I live in Jersey now, a far cry from the Grimsby fish docks I served my Sheet metal worker apprenticeship on, but I love to see these video's and visit whenever I can, takes me straight back to my youth. Used to love walking along the pontoons with my tool bag to go to the trawlers on Pneumonia Quay, watching all the fish being sold and the excitement one day of seeing a 'real' shark that had been caught. My dad was a shipwright on the fish docks and we would love walking round swapping anecdotes. Thanks for taking the time to do this Ian. Mike
Morning Ian, so much has changed in out Lifetime in Grimsby and its Guys like You that Keep it Alive by your videos and the Heritage Center keeping it alive. Even though I no Longer Live in Grrimsby YOUR videos keep me in contact with Grimsby. Thank YOU. Tony in Essex
Hi Ian, Interesting. The last time i went down the docks i was stopped by security. I told him long before he was born i used to go down the docks regularly with my father and thousands of people worked there the police on the gate would salute you. Now there is only desolation it needs tight security. What kind of a world are we living in?.
How sad to see the decline of the docks 😞 Used to go there as a young boy with my grandad Bustling community but sadly not now. In fact it's even sadder to see the decline of Grimsby as a whole from where it was to what it is today. Damn shame and nobody gives a fuck anymore !
