I think it would have been nice if you mentioned that in open party list systems, such as in Denmark, you **can** vote for a specific candidate, which counts as both a vote for that candidate, and the party as a whole. The party votes are used to determine the number of seats each party is entitled to as described, but then who fills the seats is something parties can choose to exercise control over (or not, if they wanna be more democratic)
The parties can choose what I'll call either closed, semi-closed, or open lists:
Closed - The candidates at the top of the list get elected first, regardless of number of personal votes.
Semi-closed - Candidates at the top of the list get elected first, but if one candidate is popular enough to reach a certain quota, they can "skip the line".
Open - Candidates get elected by plurality vote alone.
Finally, you should have mentioned that the election result under a regional list PR would have been even more different than led on, because the 2019 election was subject to the infamous spoiler effect. The brexit party for example would easily have gotten way more seats should they not have to worry about cannibalizing votes from the conservatives.

The list system makes a lot of sense when you think about it. You vote for a set of politicians who support a set of policies.

Hello, thank you for making these amazing videos they have given me a better understanding on electoral systems. Will you be finishing the playlist off? I would also like to ask what resources should I use for both Government and politics as this is the only A-level I am having difficulties revising for. I would really appreciate it if you got back to me.

Yeah I'll finish the list at some point in the next few weeks. Depends on where I get to in class.
