This was the best WH wedding ever. Tricia was as perfect as any Royal and Edward amazingly handsome. It was absolutely gorgeous in every way. They have been happy for now 50 years!
I appreciate being able to see this excellent footage of Patricia Nixon and Edward Cox's wedding. The bride looked beautiful. It was also nice seeing the Johnson daughters, Lynda and Luci, as well as The Reverend and Mrs. Billy Graham. Tricia's sister Julie N. Eisenhower had married first, and there were brief glimpses of her as Matron of Honor. I had met her during the summer of 1968, when she was campaigning for her father in SC. A lovely, friendly person.
I loved President Nixon's comment about the wedding being remembered as a day when everyone was "beautifully and simply happy". We need a day like that today.
There was a time we had thoes days in this country.
Sadly, Tricia has only one child with her husband. It doesn't appear that they will ever be grandparents.
@@travelseatsyellowlab Do you know if Tricia's sister, Julie Eisenhower have any children and grandchildren?
@@travelseatsyellowlab I'm sure that Tricia and Edward Cox don't think of their family of three as being prefaced by "Sadly". Do you have a problem with families who have only one child or no children?

My favorite wedding gown throughout time. The Bride was radiant, elegant and stunning. The Groom: handsome and dignified. I read awhile ago Tricia and Ed renewed their wedding vows. Wishing them continued happiness and joy.
Hello Rhubarb 😊
@Rhubarb 68 mine too! Timelessly elegant, feminine and beautiful
@@quietandmildone It certainly is! One of the loveliest brides I’ve ever “seen”. Understated elegance and uber feminine. I love it.
Trica Nixon was one of the most beautiful, elegant, graceful brides in history. Her dress was elegant and delicate soft and flowing. Her dress was not like others of the day.She was the closest to American 'princess' we had. The picture with the White House doorway is stunning! The lighting framed her with a halo effect. My coodos to the photographer( of course the subject was very feminine). I watched the wedding and was glued to the television. I was very fortunate to have met Trica Nixon at the 1968 Republican Convention at the Fountainbleu Hotel in Miami Beach. She was so striking and elegant in a white ballgown. We chatted for several minutes and she was so gracious and soft spoken. Later while she was dancing I couldn't help but notice how effortlessly she moved. She glided across the floor as if she she never touched it. Throughout the convention I had opportunity to speak with her. She was always radiant and gracious. I liked her very much. Her elegance and beauty remain today. My encounters with her are among my most cherished memories.
She married a handsome American "prince" with great dignity, strength and confidence. Her Father's note was exactly that 'a father's note to to little girl on her wedding day----not from a president or powerful person'. What a cherished memory she has. You can see the love in the family in every picture. The love Pat ant Dick Nixon had was very evident in the video. Thank you for sharing these intimate moments of a happier time.
My very sincere congratulation wish on your 50th wedding Anniversary. May you continue to have health and happiness for 50 more years.

This part of Mr Nixon's administration was a class act. I miss the days that weren't so contentious, we had a different society then.
Ever so true
Amen.
Indeed we did. Members of congress and the senate could be fierce rivals on Capitol Hill, while also being the best of friends. We were a much more civil society back then.
I miss the days when a president, knowing he did wrong, took himself out of the public eye. One who shall not be named perhaps does not know he did wrong, because he was raised to be an autocratic tyrant, immoral and amoral man of business who gave not two thoughts about the millions of his fellow Americans who would die due to his negligence. We can forgive Nixon who, by comparison, was a true patriot. But not this latest version of a disgrace to the Republican party, no more than we can forgive his spineless minions in Congress.
Those Days are long gone but...I remember them I have a sharp mind and a long memory, The good Ol'Days
Tricia's wedding gown was timeless. It still looks beautiful and very much in style today. The scalloped neckline was stunning on her. I think it was a gown designed by Priscilla of Boston. So classic.
Yes, it was a Priscilla of Boston.....
All of our gowns were made by Priscilla of Boston. there was a silk banner sewn in the underside the hem, that says "Pricilla of Boston June 12 1971". I still have gown. :-)

I can see how much Ed Cox loves her, even to this day - still in love with her and I can how thrilled both parents - Pat & Pres Nixon were to have Ed as their son-in-law. He was of the right choice and pedigree - beyond all that - the most darling couple.
Beautiful! Such elegance high class & honour once was in the USA!

Like Watergate?? I separate Nixons perfidy from his innocent family.
It was nice to see no protesters, no press. They were given the chance to have a nice family moment.
But there were protests all over! I was part of the protests. Viet Nam and Nixon had committed so many crimes by this point (Treason with Ann Chanault) Four students had been shot and killed the previous year at Kent State. It was a tumultuous time.

I was eleven when I saw Tricia wedding on t.v. I thought she was lovely. Now that I'm older and have seen many royal weddings and other president's daughters marry, I can say that none can compare to hers in elegance, simplicity and dignity. The whole Nixon family had that aura about them. Whether Nixon made mistakes or not, is beside the point. They don't make americans like that any more. They weren't cheap, they weren't vulgar.

