- Josh Neighbors breaks down his Top 10 coaches in the Big 12 for the 2024 Big 12 Football season. He begins with Mike Gundy & Kyle Wittingham. He notes how close of a race it is between Gundy & Wittingham because of their essentially identical success. He then shares thoughts on the Kansas State & KU head coaches Chris Klieman & Lance Leipold who are clearly in the top 5 of the league.
He touches upon coaches from the rest of the teams in the conference as he rounds out his top 10.

Whittingham had it easy in the Mt west from 2005-2011. While we were playing Mack Brown at Texas and Bob Stoops at OU.
That's what I was thinking if Neal Brown stayed at troy until now he'd have crazy high percentages and such!
Utes also recruited mountain west level players and were a mountain west team at that time. Playing field is even. And if there was doubt see what he did after moving to a Power 5 where we still have a recruiting disadvantage over bigger named programs
How'd Whitt do against Saban?

Utah @ OSU will be a huge game. As a Ute fan I worry about adjusting to Big-12 style of play, but the argument could be made that many PAC-12 teams had that same style. Utah will rely on being a physical "hit you in the mouth" type team. They will run straight at you, and pass when they see opportunities. They won't change until they absolutely need to. Meh, as long as Whitt is there they will never give up on that system, no matter what.
Matt Campbell is the best football coach in the conference. And TJ Otzelberger is the best basketball coach. Which means I guess that Jamie Pollard is the best AD in the conference.

Willie Fritz is way too high. He had 6 bad to mediocre season in the AAC prior to 2 great seasons (one of which was after the Big12 raided the AAC's best 3 teams).
Chris Klieman inherited a better program than Lance, but the roster he inherited was atrocious. It wasnt all sunshine and roses, so while lance has done amazing things (snyder-esque up to this point) it would be hard to put lance above chris until he at least beats him.
So Campbell should be ahead of Klieman then? I agree.
@@jbrock8596 Klieman has at least beaten Campbell. But no, I wouldn't really have a problem with putting him ahead.
So Kleiman is better than Snyder who also did “snyderesque” things.
