PLEASE put a train station in, Mostly in Europe they have amazing rail infrastructure, not just city wise but regional wise also! Take a look on a map that shows public transport. I think it would be amazing to have a large rail network on this map.
One thing u could do, especially downtown, is play with the road builder and make unique custom roads. Maybe one road is a supper narrow alley with residential, while another road with wider sidewalks might be lined with high end commerical (Hausseman Boulevard), while another could be more car centric with less amenities like trees with dingier commercial (rue de La Chapelle). You could have pedestrian roads with more hipster style vibes and cool passages that go through blocks and courtyards.
2$ could consider pedestrianising Valley street - Madison street. It feels like a pretty natural corridor for shops and businesses, and links up with the park in the centre as well as running alongside the cathedral.

@ That’d be an 8-lane road then, because the bridges are one way. That’s a no-no in Europe, except maybe the city centers of Madrid, Berlin and Paris or other huge metropoles in European countries with suuuper long and wide urban boulevards. But yeah Texas has no limit lol
The German area definitely needs a big car factory campus. I recommend looking at my hometown of Bremen for inspiration. They’re also home to a department of the European Space Agency and Harbor industry areas. Germany loves its industry.

It is fantastic how beautiful you can make these places without any assets. The previous episode I really felt you were missing a church, so that's great. A next step I think could be to invest in public transport and pedestrian areas. Touristic cities, especially the smaller ones, would definitely prevent cars from entering at all costs. Keep up the good work!
I love that you are into building European cities this time. Just some tips: In Europe we solve traffic problems with public transport, not building more roads like you did. A city of this size in Europe would already have at least between 5 to 10 bus lines. Then, I would put more effort in creating blocks that follow irregular shapes. In many of them you just chose to fill the odd angle part of the block with gardens or parking. It just looks unnatural and not European at all. I know the assets do not help much with this, but give it a try. The large parking lot next to the hospital really does not look European at all. City centres in Europe really do not have large parking lots. I would refrain from building them at all. In most European city centres the only parking space available is literally the sides of each street. And yes people go to the hospital in Europe by public transport or by taxi. They do not drive to an hospital in the city centre because simply there is no parking there. In hospitals outside of city centres it is another story. And just to nickpick the clinic and the primary school are wall-to-wall buildings. They should be part of a block instead of being blocks themselves. It is very uncommon to see bare empty building walls in European city centres. But again it is just because those assets were designed like that. To solve your finances - Build that realistic bus network and charge crazy fees for parking in the city centre, just like it happens in real European cities! You will see how it will boost your income a lot.
Great tips thank you! I’m only solving traffic with roads at this point as I’m still expanding the layout. I’m planning for great public transport and I can’t wait
@ if you do some little suburbs, try not to use the modern looking houses, the north of france has very old and traditional houses except a few new ones
The use of surfaces and decals really gives the town the detail it deserves. The surfaces are much better than what was available in CS1, and Two Dollars really knows how to use them
When you eventually get round to doing the UK area you should add a UK seaside town. They tend to be a bit tacky and have loads of arcades, food shops and usually a funfair of some type and sometimes a fishing harbour and pier. Towns like Scarborough and Bridlington are good examples or if you want a bigger town Blackpool with it's pleasure beach and trams 11:35
I think a pedastrian bridge next to the historical center would be a nice addition since there are a lot of them in European cities and towns and they are also great toursit spots
You should totally base the uk section on Bath. Its a small town in the South West of the UK and i think it will totally fit both the vibe of the map itself and the vibe you have going with the french town!
I live in a city in Sweden called Malmö. In an area, there's old rails that have now been filled with concrete or asphalt. You can still see the old metal holding the train on the rail. Now they are used as paths instead. Perhaps that is something you can introduce in the little town going past the beach on the newer side of the river. Additionally, on the historical side of the river, you can put down a partial wall that could be another tourist attraction, deepening the historical roots when the town was a fortress or whatever you envision. When it comes to the bridge connecting the two sides together, I'd recommend making it more grand, or including many more bridges connecting the two sides. Or you can do both! The other bridges doesn't have to be as grand as the main bridge though. Hope this inpsired!
When the east European region packs are released. You should really make a collab with Akruas although he doesn't play C:S 2, hes insight in eastern European history and culture would bring a lot of realism in the city.
Totnes is a good typical British town with an old bridge that is still useable, but unable to cope so they built a newer one upstream a little bit to handle the major traffic in the area.
