Great video. Thanks for slowing down and explaining. Just a few questions... What is the dimension of this board? For this size board, what are the dimensions of your fabric? What's the best way to map out your layout for the holes? What were you doing with the measuring tape after you drilled the holes -- something about 2"? How are you starting the threading of the buttons (3:40)? How do you know where to poke on the material? Thanks for sharing!!!
And this is why these kind of Headboards cost so much because of his craftsmanship. Freaking genius and awesome, so really in a way it's worth it(but not a lot lot of money)
Thank you so much Darren!! Your videos are amazing! I was gonna buy a headboard but watchiing you convinced me to try and do it myself :D Hope I can do it... Greetings from Argentina!
Hi Lisa, Thanks for watching my video. I actually reviewed the video and did notice myself smacking it LOL. I really didn't think i needed too but i guess its just a reflects i have when working with leather i guess. ha ha ha. Thanks again for watching. Darren
I was watching you and another person do this and they both look great. I have learned so much from you both and i will combine the two Technics together and come up with something fabulous in a framed headboard..... lol thank you Mrs. Patterson
Can you tell me please, do you simply put the leather material and start make holes , or you measure where you will put the button? I am asking because i try to copy your work and i don't wanna spend money again on material if i fail. As reference 3:40 is the time.It looks you simply put material on and start apply the buttons. Thank you
awesome stuff bro I have messed with some automotive upholstery before (no sewing only covering parts) I really enjoyed it. This looks simple enough for me to do and I just build a audio studio desk and now I am thinking some tufted leather would have looked awesome on it ha ha not to mention luxurious.
Hi Darren I really enjoyed your video and the beautiful piece. I would love to do this as a dark brown leather piece with antique brass buttons surrounded by a 2x6 distressed wood frame, my question is how did you fold the corners you video cut short as you where doing it.
Mattris61 The corner is folded like this sofa video i'm going to post for its done on the inside back piece. th-cam.com/video/aGtfZgNNSOI/w-d-xo.html Darren
Hi loved all your ideas and DIY videos. They are awesome and really look beautiful and professionally done. Wonder if I would get the same result if I were to try it? Guess they need a certain level of skill huh? Anyways, will try it out one of these days! Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Tikiyizi, Thanks for watching my video and complimenting me on my work. I have to say the work i do isnt easy but it can be down. I have been doing this for over 10 years and i'm still learning. Hopefully i was able to help you understand things a little better. If you have any questions don't by shy to ask. Darren
heey man great job!!! you inspired me to do a headboard, is a good help to me can see your job on video, thanks to share! I just have the same cuestion that @meg anies, Just want to know if u put markings at the other side of the Leather so it will create a perfect plits on the front. If u do, what is the size if my diamond is 6x 7 in ? I hope have a answer, greetings! thank you!
DId you mark the button locations on the leather too? If yes how did you determine spacing? the holes in the plywood were 5.5 inches wide by 6.5 inches high from the centers.
This is awesome - questions... 1) what size buttons did you use? 2) what kind of thread did you use for the buttons and did you staple the thread to the back of the board? 3) I see you stapled the very edge of the leather to the board... does it matter that this is visible?
Great video! I've seen where someone cut partial lines in the foam like connecting dots to create that pleated look that you make. Is that a good technique to use for suede fabric? I want that diamond appearance and I'm not sure which will more appealing.
A man that knows his craft. Well done. Just an absolutely beautiful job.👍🏾👏🏾😊 So do you sell these things to people in the USA? I see that you’re located in Canada.
so how do you know where to add the buttons i see you have one set tied down and the next set punched though the leather and you just pull them down, did you just find the next hole and set the buttons there? or did you take a measurement? this is a great video thanks
Robert Pot-Roast Piezuch these vídeos never show how the professionals measure and mark the areas where the button is going through, it's marked on the reverse side of the fabric. If a diamond size on the ply wood are 6"H x 4"W the markings on the back of the fabric should be 7.5"H x 5.5"W that give you a nice natural fold.
Thanks for sharing I just don't know how you get the button through I see that you tread them first, but how do you get the needle through with the button at the bottom.
Thanks for your video! I too am interested in learning how to join 2 fabrics (faux leather). Could you explain how much extra fabric you use and how you know where to space the buttons to allow for the tufting. Thanks!
Hi First, Thanks for watching my video. I have to say explaining myself is really hard to understand still so i'm going to make a video for you and others that need help on this part. Just give me a little time and you'll see in up ok? Darren
Hi darren this is super elegant headboard! Just want to know if u put markings at the other side of the Leather so it will create a perfect plits on the front. If u do, what is the size if my diamond is 6x 7 in ? Thank u so much! 😀
wow my God Alo, i'm totally in love with your way of work. you work so good that i can't stop looking at you working, i'm already your student. My name is Angela Brito,i wish you can show me how to upholster a wall to wall as a headboard, i'm in love with that wonderful idea, i have a king size bed? Thanks so much for your help. Have a beautiful weekend.
Man, awesome job! Were you able to do that with one hide? I'm thinking of doing king size headboard and was wondering if it would take two hides to get the job done. If I need to use two hides, how do I conceal the seam?
Hi! What a wonderful video. Thanks a lot for showing us your work. What thickness of leather do you use for this kind of work? I would like to to build a Chesterfield style couch for and I would like it to be soft to the touch but durable enough to withstand stupid people climbing on it with shoes, or spilling drinks. Thanks a lot.
hi i would like to know the correct measurement for base board length an width an how much u measure away from the edge to start ur lines to create the diamond an how much fabric you use to wrap thank u
You have one of the best videos. Is it the same for a winged tufted headboard? I was also wondering if you could tuft bed panels and what kind of buttons do you need?
Hi Juicey84, Thanks for the compliment, Yes its the same for a wing tufted headboard. You just have to make the wing a separate piece and then join it together after. Bed panels you can tuft as well depending on the thickness. you can get buttons from Michael crafts i beleive and just make sure you have a hole behind it so you can put the string through to pull. Darren

Hi, your work is amazing. I would like to do some tufted work and get the rubbed finish on the leather. If you know how to achieve the antique finish, can you please share it?
Question someeone wants me to make an 8ft headboard for a queensized bed, i can only find fabric by the yard. Where can i get a solid cut of fabric to make it without having to sew two pieces together?
***** Most likely you will need to join it. Or you can run it side to side. the height has to be around 3.5 feet only anymore you will need to join. Darren
Hi paula, The plywood that i used was 5/8 but i made a little angle to it so it has a little slope to it. That's why it looks a little thick as well. I Usually dont angle it unless the customer ask for it. Darren

Hi paula,
