Do you currently live in Heredia, Costa Rica? What do you like about it? What do you not like about it? Are you considering living there? What questions do you have?
Hey Guys, watching your video now Thanks for the shout out!! Love this about Heredia!! We love living in Barva Heredia. The locals are extremely friendly and caring and it is truly like living in real Costa Rica and the best part is our history, culture and people and food! Not all the Tourists which we wanted and the temperature here is perfect. We live up in the hills where the coffee grows and we don't need AC. It's beautiful and green here all year round and fresh air. Britt coffee tour is extremely fun and we go down the mountain to buy our fresh coffee there. Heredia is very affordable still and utilities are cheap plus we have the best Farmers Market in Mercedes Norte Heredia that we do all our grocery shopping and food is cheap. We are close to everything and we believe Heredia is the best place to live in Central valley. Escazu and santa Anna is too Americanized for us and too many Gringos 😊 and much dryer and hotter climate and much more expensive. .We moved to CR to experience the culture, history, people and food and to immerse ourselves into this beautiful Country. We rented the first year starting at beach towns and ended up purchasing our house here in Barva Heredia. Great video Pura vida 😏
Hello Sandra! My family completely want to live in a town like Heredia. I did have a question. We are planning to rent in CR before we buy. We don’t need a “western” home, but just a comfortable home for a family of 5. If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you spend on your home and did you finance? I think we may have to rent until we gain residency so we can get a mortgage.
@@kpatterson7009 Heredia Province is the best place to live OUR OPINION ONLY. We purchased a large 4 bedroom 3 bathroom built by Locals in all local neighborhood from the Bank. Check out the banks listings for homes too. No financing we sold our home in AZ. It was a simple transaction because we just had to wire Bank to Bank and always use a good Attorney for all the processes. We purchased ours for 160.000 USA. They were asking 175.000 . That was 2 years ago but there is still affordable homes here in Santa Lucia Barva Heredia where we live. Some are not even listed you can drive around and see the SE VENDE signs on their gates. I really would check Bank listings too for Bank owned. Hope this helps and hope you find your spot !! Santa Barbara Heredia, Santa Lucia Barva Heredia, San Rafael Heredia, Santa Domingo Heredia are all safe and nice places with affordable housing. Rentals are available in all these areas also and many not advertised but have signs on their gates. The best way is to drive around and look for them. Locals will give better rent prices than Gringos. Gringos are very proud and charge much more for their homes to rent. Get to know Locals and they will help you. All our friends are local Ticos and they have helped us with many many things.. Pura Vida, Sandra
I have lived in San Rafael de Heredia for 25 years. I do alot of hiking and walking in the high country of this province. Get in touch with me if you want to learn the possibilities.
I like Heredia a lot. It's definitely more reasonably priced than Escazu, Santa Ana, or Atenas, as far as cost of living. There are some cool houses for sale there that would cost 35% more if they were located in one of the "expat hot-spot neighborhoods." The only thing I really don't like about Heredia is how challenging it is to drive on their roads (Narrow, hilly, blind corners, mossy, slick, big trucks, etc.). Pura Vida.
I just want to point out that Heredia isn't a suburb of San José. San José ends at the bridge of the Virilla river coming north from Tibas. Heredia begins with Santo Domingo on the other side of the river. The city of Heredia is the capital of the Province of Heredia, and it has a different mayor and a different City Council than San José. I know it’s a common mistake because the distance is so short, but we are talking about totally different provinces with totally different local governments.
Agree it's a separate city and province, but so too are the hamlets around any large city. The cities that surround and feed workers to the larger are known as suburbs. We meant the comparison in this way.
Thanks for your comment! We have one coming on the Caribbean towns, mostly Puerto Viejo, but we aren’t too versed in the city of Limón. Have you spent much time there?
Hi - this is Patrick. Best. Response. Ever! I've never had someone say ANY video I've made put them on the edge of their seat. You get a free coffee meeting when you come down!