We don't really have "parks" here in Europe like you do in USA or such, in bigger cities there are green spaces and smaller towns got tons of rural zones for biking, hiking etc. Also with a narrow river like you have we use lots of smaller bridges, in that area there could be 10-15 bridges instead of 1-2 wider bridges. We also have lots of football pitches around the cities.
I agree like the parking, there is a lot in tourist areas like the beach, not so much in the cities due to public transport (park and ride on the outskirts)
Parking lots in Europe are actually kind of small and have a fee to park there, using the small parking lots (5x5) would be nice and still stay European!
French guy here. I think you should add more cafés and terraces in some plazas and along the waterfront if you find the time to detail this town more. The French love spending their time in bars and cafés so that would represent this part of our culture. Also, the police station and some other "official-looking" buildings would look very cool with flags. More generally, I agree with other comments on the importance of rail infrastructure and on limiting parking spaces, since old European cities are not built around cars.
With the two bridges you should make it so that one of them is a very old stone bridge and the other a modern steel or concrete bridge to show that one was added first but in recent years It has been decided that more capacity was needed and another one was added.
I think you should definitely add a train station near the town centre. It would also be a good way to connect other cities/countries between each other!
I've made the misstake of using french names for a fictional city build without knowing French. My solution was duolingo. 300 day streak later and I still can't pronounce the 6 letter word "Millau".
For Cities Skylines 1, Akruas made these 1x1x1 unit "buildings" that are residential, industrial, and commercial that he could place inside the buildings in the cities he makes because more than half the buildings he converted into procedural objects, and by creating these blocks that he could put inside the PO buildings, he could make them functional despite now being treated as objects by the game. I don't know if anyone has made anything like this for CS2, but a 1x1x1 hotel block that you could put inside any building you want to turn it into a hotel might work for that corner where you demolished the historical building for a Hotel. Keep the historical building but turn it into a hotel so you get the building you want with the functionality that you want.
I think that in most European towns of this size they would probably just keep the single bridge. But i would expect to see a roundabout on either side of the bridge instead. Or the road being upgraded to a 2+1 road because t doesn’t increase the footprint of the bridge. Also i would expect one more bridge to be added further inland. But that at a later stage. That bridge would probably be a 1+1 road also.
Great idea to use the red overlay for the plaza in front of Notre-Dame. Reminds me of Place Bellecour in my hometown of Lyon that has an iconic surface of pinkish red gravel. Great work!
34:53 that hospital is placed perfectly for that park behind it to be the historical cemetery (used to be place on city outskirts along magor roads). Maybe add a bunch of headstones and an ornate perimeter wall?
There are more castles in France than the UK. Having said that, the design of the in-game castle would be the best indicator of weather it should be in France or UK.
2:45 "Zwillingsstadt" could be a cool name for it in german. It means twin city and describes two independent cities that border each other directly via a river or a countries border. The easiest way to pronounce it for an englisch tounge would be "ts-will-ing-stod". I think it reflects the hole region in general and would sound way better than "Zwei Seiten" wich would be completely ridiculous.
surely you copy the red plaza into the other two plazas nearby, the lines of the cross even match up to it? that would make it all feel like one big precinct maybe..

Looking forward to the German city! It would be great if the city were based around a major car industry or factory, like Volkswagen, BMW, or Mercedes-Benz. Even a small racetrack or test track would be so cool! For inspiration, you could fly around the city of Wolfsburg for Volkswagen or Munich for BMW. There, you could explore the factories, museums, and much more! But don’t forget about the “Altstadt” (old town center), like in Frankfurt or Idstein. A castle would fit perfectly on a hill near the city.
A small bit of backstory: the water tower by the coast was turned into a tourist destination by including a deck at the top for sightseeing and learning about the water tower
With the UK, something like a Portsmouth harbor could be cool or a Liverpool with all the docks etc and mix of modern/history. Plus you have the stunning new Everton waterfront stadium.
I think another bridge is needed, one closer to the river mouth. Also it seems to me that the church is too big in comparison with the town. Perhaps growing a bit larger the historical part of the city would be great to match the proportions between the city and the church Your town is looking lovely, you have been doing an incredible job with this one
For the English town consider using a Saxon inspired epithet; towns on the English coasts nearest France have a decidedly more Saxon naming convention: Gedalwoar would mean a place divided by water, or Sweora literally means the place where two coasts are at their closest.
These region packs are seriously revitalising my interest in C:S2, this a great idea for a series! Also, you'd probably wanna pronounce Deux-Côtés as "Dou-Cot-ay" in English.

