I have this exact guitar. I love it. I'm actually going to replace the bridge pickup with a hot rail though. I'm excited to hear what it sounds like when I activate the neck pickup along with the bridge pickup once I install the humbucker. I'm not going to lie to myself or anyone else here, I paid the extra money for the brand name. I knew I could get a cheaper guitar with slightly better specs for around $200 cheaper, but it was worth it for me. When I see my Strat every morning, something about the way it looks inspires me to play and write music. There's something about fender necks that make me feel like I need to play them. It's hard to explain. I'm just a Fender fanboy, I guess. But I'm proud of it. That being said, if I buy another Strat style guitar, I'll get another brand. I still want a Jaguar, Meteora, jazzmaster, Duo-Sonic/mustang, and a custom though.
How did you go!? I'm selling my gibson and thinking of getting one of these, i want that proper strat pos 5&4 but the thing i want the most is the rolled finger board and fender neck. Whats your opinion on it after a few months of ownership?
@@kremepye3613 I’ve had mine for a couple months and it’s amazing. It’s the best Strat to ever come out of Mexico! The locking tuners and rolled fretboard takes this to another level. It’s heavier than a typical strat averaging about 8/lbs which is pretty much the same as a Gibson LP. But the noiseless pups are done excellently and you’re not really going to notice any difference in spanky strat tone but you won’t get the 60c hum now. Honestly, most ppl use the standard 2 and 4 pickup switch on strats but I’ve been getting some really good tone on the 3rd position also. Maybe because it’s heavier at 8/lbs but it’s definitely warm chunky sound and not thin like some strats can be. Only con I can see is the weight… again 8/lbs is going to be the average for this line and lastly the price is more expensive for a Mexican strat but you’re also getting better quality hardware with the locking-tuners, nicely done rolled fretboard, the SSS noiseless pups impressed me and everyone I’ve jammed with says this guitar has a great tone… matter of fact my Jam band bassist says he wants to get a Mexican Fender bass to see if he can match my tone. I love the color profile with the Olympic Pearl and that red tortoise pick guard and maple neck makes this look much more expensive than it is. I personally don’t like pau ferro so I wouldn’t of gotten this if it wasn’t for the beautiful maple neck. But it worked out well for me… did you end up getting one?
@greg6162 hey mate thanks for your feedback!! I ended up getting an am pro2, but I'm now looking at the mexican player plus for a second tele! I might just give one a shot!
I can understand you perfectly 🤣 I feel the same thing with my fender Telecaster player plus nashville 😂 and I wanna buy this strat now ahaha greetings 😊
I have one of these and they are definitely worth the money over the standard player ( I used to have one of them as well ) the neck is wider and the rolled finger board edges make for a way more comfortable playing experience and the pickups are better to .. so yes it's worth the price tag
great review i bought this same guitar to add to my collection. It is my first true sss strat guitar , i see it replacing my collection this one guitar. The sound variation, playablility, and the maple neck is orstine with rolled edges and impeccable fret ends. I am impressed and thx again for this review
I LOVE this color scheme!!! I’m 80% sure I’m going to buy it as my first Fender… except I think I want the HSS as I’ve heard it’s more versatile sound wise. I’m a beginner and not very good so I also have an untrained ear. But I play Sublime (just learned Santeria solo🤘) Metallica, GNR, Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles Blink182, Greenday etc. I wish they have this color in HSS MIM but I don’t think they do unless I buy American made… I feel I haven’t earned one yet. But I think looking at a guitar that speaks to you will make you play it more, or maybe I’m just lying to myself? Anyway, what I really want is a full maple neck. I don’t know why but of the two guitars I owned I’ve never had a full maple neck. Had a Squire Strat in 1996 that I think was ebony but I was young bought it used off my brothers friend for $300 with a Marshall practice amp and only played a few months and then sold it… wish I still had that tube amp though. Anyway, I hear people saying the humbucker makes a huge impact on Strat’s and gets rid of the obvious hum. I’m playing on mini practice amps now. The one that came with the Epiphone was terrible and I have an untrained ear and heard it. So I bought a used Roland micro cube GX and it seems much better but I really want a Strat again. Any thoughts about SSS vs HSS would be much appreciated!
