I wish I still had my W140. Those were built like tanks! Mine was only a 500, but still a fast car for it's size and weight. This car that you guys built is a masterpiece for sure! Keep these w140's alive.

I have the privilege of owning a 1997 W140 S600. That V12 is already powerful to haul all of that weight. But to drive a Renntech Version of the W140, is probably out of this world.

Great work. I have a question, how did you manage to generate this amount of torque (953nm) from a naturally aspirated 7.6L M120 ?
Converting the engine management to a newer Bosch system allowed for greater customization to maximize gains from the intake, exhaust, camshafts, and increased displacement.

I would give a few toes for that S Class. Still one of my all time favorite body. Bruno did it right throughout his years at MB. Great job re envisioning a masterpiece.

Renntech just basically gave the biggest middle finger to AMG the week they’ve slapped the W204 6.2 liter V8 C63 name on a RWD hybrid CLA 45
Thank you for sharing these videos. my grandma had a W140 S500 back in the day and it’s what started my entire car obsession. So timeless. I was able to daily drive a W221 S65 and now a W222 S63, they are just so good at everything especially the way they make you feel. Would love to someday acquire a W140 of any nomenclature.
I remember when I was about 10 years old, which was 20 years ago, I first encountered Renntech and there amazing vehicles at the Houston auto show and I was hooked ever since! Y’all are amazing keeping the legends alive with all the grace and performance y’all incorporate! And including the new ones it’s just jaw dropping!

That right there is peak S-Class for me. Not the latest generation. The W140 is, to me...the ultimate. And this one, The Ultimate of Ultimate. 👏
A question...it may be a tricky one, and I don't intend to ask too many details, I know some things may be a secret (hehe), but...I don't know the stock M120's connecting rod length to calculate its r/l ratio, but my guess is that it's below the 0.3 limit? With this new crankshaft and longer stroke, is the r/l ratio still below or at least within this limit or did you need to sacrifice a bit of it by using shorter connecting rods?
I remember as 15 yr old kid seeing Michael Jordan the basketball player in one these tank mercedes back in the late 90s I wanted one ever since it was also my uncle favorite car he passed 13 years ago until 6months ago I purchased a 97 w140 v12 now I'm putting away to send it RENNtech that is awesome job you guys at RENNtech

Well, this certainly made my week! I loved the W140 S-Class when it first came out, and still do. I was in the market a few years ago to buy a W140 S600, but then I opted for a W220 S55 AMG instead because I was unsure if the W140 that I was interested in weren't too old already. However, now after watching this video it has re-inspired me to get a W140 because I am still obsessed with its massive presence which in my opinion exceeds the presence of a RR Phantom. Awesome car, well done!

Its unreal to have 703 LB FT (950Nm) on naturally aspirated 7.6 engine.
I don't like diamond stitched seats and contrasting stitch. But you have a hall pass. Please keep doing what you do, the world needs to get with this. Amazing work and a noble pursuit, thank you!
Der Ansatz dieses Restomods ist toll, aber bei Minute 1:40 sprechen Sie ja selber an was dem Auto noch fehlt: Eine Getriebesoftware, die den Motor hoch drehen lässt und schnell schaltet. Ich denke da an die AMG Fahrzeuge mit 7-G-Tronic. Die sind herrlich, einfach perfekt.
Upgrading the 600 SEL from a 4-speed to 5-speed with limited slip differential was an great improvement, but also very labor intense.
We do have proof of concept for 6-speed manual transmission (if you feel like rowing a big boat like this?).. and always working on new solutions. Performance first!

Hi ! I think most ICONIC RENNtech cars that era was W124 AND W210 WHY you don't speak about these REAL Racecars = Stars of that era of automative magazines. RENNtech W124 and W210 and R129 was thru competitors M5 Porsches. W140 is sedan not racecar.

Daily drive my W140 V12 6.0 here in Detroit. Class with power IMO. How much are the various upgrades price points? Yes I know if you have to ask you can't afford it. I ask as I have a 8 car fleet of W140s/R129 V8s V12 that consume my days/budgets.
Very nice but... what about fuel consumption? Emissions? Are never injectors, sensors etc can make this beautiful engine much more... "Today" standards approve? Upgrading transmission... more gears? :)

Having a W140 S Class in Australia the parts pricing from Mercedes is outrageous Roughly a 300% mark up on the prices in the US.

Given how many cars are junked every year cause something newer came around it´s refreshing to see when companies instead "recycle" them and rebuild them to newer standards. In the end you have the looks of the past with all the benefits of advancements since then. At least for me that´s a win, win. Modern cars became boring, bland and quite often ugly as eff. Or at the very least do they look like cheap knockoffs of their predecessors.
Quite a different approach in todays throwaway culture.
I'm an Audi guy, that's why I don't trust their A8's W12 engine. I really want this. This is the original big body luxury car for me.
1992 was one of the best overall vehicle quality years for MBZ across the board , from the 201 to 124 and of course 140. I had W124's 400E and 500E in those years and they were my most memorable Mercedes ever. And I have had dozens since. Quality really took a nose dive with early 220's and especially W203, probably the worse! Great Video!
i lost interest in cars after owning an s600 w220 . al cars looks BS when i sold it and try to find a better car. but becouse of the gas prices i ended up in a nissan sunny lol. its a shame that governments around the world are fighting us to not make it practical to own such things

Am I the only one that winces at the diamond stitching..? A classic like that needs an original Mercedes interior not red stitching snd diamond patterns. It’s not a A35 AMG 😩

We can do that. 6 speed manual transmission for V12 powered, S, SEC, and SL.
