you do knock and run when you were a kid?"
Jesse: "hell, I did one last week"
🤣
We live in the Truman Show.
Chris, great conversation and topics that you bring up. Lots and lots of cycling content out there just need to dig a little. Keep up the good work and ride on!
Thanks WGC #gobucks
Probably not the most popular view here, but my vote is that they ditch the Under 23 category altogether. It's from two points of view:
First - It's my opinion that this is a category that should be the bridge between juniors and the elite, and not an opportunity for someone to drop back down from the elite category so they could have a better chance at a win because they are either not good enough right now or perhaps their job role in the elite level doesn't offer many chances for individual achievement.
Btw, Hambini is the shit! Absolutely love his no holding back approach .... and i think he is amusing 😄
Chris, come on, the BEST kit at the World Championship HAS to be the Rainbow Jersey! It's what they all came for
Hey Chris, love the candid honest discussion, kudos man. You and Jesse are very knowledgeable and honestly I get more info listening to you guys about anything cycling than other major sources out there including GCN 😉. Keep up the great work 👍🙏
Thanks SJ 🙏🏻
Thanks Chris. Enjoyed this kind of podcast. Just nice play and listen while doing my after ride stretches.
"After Ride Stretches" ... Oh man, you just made me feel very lazy 😳
Worlds great success, fantastic from a viewing point of view , great for the Aussie to race on home soil
Loved the video, coverage of the world's was brilliant, and your comments are legit and on the level. Good discussion and general banter.. Big thanks.
mvdp - I hope it wasn't roid rage😀 "The Cycling Tattooist" is the best I've seen in terms of music, production, editing, slick. great content.
Welcome aboard Neil
I´m really enjoying this type of show
Hi there. This Video was recommended from the algorithm to me. Im a regular berm peak and hambini viewer.
YT algorithm works in mysterious ways. I found this video only because "Hambini" was in the title.
Haha!!! In a way it kind of proves our theory 😁
Hi Chris if it was my comment that got you to check out Hambini, my pleasure and if you were watching with your family, sorry as perhaps I should have included a caveat on the ‘colourfull’ language in some explanations! Appears too bloke in honesty and analysis though
I think it was David, thank you
When I initially get on the you tube home page, there is a list of general subject categories across the top. Click on cycling and I get at least 30 different cycling websites some of which I am familiar with but not all.
A knock and run is quite a polite gesture compared to the flaming paper bag we used to leave at front doors
Was there dog shit in it ?
Only just discovering Hambini???? Inconceivable!!!!!
Literally never appeared in my feed ... I'm actually kind of pissed it hasn't.
On the Movistar thing, did you guys not watch S1 and S2? Rinse and repeat every year. Never learn, never change.
Episode 7 popped up in my feed, after watching that one, of course I start from the episode 1 and binge through. The show is just really interesting.
Love these episodes. Bravo guys.
Thanks Michael
Hambini, Peak Torque and Luescher Are great for engineers who like bikes.
At the top of your TH-cam feed there are personalized categories you can choose. One of them is 'new to you' which recommends content you haven't seen before. This may help expand your content bubble 😊
Thanks for the tip!
Awesome as always guys! And you’re in focus Chris!! 🤣🤣
Knock & Run - we did two versions as a kid. Knock & Run but at the same time try and set something up they would trip over when they chased us. Second version we called Rat a Tat Ginger - you stayed after knocking and tried to think of an excuse as to why you knocked the door......lol.
Aero Helmet - Met Manta
Movistar - Liked it.
Cheers for the comment Greg!
Thanks for sharing!
Solid episode as always, please keep these coming!
I found you guys because of the exaggerated gcn title. Great stuff!!!
Welcome aboard!
I enjoyed the netflix doc... the editing could have definitely been better but i loved the drama but couldn't believe how poor the management was and what a nutt superman was... unreal!
Imagine the condition of Hambini hairdresser's BOTTOM BRACKET
it's immaculate
@@Hambini in the eyes of the beholder, yes🤣
1. Australian authorities to MVPD: when a man is down under, we keep him there!
2. MVDP is detained and quits WC = Arrested Development
3. If MVDP cries, trust me, it's NOT crocodile tears!
4. Novak Djokovic : I told him to stay away, but he said he is a fast rider!
5. If THAT is 'Common Assault', imagine 'Uncommon Assault' Wow!
6. Australia: we fined MVPD with guilt
6. Nederlands: we find MVDP with gilt
Please put these on Apple/Google podcast
We need to get the audio situation sorted, then we will go that route James. Cheers mate.
You should watch Trace Velo too as everyone needs to take a gamble with Ali express occasionally. BTW, Hambini is a legend, as he is an engineer.
Holy balls. Jesse has a pop filter. Things are getting GCN level. ;D
Berm Peak is a great channel, with an MTB focus.
The hotel management called the cops? Instead of kicking this family out? Ok, no Novotel, Sofitel, Ibis etc. for me anymore :)
And MVDP, get a security guard to stand in front of your door next time. He coulda done the knocking.
should have held it in sydney , Bondi to Gosford and back Via Brooklyn , Bobbin Head , West head , Northern beaches to Bondi again
Eritrea's Kit was the best, most bold and most ambitious!
i can recommend the Furion 2.0, updated and very comfy, also very light
i have gotten out the bubble and i follow most of the cycling vloggers: VC, Francis Cade, Hambini, Peak Torque etc.
I'll check it out!
Should do this as a live stream one week
Marianne Vos was training from Brighton to Kurnell.
WOW! The tour de quarry’s with an incinerator and desalination plant thrown in for good measure #sydneyrides
Just me crossing off Australia from a potential trip😆
I heard MvP was staying away from the rest of the team as he was not feeling well and was isolating himself.
Chris the search bar gets you out of your bubble