Watching this made me cry. I remember this day! I was looking forward to catching a glimpse on the TV (what 11-year-old girl doesn't love to see a bride?), and being upset that I missed it because my uncle was watching sports. My sisters and I spent half that summer going from one relative's house to another while while our mother went to the hospital daily to tend to our father. I still like Nixon, I’m Canadian, he was flawed, made mistakes. But I believe at heart he was a good decent man, there have been worse as we have seen. I wish Nixon daughters and family well. 50 years showed parents raised you well !!
Nixon showed courage when it came time to resign. It was inevitable. He put the country first.
@@steveshapiro326 I was so heartbroken for him, I know Nixon screwed up!! But we know now he wasn’t the worst. The election in 63 was so close. Nixon could have protested. So proof he thought of the country. Nixon was also being blackmailed by Hunt for a million dollars adding to paranoia, I still don’t understand why he did what he did, but it was not for personal gain. I know I’m not American, but I liked him inspite of everything. His paranoia got the best of him. But his farewell speech, one of most heart wrenching but sincere scenes of a fallen president I caught on TH-cam today, I was crying. !! I could see his broken heart, but his graceful dignity and grace leaving White House all 4 arm and arm. Americans. Today should feel no shame, he was just a man, under pressure as president, he is responsible for that mess. But he panicked!! But he left office in the most honourable fashion, Despite heroic stories of JFK, s book” Profiles In Courage “ this
Nixon ,disgrace is actually courageous iin itself. Just by his gracious speech, his tears, he was a shy man. And the way he walked to helicopter with his peace sign. I was 14 years old and I was in tears! Still had compassion for him. At heart he was a good man, filled with wisdom, very intelligent, but he still did a stupid thing! I think most Americans forgave him, I’m the end, he went on speaking tours, did Nixon Frost, numerous shows. Wrote books, he was not a rich man, enough to be comfortable but not rich. I highly recommend Americans watch Nixon, s last farewell speech, I would call it one of the most important tragic events in government history, but it also showed a man who said never give up, despite the lowest peaks, that’s how you learn about life to keep going. I like and still like Nixon, as I said I don’t think he was worst president anymore!! Past president even 200 hundred years ago may have got away with things we don’t know about
F
It was a witch hunt just like they did to Pres. Trump.
Please do not compare Trump to Nixon. Nixon was a honorable man who loved his country and put country before himself whereas Trump is a despicable sociopath who thinks only about himself. Just look at The Republican Party! What a disgrace to for a USA President who doesn’t follow the Constitution and urged his followers to march into Capitol to stop the constitutional process of peaceful presidential transfer of power! The man is sick!

I myself had been married in April of that year. Tricia was the shy one of the two girls. Seemed like a simple, yet elegant wedding. Hope they’ve been happy.
@@GiftSparks How can you say that when the girl Tricia has been married to one man for more than 50 years?
They were married only 3 months after their engagement announcement. I like that idea. Not like nowadays where people wait for 2 years or more to go by after their announcement while in private they pretend they’re married.
My husband and I only knew each other for nine months, and wwe just celebrated our 49th anniversary the end of June.
The reason people wait that long is that most wedding venues are booked that far in advance & wedding dresses generally have to be ordered a year or more in advance. They didn’t have to worry about the venue & I’m sure a president’s daughter would be given priority in getting her dress made.

This truly looked like a beautiful day ! Congratulations on 50 years! Happier times then.
Hello Brannon,
How are you doing ?
My next-door neighbor, Dorothy Farbo designed her wedding dress!!! She was a well known NYC dress designer.
Congratulations on a gorgeous, simple lined, yet elegant gown. It fit her to a "T". I adore wedding gowns that FIT!!! That's the whole point, to make the bride look her very best! Ms. Farbo succeeded!!!
Always liked that dress...it would still be stylish today...
Absolutely beautiful timeless
Priscilla of Boston made Tricia's gown, at least that is what it said in Life Magazine.
Dorothy Farbo did an amazing job!! I consider that dress as it's finest elegance!! It's classic and timeless and something I would choose for myself.
Oh golly? 50 years! I'm glad for her and wish her many more. Time has a way of passing by. I'm going to be 83 soon. I voted for her father and admired her mother. God bless those that are left! ❤️🙏🍀
*This was an idyllic age compared to today.*
You did a wonderful job on this video. Thank you.
Hello Big D. How are you doing?
Stunning bride. Love the dress and veil.
So different from those brides on that "Yes' show who want to be sexy walking down the aisle...the time to be sexy is on the wedding night☺️☺️
The cake was so lovely you feel to leave It uncut
What a beautiful video. Best Wishes and another 50 years of love and Happy Days for Tricia and Ed Cox. 👍👍👍🌹
Happy 50th Anniversary 💖👏
Hello Anne,
How are you doing ?
I have seen this before....its very touching. Tricia is my age... She was introverted...shy appearing. Beautiful stunning girl 💖😍. She was not outspoken as her sister.... President Nixon I think was not an easy husband I'm sure... He adored his 2 girls. The letter expresses this.
Yet Pat was a Strong Strong Woman
She could handle him..President Nixon.... Both Nixon daughters were lovely...NOW? Many yrs have passes. Aging has set in. Many in this video have passed on.
This was a beautiful video 💜💖💜💖💜
It was also the day I Graduated from High School. Last week my High School closed for good.
My name is McGovern, but It was my First time voting; and I cast my vote for Richard Nixon.
