    Best video on 380 ballistics tests I seen so far. Thank you for being more articulate than most of the other ballistics guys.

    The .380 is an underappreciated caliber, practically a short 9mm round.
    They feel more comfortable than I actually expected as well, the recoil was light enough that I could practice firing with my off-hand when I had a fracture on my right arm.

    I haven’t found the ammo inc 380 hollowpoints, but I have some nice 100gr flat nose ammo inc that shoots good

    Really pretty decent. Acceptable penetration and expansion. Thank you.

    Nice test and good results!
    Coincidentally I have a box of this exact ammo. I caught a sale online and picked it up months ago. I had said it aside for practice target rounds because I've learned more about the difficulty of hollow points in 380. But this video showed me that there are some brands that do quite well! Perfect. Thank you.

    Surprised the XTP expanded. Glad to see such a good result.

    Good results! I use their 100gr FMJ-FN ammo for my range training, very consistent cartridge IMO.

    XTP bullets seem to perform about the best with the little .380 pocket guns. They don't get the expansion the more premium stuff gets so they actually get penetration. Seems the more premium stuff gets 7-9 inches. It looks prettier but they hardly get any penetration. So many MFGs offer an XTP load too.

    Great test! Have to agree, that's pretty decent performance out of an LCP MAX

    Those actually did pretty well even through the denim. Thanks for sharing.

    It's been my experience if they don't expand they will tumble when shot out of a 2.8" barrel due to the low spin rate.
    The XTP was my preferred .380 round before the HS Deep came out.

    Great test! This was better than some of the Buffalo Bore 380 standard pressure XTPs that I tested.

      Knox gel in my experience having used both, gets more jhp's to expand than clear gel. Maybe try them in your clear blocks and see what happens?

  • @svenno9951
    @svenno9951 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My choice for 380 has been XTP bullets for years now. They really are pretty good performers for the caliber. I may be moving to HST's if I can find them, however.

    P-95 TIP: The little cross pin, at the base of the grip, holds a fitted black piece that the hammer spring rests on. Tap the pin out with a punch or blunt nail. Its easy. Inside is a small stainless bushing/booster, piece of tube. If you take the little tube piece out, then reassemble (without it) you will have an outstanding/light trigger pull single & double action. BUT... Hammer striker could be too light for some ammo. So...grind the little tube piece so it's about half it's original length. Perfect! The difference is truly amazing.

    Do you have an opinion on whats the best 380 defence ammo for a standard LCP? My wife carries one and Im really trying to figure out whats the best for her to carry. It looks like you had good results with the Underwood and HST as well.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Personally I keep the Extreme Defenders in mine so I don't have to worry about whether I'm going to get enough expansion or enough penetration. Just make sure they run reliably in your firearm because some don't cycle them perfectly due to the shape. Runner up would probably be that HST I tested...

      @@BuckeyeBallistics thanks for sharing! Do you carry the +p version of the Underwood? I'm pretty sure Ruger doesn't approve +p in the LCP but I've met a lot of people who use it for carry but practice with something not so hot, that way it's not straining the pistol with a lot of +p use. You have any thoughts on that?

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can usually get away with a few boxes of +p and be fine (I did), though I'm not advocating doing that. I keep the standard pressure in it- don't need +p with those bullets anyway.

    Slight problem… I bought this ammo a few weeks ago and the bullets look nothing like this. So if you pick this up, you may not get the XTP style bullets.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics

      Does the packaging look exactly the same? I think they might have more than one version, or one is the old and the other new like you said. Even though you just bough them, it could be old stock or just a different version. They used to have some in grey boxes...

    These are hyper dangerous to the shooter and their gun!!!!! Got a squib shot outta this.
    Was zeroing a mustang 380 and heard a puff and got unburned powder everywhere
    I noticed there wasn’t a hole on the paper so I quickly unloaded and stripped it and sure enough the was ass all the way in about 3mm

      Thanks for watching- every manufacturer has that happen from time to time.

    • @gk5891
      @gk5891 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had that happen in an S&W 1006 using Norma 10mm (200 gr @ 1200 fps) years ago. Norma was likely the most highly regarded ammo manufacture in the world at the time. It happens.
      Did you examine the flash hole in the casing? If it was clear with no burrs most likely a weak primer. Most likely bought from one of the major manufacturers.
