    Great man! I like this beautiful song. Django version is incredible......I once tried an APC I just couldn't play anything and I sent it back to Portugal.

      It’s not a good guitar, I never use it of course for gigs or studio, but I have it in the livingroom and don’t have to worry the kids might break it, and I take it when we do the camping 🏕️ in the vacations, so if it gets lost or something 🤷🏻‍♂️😅

      @@SvenJungbeck can be. I only tested one. receipt by mail in bad condition. my opinion, however, the bridge is too thin, be sure it is cheap. In any case, even a broom sounds good in your hands.🤣

    Beautiful Sven! You execute this so well.. I just stare and listen!
    Super nice guitar! New one? :-D Current discussion with my duo-partner is what makes the gypsy-tone. We always end on string type!
    And oh, by the way, this video made me realize, that the "hendrix-9" can lead to other chords, just like the dim7. Thanks for that!

  • @equenda
    @equenda 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very good playing.....perfect instructional indications. I just like a more mainstream approach to comping.......since the "all-quarter-chords-rhythm" approach is too much mechanical....just my opinion.

    • @SvenJungbeck
      @SvenJungbeck  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, I know what you mean, since my channel deals with gypsy jazz, I basically teach gypsy jazz comping. body and soul is not really a typical tune for that genre but some of my followers wanted to me to teach it in that style.

    What DOES make a tune a gypsy jazz tune???

    • @SvenJungbeck
      @SvenJungbeck  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John,
      Of course there is no classification like this, I try to teach basically tunes that are very often played in the gypsy jazz. I mean ballads like tears, Melodie au crespuscule or nuages are very typical for the genre while songs like body and soul or misty or my funny Valentine are not. It's not my goal to build up walls between styles, but at least I think, my channel is for people who want to learn gypsy jazz. Therefore I try to explain idiomatic chords, licks and songs. I did body and soul, because I've been asked to do it several times. I like the song very much. But it is not really a "gypsy jazz song". I know that most of the tunes Django played are American songs, but with "gypsy jazz songs", I mean the songs that are probably played in a Gipsy jazz session. Does that make sense?

      It's a very cheap APC Guitar. It's my vacation guitar :)
      You get it new for 260€
      I got this one for 150€, it is actually not a good guitar, but the purpose of having a guitar while camping it's brilliant. 😁

    mmm those are typical fake book chords - why bother ? you should have "tried" putting django's chords that are much more closer to the original recordings - in fact theres less chords changes. Love the fact though that you sang it while playing - that's cool.

    • @SvenJungbeck
      @SvenJungbeck  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right there.!
      There are some Django Chord Progressions like In a sentimental mood that are really cool and old school. I should teach those definitely.
