Rhiannon has I believe the purest , most beautiful female voice in music right now. I have several of her solo CDS and with Carolina chocolate drops and this musician is the real deal. Years of performing with family and bands i.e Carolina Chocolate Drops; nominated and awarded an Emmy. She is also a graduate of North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics; Studies of Vocal Opera Oberlin Conservatory. I wish her decades of performing and continuing the expression of many musical paths.

During this time of the year, when the commemoration of my Father's passing, my late Mother's Birthday, and Mother's Day come around, I need to cry, but I cannot because it hurts me too keenly. I'm 72. been playing a long time.. began in the 60s and played all that " British envasion" stuff, moved on the pop, by the 90s was playing blues, and in the last 10 years have been working on old folk blues and that has led me to blue grass,,, and now to my Irish roots.. Love this song.. and just love Rhiannon and her treatment of this piece. Its all music and its all good.. 8 years ago I threw away all picks.. and just use fingers now.. Sometimes I think.. go to the root.. learn that and move on from there.. its has taken 60 years to come to this style of music.. and its the most touching music I have found.. play whats in your heart.. to heck if anyone else likes it.

During this time of the year, when the commemoration of my Father's passing, my late Mother's Birthday, and Mother's Day come around, I need to cry, but I cannot because it hurts me too keenly. It was so lovely to hear it again.
Rhiannon Giddens has a gorgeous and powerful voice and I am a fan.
Now THAT, Ladies and Gentlemen, is a REAL Artist. No body parts hanging out, no dumb props, no nonsense, not even a stitch of makeup. Just the voice of an angel, some serious banjo skills, and accompanied by an accordian, singing a moving, traditional song. How refreshing.

Shared Joan Baez "diamonds and rust" with wife Carol many years ago, now one of our personal classics among many we love. There are so many wonderful new and long standing musicians and singers on You Tube, I feel very fortunate to have such access to so many genres. Glad to have re-discovered Rhiahannon Giddens. May I recommend Paola Hermosin, great guitarist and musicologist.
This was my grandfathers favourite song - he will be gone two years Friday. Hearing her sing this gives me some comfort.
I heard Rhiannon in an interview on "Fresh Air" with Terry Gross on Juneteenth, 2020, and I cannot get this woman's music out of my head--and heart, for listening to her brings me to tears.

my daddy loved her and showed me this twice 1 year ago and another 2 years ago. I never realized how much resonated with my daddy. We lost my nana (his mom) just a year before him and he kinda gave up after that. What he wanted more than anything was something that no money could buy. Something un-purchasable, to see his mama. I hope they are together now. Dad and I were dragons on the chinese zodiac. I'm a good dragon and he's a wood dragon. He passed away Jan 01 2024, this year is the year of the wood dragon. Isn't life crazy? Don't take anything for granted.

I'm 72. been playing a long time.. began in the 60s and played all that " British envasion" stuff, moved on the pop, by the 90s was playing blues, and in the last 10 years have been working on old folk blues and that has led me to blue grass,,, and now to my Irish roots.. Love this song.. and just love Rhiannon and her treatment of this piece. Its all music and its all good.. 8 years ago I threw away all picks.. and just use fingers now.. Sometimes I think.. go to the root.. learn that and move on from there.. its has taken 60 years to come to this style of music.. and its the most touching music I have found.. play whats in your heart.. to heck if anyone else likes it.
Rhiannon Giddens has the one of the finest voices since Sandy Denny. She is purely wonderful. But what about the gentleman next to her in the video. It is always great to see Phil Cunningham.