Update: Yep… I bought this guitar and it’s awesome! Only been playing 6/months or so and I’ve found a bass player and a drummer at work that heard me talking about it and asked if I wanted to jam… it was epic! Mostly 90’s punk/Grunge but it’s so different having to play in time with everyone but the hardest thing for me was playing standing up… I never practiced that before. Now when I learn a new song on TH-cam I practice it standing up
Nice review. I have it, I've had a Pacifica(not the one u show but a much cheaper one) and, for some reason, didn't motivate me as much... at that point, I had a Cort X11 (bought the Yamaha because couldn't bring the Cort with me when I moved to a different country), got to bring it afterwards because I did a road trip and preferred it over the Yamaha and not only because of the better pickups... it was the sensation when I played both.... but I was fed up with the struggle that the Floyd Rose supposed and didn't even use it a lot, so sold it, bought a Fender player plus sunburst with HSS configuration and I'm in love. I know I paid more for the Fender logo, but hey, it's love, not a rational thing!😅 Also, maybe one day I change the pickups (don't think so, but who knows?) and, if I wanted to sell it, the second hand price is much higher than other makes like Yamaha, Cort etc
Fender QC is way better. But if you can tinker and can sand and crown a fret and you like metal specs Charvels are great. 12" is as good as 12-16 imo as far as fretting out goes, and noiseless Fender are great pickups.
@@guyincognito320 I agree the I wasn’t expecting the noiseless pups to be this good. Love the Olympic Pearl and red tortoise… probably my favorite color combination from Fender. This line is heavier averaging about 8/lbs which is on par with a Gibson LP but this guitar sounds really good. My only con is the heavier weight for a strat but got a nice wide Levy’s strap and I don’t even notice it now
The prices are even higher now... Normally you know how it is : with fender or gibson you pay for the name but ... In the end you have more resell value. I love Yamaha but haven't tested the 612. But let's be honest when you sell your Pacifica you loose money 🤑
Hey!😁 Yep, you’re totally right! To be honest, this days I don’t think to much on the resale value because I already know that I will lose money so..🤷🏻♂️😂
@@andrerodriguesguitars I sold my MIM Tele Baja for a $200 prophet just a year ago. Simple fact is, that Fender Logo does add to cost. But it's worth it when you add up all the factors.
I love my Strats and although they cost more I'm still stuck on a Fender. I don't buy to sell either but if I had to sell it would be a much easier brand to move. I feel bad for a lot of other brands including Yamaha who makes great guitars, although in the Pacifica line they scrimp on the electronics....pots, switches which are more comparable to the Squier line of guitars. Nice review. Thanks so much! :) All guitars under 1k, when compared to Yammy 612VII, are a tough sell ("overpriced") when all the specs are considered for the price of 799 euros (Thomann DE or Muziker prices for the Pacifica 612v II). It's sad that the price has gone up 100e euros for both the 611hfm (hardtail with p90) and 612vII in the past year or so... To my ears Yamaha (in other reviews) sounds somewhat more "modern" compared to Fender PP and other guitars from the MiM line. Almost all MiM Fender can instantly be dialed to that "signature" strat tone (SRV, Frusciante, JM) - tones which I unfortunately didn't hear from the 612v Pacificas in other YT reviews.. I do agree that in that price range i'd probably consider other guitars like the Fender Vintera Mod 50s (MiM "custom shop") or the Charvels DK24 HSS 2pt Red Ash (MiK) - all depending on which tone/music genre one is going for... Even some used Ibanez Premiums can be found for under 1k (or 1.3/1.4k for used Prestige models) I'd even throw in a Cort g300 pro along with Pacifica as a "best buy" guitar under 1000 euros... Cort G300 Pro being pretty much an Ibanez Premium without the "bling top" (but full maple cap) for 750 euros. it'd be really great if You could review it. ;) If possible please showcase some direct comparison of the Pacifica vs Fender Player plus tones (mostly blues-rock stuff like SRV/JM/KWS/Philip Sayce :) ) Cheers!
