DJ Akademiks and Vlad discussed the repercussions of rapper Tory Lanez receiving a ten-year prison sentence after rejecting a four-year plea deal. Lanez’s refusal is linked to his immigration status, as accepting the deal would have resulted in instant deportation. In addition to freedom and immigration status, his career also influenced Lanez’s decision, because a guilty plea could have essentially ended his musical career. They discussed the rough reality of prison life, explaining that celebrity status doesn’t exempt one from gang affiliations or physical altercations.
