    THE ONLY thing better than one Laboriel is two. How cool is it to watch the Dad and the Son jam it out like this. I got hooked on Abe in 1977 with Lee Ritenour' band and then Friendship Group. Long live The Golden Bear.

      I like his playing style, not a whole lot of chops all over the place with no feelings. With some drummers, it's like, excuse me, where are you going with all those licks? How come I can't hear the rest of the other instruments?
      There was a time when drummers actually supported the music, but now, it's like they are the music, as an old school drummer since. 1963, even now at 71 I still play although things are a tad bit slower , nothing can beat some real good solid drumming.

    Incredible performance Drum Channel, Pops on Bass, and Greg on keys, an amazing player, plus Mike on guitar had me flashing back to the Raging Honkies, "Give Me the Night", and Boz Skaggs' '70's concerts with a little bit of a batucada thrown in at 9:00, showing a multitude of drum genres, Jr. is able to seamlessly integrate this number into each players' solos and of course as a group, he's the glue guy no doubt. Gotta check out "Another Night At The Baked Potato" this was so good!

    • @fab5720
      @fab5720 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sadly, the snare sounds just as mismatched as the whole drumset. Although Laboriel plays fine, the whole drumset is way too boomy, dominant, makes it all sound heavy, sluggish, obese. No lightness, no air, no freshness to be felt. Instead of flying, chirping birds, I hear a big fat truck rolling down the hill. Other drum-sizes and different tuning and better mixing would have made it more of a joy to listen to it IMHO.

      Well not all drummers have to play a fusion/gospel kit. This is the sound pallet he chose and he makes it sound kick ass. If it doesn’t fit your definition of what a “good” sounding drum set is, understandable but the level of musicianship if off the charts. If you guys are saying he is not a great player, then I feel sorry for you for not appreciating the drums or the whole band. They were locked in, hitting each accent with each other. Just amazing. If you didn’t like it, no problem move along and watch something else.

    • @JakeLindqvist
      @JakeLindqvist 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shuffle itself shows how good he is. He is a phenomenally good drummer period! But yeah, little too laid back, sluggish?, to my taste. It`s nice when people find their own style and taste. Brilliant.

    Maybe just my playback system, but the kick drum and the lower frequencies of the bass were interacting badly for me. All sounded somewhat boomy and muddy down there, which spoiled the feel of the whole thing. I can only assume it was just a coincidental interplay with the TH-cam compression and my Bose playback system. But the playing, as you'd expect, was top notch. Abe Sr sure hasn't lost it, and Abe Jr sure has got it...! ;)