i don't know if it possible but i think a fortification wall between the old town and the rest of the cites could be intersting because a lot of old french cites have this.
idea for a german town name : Markburg or Markheim. Mark is an old german word for a border region, which fits considering it'll be near a french town, while also being the name for the old german currency, which fits nicely into the Dollar theme your channel has. Burg or Heim are both viable and relatively common suffixes to german town names. You don't to actually need to have a castle to use Burg, but it would be nice, while Heim translates to home, which gives it a more cozy vibe imo.
5:00 I know you are not covering Denmark in this this series, but you could take serious inspiration from aarhus ø, it creates a nice contrast between the original, beautiful danish houses, and the new modern skyscraper's
Yes! good idea ive been there and it's nice place, close to the city center while giving an enclosed enviroment. theres also something similar in Vejle...
For the next episode/german town, you should focus on a blend of Residential Hamburg and Rhur/Rhine style heavy industry? Fantastic opportunity for a European central train hub with ICE trains feeding back to your French city and future places? Also with the heavy industry comes rail yards, spurs and complex trains Name suggestions: Düllerburg or Dimeseldorf?
I already thought in the last episode the round ending on the sea break would make for a good place for a lighthouse. And i just realized that the french water tower would probably work really well for this
I feel like you need pedestrian and cycle bridges across the river. Maybe busses too, Public transportation and non-car methods in cities are a big thing in most european cities
What about creating a memorial garden or some old bunkers / infrastructure from WW2? Could be nestled into that big hill by by the quay area. The Normandy coastline in France, which I guess is what this area depicts as it directly faces the 'UK' island, is still littered with such ruins. Would also add some tourism too - walking tours etc
Just a small complaint, but a lot of Europe doesn't really have slip lanes like you've added a few of on the new side of the city, especially not in city centers. This is as they can be very dangerous for pedestrians crossing. A bit of investigative journalism shows me that they only appear a lot in Germany, while Spain and Italy have a few, of which most are in the sub-urbs. Though I implore you to figure out yourself if they are realistic in your particular builds :)
Please, add another bridge (maybe a pedestrian bridge?) further down the river. It seems very weird that there isn't a bridge for so long and European cities have a lot of bridges, especially in the center
« Deux Cotés », which means « Two Sides » in French, reminds me of the Quebec town of Trois Rivières, which means « Three Rivers » in French. Oh and « Deux Côtés » are pronounced in French as more or less « Dew Cowtey » Côtés like Cow + Tail without the L (tai) :D

If you want french sounding names for your streets, I advice not to use King Street, as most of these got replace in the revolution. Here are some ideas: Names based on symbols and concepts: - Avenue de la République - Rue de la Nation - Boulevard de la Fraternité - Place de la Concorde - Place de la Nation Names based on military victories : - Rue d'Austerlitz - Rue de Rivoli - Rue de Verdun - Rue de Wagram - Rue de Valmy - Rue de Bouvines Named after a historical figure: - Boulevard Louis Pasteur - Boulevard Haussman - Boulevard Charles de Gaulle (a really used one this one) - Avenue Victor Hugo - Avenue Jules Ferry - Rue Léon Gambetta - Rue Marie Curie - Rue Lavoisier - Rue Eiffel Streets named after Pasteur, Hugo, De Gaulle and République can be found pretty much in every city of France, with these four you are sure to nail the French theme!

Deux cotes mean two sides due to the stream splitting the town: deux= two, cotes= side/ sloped piece of land, like the wine , cote du rone
You should move the hospital to where the multipurpose park/plaza is. It’s in the middle of the whole district and is on the water front.
Hope all of these towns get their own football stadium! Really fun series so far. Maybe like a port hub like Hamburg or Rotterdam for the next city?
That’s a really fun idea!
Doggerland Premier League
I know it’s Germany and not France but for the bridges and rail (if it comes) definitely check out colognes cathedral! Loving this series sm
For a german theme i would think of an old industrial town. If the german pack adds that. OR a bavarian type village with a focus on agriculture
For the next episode/german town, you should focus on a blend of Residential Hamburg and Rhur/Rhine style heavy industry? Fantastic opportunity for a European central train hub with ICE trains feeding back to your French city and future places? Also with the heavy industry comes rail yards, spurs and complex trains
Name suggestions: Düllerburg or Dimeseldorf?
I already thought in the last episode the round ending on the sea break would make for a good place for a lighthouse. And i just realized that the french water tower would probably work really well for this
I thought so too but I placed it there and it was way too large
Ah sad. I had a slight concern, that might be the case.
Deux Côtés is pronounces something Like "Duh Kot-e'" with an emphasis on the e. (Its the E sound in extra, not the one in Bee)
Deux côtés really remind me Nantes, a city in west of France and build on the Loire river
that beach is empty because its probably a bit dirty, big boat launch right next to it and not as much water exchange due to the keys
I feel like you need pedestrian and cycle bridges across the river. Maybe busses too, Public transportation and non-car methods in cities are a big thing in most european cities
I would walk in the city listening to french jazz
Du Coin would probably be a great name for a district perhaps as it means “from the corner” in french
Love your videos🔥🔥
What about creating a memorial garden or some old bunkers / infrastructure from WW2? Could be nestled into that big hill by by the quay area. The Normandy coastline in France, which I guess is what this area depicts as it directly faces the 'UK' island, is still littered with such ruins. Would also add some tourism too - walking tours etc
That would actually be great to add!
Hey there, love this series as I am from Europe! Will you be adding border crossings?
Please, add another bridge (maybe a pedestrian bridge?) further down the river. It seems very weird that there isn't a bridge for so long and European cities have a lot of bridges, especially in the center
« Deux Cotés », which means « Two Sides » in French, reminds me of the Quebec town of Trois Rivières, which means « Three Rivers » in French.
Oh and « Deux Côtés » are pronounced in French as more or less « Dew Cowtey » Côtés like Cow + Tail without the L (tai) :D
Ooh, Trois-Rivières is a really cool city, I visit it a lot
@@silver-willow8000 J'ai jamais entendu quelqu'un dire que Trois-Rivières était "cool" 😂😂
@@silver-willow8000 The city is alright, not so much to do. But UQTR was cool
Yes, but it's important to add that, the "ô" is pronounced like the "o" in go, not like the "ou" in "couch", or the "ow" in "cow".
Duh Coh-TAY is quite a bit closer than Dew Cowtey lol
make the white buildings in the historical side slightly less bright white so they look a bit more worn and old. maybe even a light yellow shade
Hi, loving this series. Is there any way I can get a list for all the mods you’ve used in this playthrough? I’m new to cities skylines. Thanks for producing great content! ❤
You can extend the park areas.
If you want french sounding names for your streets, I advice not to use King Street, as most of these got replace in the revolution. Here are some ideas:
Names based on symbols and concepts:
- Avenue de la République
- Rue de la Nation
- Boulevard de la Fraternité
- Place de la Concorde
- Place de la Nation
Names based on military victories :
- Rue d'Austerlitz
- Rue de Rivoli
- Rue de Verdun
- Rue de Wagram
- Rue de Valmy
- Rue de Bouvines
Named after a historical figure:
- Boulevard Louis Pasteur
- Boulevard Haussman
- Boulevard Charles de Gaulle (a really used one this one)
- Avenue Victor Hugo
- Avenue Jules Ferry
- Rue Léon Gambetta
- Rue Marie Curie
- Rue Lavoisier
- Rue Eiffel
Streets named after Pasteur, Hugo, De Gaulle and République can be found pretty much in every city of France, with these four you are sure to nail the French theme!
I think a train station is definitely missing to bring more tourists
You should make more custom underground parking, it is more french like and saves a ton of space
An artillery road - now it's cannon
for the uk connection build an underwater train tunnel as there is a real life underwater train connecting the UK and France called the channel tunnel
I commented on the previous video saying that the taxes were too high, I take it back. The beauty of the town justifies the high taxes.
Haha the citizens don’t think so unfortunately
Beautiful build but I'm still waiting for this map to be fixed to start my own European build, is there any update on the map?
A more industrial based city for the German town/city should work really nicely! Inspirations like Hamburg should work!
0:00 - Welcome there France
King Street = Arterial road. Like an artery.
When will the map be updated because it says theres a issue with the cliamtes and I just want to build on it already?
This town is starting to look a bit like Ostend, Belgium in it's layout
The people at 6:30 who are standing around the car thinking about what to do will be thinking who stole their car once it leaves!
Hi! Love your channel. I’m also a native French speaker. Deux-côtes is pronounced (doo-coat)
Ooo great I can say that! Cheers!
Or "/Derh KOh-Tay/"
i can smell the fish markets now
Cs2 future is looking so damm good very excited for the console release with paradox mods it will be so good
It’s so beautiful! But you should also go back to Dunyeti 😊
Does the patreon have a link to the savegame of this city ?
